Result #354: I failed to find a rope to climb but know I can at this point anyway.

#354: See if I can finally figure out how to climb a rope.

Date: 12-20-2014

Due Date: 12-20-2015

The Resolution: I never figured out how to climb a rope, granted the first and only time I ever really tried was about 25 years ago during the Presidential Field Challenge thing we had to be a part of while I was in elementary school.

Part of the problem was that I was a fat kid and didn't have the upper body strength the other problem was that I didn't really grasp the technique. I remember have some kind of cartoon physics going through my head as I just clung to base squirming like an uncoordinated inch worm.

I never revisited this challenge because it seemed so pointless, but now I'm kind of intrigued.

I have no idea whether or not I can climb a rope right now but I do think I can figure it out this round.

We'll see.

No I just need to find a rope to climb.

Update #1: The Conclusion.

Date: 12-20-2015

Another day, another failure.

I'm not in the mood to go into detail about this failure. It's the same as every other explanation. I was real good at working on these resolutions up until moved back to San Diego where I shifted my focus on how to make a living on my own terms and have lost more and more enthusiasm toward life in general as I go.

I have bursts of optimism about the future as I'm starting to strategize a new plan but I feel no hope for the present and don't always have the energy to get out of bed let alone stick with a fitness plan.

The problem is, I just don't care right now and am looking for a reason to live. Unfortunately the way the world is these days I am too hung up on figuring out how to survive financially to focus on my basic needs.

Hopefully my outlook on life will change, like it has in the past, and if it does I will work on my health in general, also like I have in the past, and if I ever get to the point where I can climb a rope, I'll be sure to let you know.

Matt Bunker

I started out with a goal of becoming a paid screenwriter. I had no interest in any other aspect of filmmaking. I received and scholarship to The Vancouver Film School's Writing for Film and Television program where I graduated in 2005. I fell in love with being on set during my first non-school produced short, . I loved being around all the creative people, seeing people having fun while working. The whole liking your job was a new world to me, so I decided to give it a shot. I volunteered for any project I could, doing what ever was needed. The set was my Film School this time. While working as a PA on a feature I was informed that the DP wanted the three tallest PAs to help out in the grip and electric department. That is when I found the department that felt like the best fit for me while I continued to write.
