Resolution #94: Try The Hollywood Cookie Diet!!!

Date: 4-4-2014

Due date: 4-4-2015

Resolution: I saw a commercial for this magical cookie diet a couple of years ago. At first, I thought it was one of those commercials that starts as a parody only to be interrupted by the real commercial as it shatters the promises that were made in the parody. Nope. It was real.

In keeping with the April Fool's theme at some point this year I will give this Hollywood Cookie Diet a shot.

Update #1: The Hollywood Cookies Are Here!!!

Date: 4-15-2014

IMAG0479.jpg

I'm kind of excited about this one and not just because it's a cookie diet.

I'm one of these fat people that never eats breakfast. On workdays, I buy some crappy on the run snacks. My dinners range as far as how healthy and unhealthy they are, but I usually also grab some kind of unhealthy midnight snack being that I have dinner at around 8:00 in the PM and don't sleep until at least 2:00 in the AM.

Of anything that I've ever read about diet, I've never heard anyone claim that skipping breakfast is a good idea. I am in no way buying into this product being the best solution for skipping breakfast, I'm interested in see if there are any noticeable differences by just adding breakfast in general to my daily repertoire.

I have three days worth of chocolate chip cookies and three days worth of oatmeal cookies. Starting tomorrow I'll have two cookies for breakfast, two cookies for lunch, and a sensible dinner. Being that I'm still working on the salad a day until May resolution, I think I know what that sensible dinner will be.

I'm also very excited by how little planning as to what I'm going to eat over the next week there's going to be.

As always, I'll keep you posted.

Update #2: Let Them Eat Cookies!!!

Date: 4-17-2014

Yesterday was my first full day on the Hollywood Cookie Diet. It wasn't that bad. I had cookies for breakfast, cookies for lunch, a salad for dinner, and some poutine at the bar.

I already lost 15 pounds.

Okay not really.

I'm actually really disappointed that my weight hasn't changed much at all over the past couple of months. Other than alcohol I pretty much only drink water, I've been eating pretty healthy since getting a steady paycheck, I've pretty much given up driving so I walk everywhere I need to go and I constantly run around at work all day.

My weight has yo-yoed all over the place throughout my life, and I used to have tricks that worked for me when I focused. I guess I've finally gotten to that age I've been warned about where you not only have to really work to get the weight off but you now really REALLY have to work at it.

(And yeah, yeah, yeah on the alcohol and weight, I know, but I also know I've lost weight while drinking in the past, so please just let that aspect slide, I get it.)

(Oh I also know that there are people out there who will tell me what I really need to do is not buy into things like this cookie diet, to which I also understand. I know there is a better way to lose weight but as I work up to that. I plan to experiment with these magic solutions to provide content for this site as a poor mans Mythbuster of sorts. I'm doing more and planning to do more than what is happening in any individual post.)

Update #3: The Results…

The results of the Hollywood Cookie Diet are in and...

... I don't know?

At the start of this challenge, I was in the middle of one of those frustrating stages of weight loss. Even though my clothes were starting to fit better and my face was starting to look a little less fat my weight actually went up a little.

After a week of this cookie diet I'm now back to the same weight I was at the start only my closes still fit better and my face still looks less bloated, so I think it was a success?

I was a fan of the chocolate chip cookies, but not so much when it came to the oatmeal cookie. The oatmeal cookie had these white flakes in it that kind of reminded me of flavor crystals in some gums (texturally not taste.) It was more weird than gross.

Though I won't make a new resolution of it, I'll probably try this again sometime. If anything it got me to eat breakfast and cut out all the non-diet cookie sweets from my diet. I do like treats.

Whether or not the Hollywood Cookie Diet was a success I followed the rules and stuck with it for a week. That said I consider this resolution a...
