Resolution #305: Create Two Parallel Worlds In The Sims... To Test Synchronicity!!!

Date: 11-1-2014

Due Date: 11-1-2014

The Resolution: This resolution is meant to create the method to get a pair of parallel Sims to make the same exact decisions at the same exact time. If I figure it out I plan to run the actual experiment once I'm done with 365 Days of Resolution.

Here are the basics.

I want to get two computers that are exactly the same. These two computers will only play their own copy of the game The Sims. I want to create two characters that have the exact same attributes. Then use a cheat to make sure neither has to worry about finance and use some of the money to build two of the exact same cozy houses filled with all the creature comforts a Sim would need. I also plan to use a cheat so that the two clones already know how to cook, clean, shit, and piss so the only thing these characters will have to worry about is their social life.

Once I get all that figured the game will start with both Sims striking up a conversation with a neighbor. No matter how the neighbor responds the clones will react with the same reaction.

I'm trying to see just how different virtual lives can be based on the reactions of others.

I hope I can figure this out because I really want to see how it turns out.

We'll see.

Result #305: Even If I Could Afford The Equipment… I Have No Idea How To Do The Programming Required To Succeed At This Task… AT THIS TIME!!!

Update #1: The Conclusion.

I don't know how I thought I would complete this resolution to create a parallel universe through the video game The Sims. First off, I would need to buy two similar computers and the game. After looking into it, I could get this done for around $200 which wasn't out of the question when I had a full-time job. It's the second hurdle that's the problem.

The plan would be to start two games with the same exact character, living in the same exact house, making the same exact decisions to see if they get the same exact results. I want to see if both games would respond the same exact way or if the game's AI is independent enough to create a split in the virtual reality of the game.

The big problem is that I have no idea how to write a program that would control both characters to do the same exact thing at the same exact time. I'm sure it's possible but I have no idea how to go about it.

Maybe if I ever get into programming I'll be able to figure it out, or better yet, maybe someday I'll meet someone that finds the idea interesting enough to do it for me. Either way… I'll keep you posted on my progress.
