Resolution #183: Start Building A Fold And Stow Miniature Beetlejuice Town!!!

Date: 7-2-2014

Due Date: 7-2-2015

Resolution: As a fiction writer I get to create worlds in my head all the time. I've been lucky enough to have a few of these stories turned into films, which is an awesome way to experience the interpretation of an existence that was conjured up in one's imagination.

I was doing research for another resolution that I plan to do further down the road that involves miniaturized versions of things. During the search, I found an image of a tiny model town. I instantly thought of how cool it would be to create a miniature version of an idealized town from one of my stories.

And here we are.

Now that my bedroom is completely empty, except for my clothing, I plan to eventually turn it into an arts and crafts room. There's a built-in shelf that runs across one of the walls that’s both high enough and deep enough to create the perfect Murphy Bed style platform as the base for this mini-town that could then be folded up and hidden under said shelf.

I can't say that this resolution is necessarily based on a childhood dream of mine but who's to say that we have to stop creating frivolous fantasies just because we hit a certain age... well, besides the Taliban that is.

Result #183: Now That I Moved… I No Longer Have The Extra Room… So… My Mini Beetlejuice Town Will Have To Wait…

Update #1: The Conclusion…

Date: 7-2-2015

When I first set this resolution I was living in a one-bedroom apartment that I treated like a studio. This meant I had an entire room that I did absolutely nothing with. I also had no plans on moving so it was a perfect space to build this tiny town.

Now that I've moved I have a space the size of a studio without the extra unused room. I guess this town is supposed to be fold and stow-able, but I still don't have enough extra space for this.

Maybe one of these days I'll be successful enough to settle down in a place with a little more permanence and room. If that ever happens I'll have to revisit this resolution. As always, I'll let you know if/when I can pull this off.
