SNL: S35E01... HOST: MEGAN FOX... DATE: SEPTEMBER 26, 2009

SNL: S35E01... HOST: MEGAN FOX... DATE: SEPTEMBER 26, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with the parody C-SPAN coverage from The United Nations General Assembly where Fred Armisen as Moammar Gadhafi addressed the group to give excuses for his earlier speech where he said jet lag caused his nonsensical ramblings, only to end up rambling on about nothing again. Of course, with this being the opening sketch it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Megan Fox then officially opened the show with a monolog about how hosting had her feeling like she was living a dream then looked down at what she was wearing and said it was apparently a thirteen-year-old boy’s dream. She then joked how some might know her from the movie Transformer, but more people probably knew her from nude pictures on the internet that she didn’t remember posing for. She then shared several of these obviously faked nudes while continuing to act dumb as if they were real and she just forgot posing for them.

  3. This was followed by a fake ad for Bladdivan which was for a new pill and promoted how it help men combat Shy Bladder Syndrome.

  4. Flight Attendants had Megan Fox and Kristen Wiig as two flight attendants who were unnaturally upbeat and bubbly while making devastating announcements about issues with the plane.

  5. Russian Brides Had Megan Fox and Fred Armisen as two mail order Russian brides that Will Forte had to choose from. Though he was clearly more physically attracted to Megan, Armisen wasn’t ruled out thanks to the fact that he as a she was ten dollars cheaper to become Forte’s wife.

  6. We then got another SNL Digital Short where Will Forte played a socially awkward guy trying to impress Megan Fox after somehow getting a date. Though he does pull off this feat, even after learning his deep creepy secrets, he ended up dumping her by the end of the scene.

  7. Grady Wilson's Burning Up The Bedsheets featured Kenan Thompson as the titular pitchman who demonstrated his special sex techniques to help burn up the bedsheets for those who buy his new book.

  8. U2 then took to the stage to perform Breathe.

  9. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Kenan Thompson returned as his French Def Jam comedian character to tell a few jokes about the recent G20 Summit. Kristen Wiig also returned as her travel writer character who told so many mini jokes in an effort to hide her discomfort that her visit makes no sense. (Clip 2)

  10. Live Lounge had Megan Fox as a phone-chat operator who touted the Live Lounge platform as well as the throng of other weirdo social types who call in.

  11. U2 then returned to the stage to perform Moment Of Surrender.

  12. Biker Chick Chat introduced Jenny Slate to the show as the host of a freakin’ talk show for freakin’ biker chicks.

  13. We then got yet another SNL Digital Short Called Megan’s Roommate where Andy Samberg played Megan Fox’s Netflix and chill type date where he met Megan’s roommate played by Bobby Moynihan who was bitterly jealous while also butt naked wearing nothing but an Optimus Prime mask while thinking he was a true robot.

  14. Your Mom Talks To Megan Fox While You Get Ready was a sketch where the title says it all with Kristen Wiig in the role of the mom.

  15. 16. Finally, Megan Fox closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights before introducing U2 back to the stage once again, to perform Ultraviolet (Light My Way).

SNL: S35E02... HOST: RYAN REYNOLDS... DATE: OCTOBER 3, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with A Message From The President Of The United States which had Fred Armisen as Barack Obama to brag about the fact that “he hasn’t accomplished a damn thing” since taking office in January. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Ryan Reynolds then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he was in both the movies Wolverine and The Proposal within the same year. This led him to outline the difference between a superhero movie and a romantic comedy with a brilliant list of similarities and differences.

  3. This was followed by a fake ad for Mostly Garbage which a dog food for these hard economic times. The ad featured Jason Sudeikis as a dog lover who set his priorities straight by serving bagged garbage to his pet so that he could afford to feed himself.

  4. Family Feud took us back in time to a Richard Dawson hosted episode, with Jason Sudeikis as Dick Dawson. The families feuding for this fictional installment of the classic game show were The Osmond Family again the Phillips family following the news that John and MacKenzie Philips had an incestuous affair which, of course, was the basis for most of the jokes. Well, the incest for the Philips family at least, the Osmond Family kept getting jabbed for their extremely wholesomeness.

  5. We then got another classic SNL Digital Short which was pretty much just a music video for the song On The Ground and was pretty much just Like A Boss, only with different words. That’s not to say that it’s still wasn’t fun to see again.

  6. Porcelain Fountains brought back a very old segment were Fred Armisen plays a pitchman who pushes things like chandeliers and marble columns to gussy up even the filthiest dump. This week, Armisen had the real Scarlett Johansson, and Ryan Reynolds help him pitch porcelain fountains as this week classy product.

  7. Deep House Dish also returned after a long time off, with Kenan Thompson and Andy Samberg playing two club kid hosts of an MTV-4 show where they introduce new house and hip-hop bands. Even though it was mostly the same, it was at least interesting that both musical guest Lady Gaga and surprise guest Madonna also got involved.

  8. Lady Gaga then took to the stage to perform Paparazzi.

  9. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Darrell Hammond dropped by as Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to comment of Roman Polanski who was back in the news after the controversial director released a film that was getting nominated for multiple awards. Kenan Thompson as Charles Barkley stopped by to comment on the 69th anniversary of Red China for some random reason, but it was funny no matter why. Just as I wrote this Seth asked the same thing, and it turned out he lost a bet, and this was part of his payment. Fred Armisen and Nasim Pedrad were the last of the guest as they portrayed Mr. and Mrs. Ahmadinejad where Fred sat idly by as Nasim rambled on about the excitement of her visit to New York and her joys from being married to a “pussy dictator.” (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  10. So You Committed A Crime... And You Think You Can Dance? was a parody mashup of a TruTV show with the popular network dance show. In this competitive reality show spoof, convicts were teamed up with pro-dancer, and the dancers danced, and the criminals acted in ways that highlight why they were in prison, or kept trying to escape, except for Kenan Thompson who played the most badass of them all took it seriously and danced great. The judges were made up of celebrity criminals, and Ryan Reynolds was the choreographer for each dance.

  11. International Masterworks had Ryan Reynolds, Fred Armisen, and Andy Samberg played a group of Norwegian actors who performed a scene from an American cop drama without making an effort to lose their, over-the-top, accents.

  12. Lady Gaga then returned to the stage to perform a medley of her songs. This performance was good, but it also may have had me laughing the hardest throughout the night the way she kept having to fight with her costume, she even got whacked in the head by it a couple of times.

  13. Fashion took backstage where we saw Andy Samberg grow to be terribly embarrassed when he discovered both he and Lady Gaga both planned to wear the same exact Avant-garde clear bubble outfit to the SNL after party. At first, Andy thinks he should change to avoid any potentially embarrassing situation that could arise, but then the mood change and the two attempted to make out. The only problem was that their dumb outfits were so bulky they could barely even reach each other for a hug, but that did not stop them from trying.

  14. Finally, Ryan Reynolds closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E03... HOST: DREW BARRYMORE... DATE: OCTOBER 10, 2009

SNL: S35E03... HOST: DREW BARRYMORE... DATE: OCTOBER 10, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with A Message From The President Of The United States that carried on from last weeks opening sketch where now, Fred Armisen as Barack Obama gloated about winning the Nobel Peace Prize while still doing nothing to stop any wars. He also joked about winning seventy-million-dollars after randomly buying a lottery ticket when convoy stopped for gas on the way home from accepting the award, as if the world was just handing everything to him while getting nothing in exchange. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Drew Barrymore then officially opened the show with a monolog about how her entering the Six-Timers club means that she broke the tie between her and Candice Bergen’s for the record for most visits from a female host. She then went on to share a few “clips of her prestigious acting family” in action to show how acting is in her Barrymore blood, only none of the examples were all that well performed, as the joke if the segment, not the performance of the cast members in the sketch who did well at acting badly.

  3. Gilly then returned for another installment of a frizzy hair Kristen Wiig perpetrating violent “pranks,” only this time she was joined by Drew Barrymore who looked like she could be her twin while playing her foreign exchange student counterpart named Gigli. At the end of the sketch Gilly trick Gigli into blowing herself up to get rid of the competition.

  4. We then got a parody of the short-lived show, Celebrity Ghost Stories that had several members of the cast impersonate several kooky celebs in order to share their even kookier experiences with ghosts.

  5. We then got a fake ad for the University Of Westfield that made fun of the University Of Phoenix ads from the time. This fictional school promised academically-challenged students and/or lazy people a way to acquire a degree from a prestigious university, without having to do the real work, as long as they don’t tell anyone about this scam,

  6. La Rivista Della Televisione Con Vinny Vedecci then returned for more fun and game with Bill Hader’s Italian talk show host. As always, for this installment, he interviewed our host as herself about her directorial debut even though she doesn’t speak a lick of Italian leading to nothing but translation issues.

  7. Regina Spektor then took to the stage to perform Eet.

  8. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Bill Hader played James Carvel to comment on the Republican opposition to Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize win, while tip-toeing around the fact that there was still no signs to the end of any wars. Andy Samberg also dropped by as Scrooge McDuck to comment on the rising value of gold. Kenan Thomas was the last of the guest when he dropped in as Maya Angelou to share a poem to counter the rumors of her death. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  9. Tampax To The Max Tournament Of Champions 1991 was a flashback to a televised pro-billiards female tournament where Drew Barrymore and Kristen Wiig made it to the championship match. Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte played two announcers who were so hung up on the fact that they had to keep pushing their Tampax sponsorship that they could barely pay attention to the match.

  10. Cooking Al Fresco was the Food Networks attempt to produce a rooftop cooking show, only Drew Barrymore and Andy Samberg, who played the show’s hosts kept getting attacked by a flock of ravenous birds.

  11. This was followed by a parody of Larry King Live that had Red Armisen as Larry, to discuss celebrity dos and don’ts with a panel of experts, following several high-level sexual misconduct cased from this time.

  12. We then got another SNL Digital Short had Drew Barrymore and Fred Armisen as two for-hire party performers whose big selling point was they would provide entertainment at any time in any location.

  13. Regina Spektor then returned to the stage to perform The Calculation.

  14. Debbie Turner Book Signing had Drew Barrymore as the titular author to host a reading/signing event for her latest book. After reading a few excerpts, Will Forte interrupted as the obvious influence of the fictional romance in order to beg her to come back. He did this while revealing that he wasn’t close to a charming as the fictionalized character from the book.

  15. Finally, Drew Barrymore closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S35E04... HOST: GERARD BUTLER... DATE: OCTOBER 17, 2009

SNL: S35E04... HOST: GERARD BUTLER... DATE: OCTOBER 17, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with The Rock Obama’s Return with had Fred Armisen as Barack Obama who discussed health care reform with members of the Republican Senate. At one point one of the Republican’s said something that made Obama angry which caused Armisen to once again morph into The Rock Obama, with the real The Rock making a surprise visit. As always, since this was the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Gerard Butler then officially opened the show with a monolog about how Drew Barrymore wasn’t the only person to break a hosting record this year based on the fact that this one hosting appearance made his the Scotsman to host the most shows of Saturday Night Live. He then shared how he acts in two types of movies, movies where he wears and shirt and movies where he doesn’t. He then used 300 as an example of one of his shirtless movies and Phantom Of The Opera as his shirt on example. This is when, to show off his talent, he sang a Some Enchanted Evening from Phantom Of The Opera. Before he could get too deep into the song, he was accosted by several warriors, ninjas, and a dagger-wielding Christine from Phantom as played by Kristen Wiig.

  3. This was followed by a fake ad for Fuquay Satin's Grand Hoochie Skank Rose which featured Kenan Thompson as the titular pitchman who was pushing his brand of champagne as the “ideal urban champagne for pouring down women’s asses.”

  4. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat was the first in a series of Bud Light Golden Wheat ads that shared clips of dressed rehearsals for classic sketches while at the same time promoting their product. The sketch in question for this mashup of marketing and content was the rehearsal for the Riding My Donkey Political Talk Show that aired back in ’98.

  5. Game Time With Randy And Greg returned for another installment of the sports talk show where all the callers insisted that Bill Hader’s sidekick character was an alien, which we learned during the first installment of this sketch, turned out to be true. Since the question of Hader’s alien status was made clear during round one, this pretty much felt like a rerun.

  6. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat then returned for round two that took us back to ’96 with Chris Rock cracking up during the rehearsal of the Tim Meadow’s classic Perspective sketch from the first time Rock came back to the show as the host.

  7. Beauty And The Beast had Gerard Butler and Kristen Wiig as The Beast and Belle who started to sing a duet of the theme song, only to stop to express their confusion over which one was actually The Beast. Though the obvious answer from a humans perspective was our host in monster makeup, he argued that it was Belle do to his preference for women with much bigger asses, making her The Beast in the end. This then led to an argument that had several cast members dressed as the talking inanimate objects to add their two cents to the debate.

  8. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat then gave us round three with Harvey Keitel cracking up during a rehearsal for an Indian Casino sketch that he starred in while he was the host in ‘93.

  9. Shakira then took to the stage to perform She Wolf.

  10. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat then returned for round four where Bill Hader kept cracking during a Scared Straight parody back in ’08 with Shia LaBeouf laughing beside him as that week’s show host.

  11. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Bill Hader and Fred Armisen as the Two Gay Guy From New Jersey, who are now married and in the military, returned to comment on the newly-defunct Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, policy. The famous balloon from the Colorado kid who snuck into before it blew away, which turned out to be a planned publicity stunt from the father, floated by just to say hi to Seth. Gerard Butler also got a segment to speak directly to his family back in Scotland where he spoke using Scottish slang with Seth then had to interpret. Kristen Wiig then played a PGAD Persistent Genital Arousal Disorder suffer who kept getting hit with involuntary orgasms while discussing her medical malady. (Clip 2) (Clip 3) (Clip 4)

  12. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat the returned for round five where we saw Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers cracking up while rehearsing the news from several installments of their time working together on Weekend Update.

  13. This was followed by a parody of 300 where Gerard Butler reprised his role as King Leonidas in order to announce to his men that he just agreed to lift the Spartan’s Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy. Moments after sharing this new ruling, he was surprised to discover that each and every one of his gladiators have been hiding the fact that they’re gay, well, except for Bobby Moynihan who was the only one not wearing a chest plate and the only one who wasn’t aware of his actual gayness.

  14. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat then returned for their sixth installment that showed the entire cast involved with a Jeffery’s sketch from ’01, including host, Sean Hayes, kept cracking up after because of Will Ferrell’s fashion character who I’m sure his Mugatu character from Zoolander was, at least partially, based on.

  15. After a long, long wait, Kenan Thompson debuted his D’Andre Cole character who has his own talk show and interrupts his guest every word by jumping into the theme for his show titled, What Up With That?

  16. SNL Backstage With Bud Light Golden Wheat returned for one last installment where we got to see a robot struggling to crash through a breakaway wall from the rehearsal of a sketch called Robot Dinner from ’95.

  17. Cottage Cheese Pitch had Gerard Butler at a pitch meeting for a new line of cottage cheese that he was having with a client played by Jason Sudeikis. Meanwhile, throughout the entire session, Butler’s secretary, as played by Kristen Wiig, kept annoying everyone in the room by continually interrupting and calling out Butler’s character’s name.

  18. Shakira then returned to the stage to perform Did It Again.

  19. Daveheart was a parody of Braveheart where Gerard Butler played the younger brother of the Scottish hero, who was no hero at all, in fact, he was a complete coward.

  20. Finally, Gerard Butler closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E05... HOST: TAYLOR SWIFT... DATE: NOVEMBER 7, 2009

SNL: S35E05... HOST: TAYLOR SWIFT... DATE: NOVEMBER 7, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a sketch called End Of An Era that parodied FOX News coverage that had Kristen Wiig as Greta Van Susteren and other cast member as other news anchors discussed the end of President Obama’s era following the ’09 Special Election where the Democrats lost control of their majority. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Taylor Swift then officially opened the show with a monolog about how she grew up loving the show, only to go on to describe the Bill Hader and Andy Samberg sketches that were her favorites as a kid. After this, she switched gears to sing a song about the topics she won’t be bringing up in her monolog since she opts to keep certain beliefs to herself. The final thing that she wasn’t going to talk about was the Kanye West microphone grabbing incident that must have just happened.

  3. This was followed by a fake ad for Carter N' Sons BBQ where, in a commercial “filmed years ago,” Bobby Moynihan portrayed a pitchman named Ronnie Carter who along with country western fam promoted Swine Fever as something you’ll get from their all you can eat pork special. This was around the time of the swine flu scare, making fun of the old diet chocolate aid called Ayds that came out just a couple years before AIDS started to make headlines, so there were on-screen text and voiceovers to explain the crazy mistake.

  4. We then got another parody of The View which was pretty much the same as all the other The View segments only with Taylor Swift playing Kate Gosselin and Andy Samberg also dropped in as Nicholas Cage.

  5. This week’s SNL Digital Short was called Firelight which was a fake trailer a parody of Twilight, only instead of werewolves and vampires, it was teenage Frankensteins and Mummies.

  6. Hollywood Dish was a new fictional entertainment talk show that had Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig as the show’s host to feign their interest in Taylor Swift while interviewing her as herself.

  7. Teens Raising Awareness About Awful Parent Drivers was a PSA that featured Taylor Swift as a teen who rallied against thoughtless parental driving habit in response to the growing new trend of the complaints about teens texting while they drive.

  8. Taylor Swift then switched to musical guest mode to perform You Belong With Me.

  9. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Fred Armisen returned as his comedian character who always attempts to rip new jokes from the newspaper headlines but always fails to make a point. Abby Elliot then stopped in as Sarah McLachlan, claiming she was there to promote the Lilith Fair only to bamboozle us all and turn the segment into a depressing one about neglected dogs. Amy Poehler then dropped in for a surprise visit for another round of Really!?! with Seth about how Goldman Sach’s was caught hoarding swine flu vaccines despite there being a massive shortage. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  10. Kristen Wiig’s one-uping character Penelope then returned after a long absence in order to ruin the marriage between Bill Hader and Abby Elliot with her one-uping ways. Meanwhile, Penelope’s actions infuriated Taylor Swift who was a guest that couldn’t believe Penelope was ruining this special day.

  11. Scared Straight also returned for another parody where this time Kenan Thompson’s inmate sidekick was Taylor Swift who helped him scare kids out of jail, only to be called out for always using horror stories of prison that they both stole from films.

  12. Roomies had Andy Samberg hanging out with Nasim Pedrad at her home. As much as Samberg wanted alone time with his date, she was too physically attached to her roommate Taylor Swift for there to be any chance for this new couple to make out.

  13. Taylor Swift then switched back to musical guest mode to perform Untouchable.

  14. Bunny Business was a fake trailer for the soundtrack for a movie that had a bunch of animated bunnies in business suits going through the motions at their cubicle farm day jobs while Taylor Swift and several members of the cast impersonated several singers to perform their Bunny Business themed songs.

  15. Finally, Taylor Swift closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S35E06... HOST: JANUARY JONES... DATE: NOVEMBER 14, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with A Message From The Vice-President Of The United States where, once again, Jason Sudeikis as Joe Biden stole President Obama’s seat in The Oval Office while he was out of the country on another one of his tours. While pretending to be the leader of the “free world” Biden thought he would use this opportunity to quickly solve the Health Care dilemma which mainly involved caving in to anything that would get the right to agree just to accomplish something. With this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. January Jones then officially opened the show with a monolog where she struggled to read through a description of her show Mad Men. She was then quickly interrupted by a bunch of cast member dressed as Mad Men fans who shared that they referred to themselves and Mad Mennies and dressed just like the Mad Men cast.

  3. This was followed by another parody of Today with more of the same only this time Hoda was played by Jenny Slate. Kristen Wiig continued to play Kathy Lee who was assaulted by tonight’s musical guest The Black Eyed Peas as she sang one of her atrocious songs while they were waiting backstage in the green room.

  4. We then went behind-the-scenes for the making of Rear Window where January Jones was on set to shoot her very first scene as Grace Kelly with Jason Sudeikis in the Jimmy Stewart role and Bobby Moynihan directing as Alfred Hitchcock. This was supposed to be a pretty intense scene only Grace Kelly kept ruining each take because she just could not stop farting.

  5. WIIX News brought back Kristen Wiig’s recently divorced reporter character who flirts with her female interviewee while reporting from the scene. There was nothing new with this installment other than the interviewee in question was January Jones.

  7. Black Eyed Peas then took to the stage to perform I Gotta Feeling.

  8. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Darrell Hammond dropped in as Lou Dobbs to use racist remarks while attempting to explain why he was leaving CNN. Nasim Pedrad then stopped by as Kim Kardashian but only talked about herself when she was supposed to be discussing her sister Khloe’s celebrity-studded wedding. Jon Bovi the returned to sing their commentary on the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  9. This was followed by a parody of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde where Bill Hader as Dr. Jekyll made a desperate plead for funding for him to create his serum that reluctantly turned him into a gay Mr. Hyde.

  10. We then got another SNL Digital Short where Fred Armisen played a guy who walked in on his roommate Andy Samberg sitting on the toilet, no matter what room in the house, or even outside of the house, he entered.

  11. Black Eyed Peas then returned to the stage to perform Meet Me Halfway.

  12. Cloud Gazing had Jason Sudeikis and January Jones as a couple in the park staring up and pointing out what they see in the clouds. Though Sudeikis attempts to be romantic and point out the most beautiful things, it turns out that Jones has no imagination at all and see nothing but the literal clouds.

  13. Finally, January Jones closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights before throwing to the Black Eyed Peas who finished things off with a performance of Boom Boom Pow.

SNL: S35E07... HOST: JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT... DATE: NOVEMBER 21, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with parody C-SPAN coverage of a China Press Conference where Fred Armisen as Barack Obama managed to upset Will Forte as Chinese leader, Hu Jintao regarding money we owned to their country. Obama came in hot, claiming that America was happy to work with China as if we were the ones in control. This led Jintao to bring up the fact that the US owed China a ton of money so their feelings weren’t as mutual as Obama may have made it seem. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Joseph Gordon-Levitt then officially opened the show with a monolog about how happy he was to host and have such a great career which quickly transitioned into him performing the song and dance for Make ‘Em Laugh from Singing In The Rain.

  3. This was followed by a parody trailer for Palin 2012 that was shot like a suspense thriller where they cut together real news footage to make it look like Sarah Palin won the 2012 Presidential Election with her V.P. running mate, Glen Beck, which then brought about signs of our end times using footage from John Cusack 2012 end of the world film.

  4. Secret Word was a game show sketch hosted by Bill Hader who was constantly frustrated by his celebrity panelists, Mindy Gracin, and Ricardo Gonzales, as played by Kristen Wiig and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, could not grasp the concept of this simple/subtle game without sacrificing their massive egos.

  5. This was followed by another SNL Digital Short where Andy Samberg rapped about his insisted relationship with who he thinks is Reba McEntire who turned out to be Kenan Thompson in a red wig.

  6. Mellow Show then returned for another laid-back installment of Andy Samberg as Jack Johnson’s fictional talk show. This time he welcomed Bill Hader as Dave Matthews, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jason Mraz, and tonight’s musical guest Dave Matthews as a not-as-mellow-as-advertised Ozzy Osbourne.

  7. What Up With That? then returned for installment number two for more of the same from this repetitive series that I love. That same being, Kenan Thompson breaking into his What Up With That? theme song while continually cutting off his panel of guest which this time included the real Al Gore and special guest Mindy Kaling.

  8. Dave Matthews Band then took to the stage to perform You And Me.

  9. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, the real Al Gore stuck around from the last sketch to fulfill NBC’s “Green Week” platform by outlining a more passive-aggressive, downright crazy, approach to spreading the word about global warming.

  10. Sarcastic Thanksgiving Dinner then returned for another nod/rip off of the old fighting family sketch that would always end with Will Ferrell yelling about his ownership of a Dodge Stratus. Though I wouldn’t say this was original, I still don’t mind this sketch because it is a concept worth bringing back.

  11. Woman To Woman was, as you may guess from the title, a talk show sketch for woman by woman, only for this “episode” Fred Armisen played an extremely aggressive producer who filling in for the show’s female host, who couldn’t perform due to a last minute illness that knocked her out of commotion. Of course, comedy the ensued because of this horrible attempt at a quick fix.

  12. Dave Matthews Band then returned to the stage to perform Shake Me Like A Monkey.

  13. We then got to see a parody alternative ending to Say Anything with Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the John Cusack role who had to deal with the neighbor’s questioning while he stood in the yard for the classic scene where he holds the boom box over his head in his effort to win back Diane Court.

  14. Finally, Joseph Gordon-Levitt closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a sketch called White House Crashers that took during a speech from Fred Armisen as Barack Obama about the economy where Bobby Moynihan and Kristen Wiig played Tareq and Michaela Salahi who photo-bombed the President in the background throughout his entire address. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Blake Lively then officially opened the show with a monolog about excited she was to be in New York for Christmas and then shared a story from a party with The Muppets following the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting. Seconds later, the cast joined our host, reprising their impersonation of The Muppets they played last year to help Lively sing several Christmas carols.

  3. We then got a repeat of the Carter N' Sons BBQ commercial from just a couple of weeks ago where, in the world of the sketch, Bobby Moynihan’s BBQ restaurant owning pitchman kept claiming that his pork would give you “Swine Fever,” that came out just before the fears from the recent outbreak of swine flu.

  4. Vagisil Superstars Of Bowling Tournament 1989 was a follow up to the woman’s billiards sketch from a couple of weeks ago, only this time Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte played the same sports reporters who were too hung up on the feminine product sponsor to fully pay attention to the bowling event that they were supposed to call.

  5. We then got a parody of The Situation Room where Darrell Hammond as Wolf Blitzer attempted to interview Kenan Thompson and Blake Lively as Kenan Thompson and his wife about the Ambien incident that led Tiger to crash his car into a tree. This incident also involved Tiger’s cheat which caused Lively to beat Tiger whenever the cameras weren’t on.

  6. This was followed by another SNL Digital Short where, musical guest, Rihanna performed a duet of the song about education to a classroom of children with Andy Samberg’s character, Shy Ronnie, who looked silently tormented as he mumbled through his part of the song. Ronnie dropped the shy routine and burst into a hardcore rap, the second Rihanna left the room but was back to his shy quite self when she returned to grab her purse.

  7. Gossip Girl: Staten Island was a parody of Blake Lively’s show only instead of taking place in the privileged Upper East Side of New York City setting, this version of the show took place in the Staten Island slums.

  8. Kickspit Underground Rock Festival was a fake ad where Jason Sudeikis and Nasim Pedrad portrayed their characters/pitchpeople D.J. Super Soak and Lil’ Pump in order to promote an under-underground rock festival. This event not only featured crazy unheard of bands but also viruses, pitchforks, and the late Ass Dan, who I remember from their future Juggalo themed commercial from this same series.

  9. Rihanna then took to the stage to perform Russian Roulette.

  10. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Kenan Thompson stopped by as Bill Cosby to give a mumbled-jumbledly explanation of his first attempt at a hip-hop album. Abby Elliot also wandered behind the desk as Brittany Murphy because she was so out of it she thought that she was this week’s host. Unfortunately, this joke was made just weeks before Murphy’s unexpected death making it not all that fun to rewatch.

  11. Skirt Shopping brought back Kenan Thompson’s character who used to always plays the stepmother to many of the white female hosts who hasn’t been on for, what feels like, years. This time, it was more of the same, only Blake Lively was the stepdaughter, and the two were out looking for skirts in a shop that was way too upscale for Lively’s hoochie style.

  12. UPS made fun of the brand new style whiteboard commercials that UPS introduced to the world, that is now unavoidable on the internet. Only these old ads actually had a human drawing, and this sketch had Bill Hader in that role as he declared that he was a man in a lady’s wig who was also UPS’s gift to the world.

  13. Late Night With Chris Hansen showed up what the world would be like if there was a late night talk show version of To Catch A Predator only with celebrity guest who had no intentions of harming any children, making the swarming cops even more of a surprise.

  14. UPS then returned for round two where this time Bill Hader shared his plans to make more commercials for UPS and that his stick figure guy was going to have sex with the stick figure women that he draws.

  15. Rihanna then took to the stage with Young Jeezy to perform Hard.

  16. Potato Chip Thief had Jason Sudeikis as a scientist who was applying for a job at NASA and then blows his chances when he steals one of Will Forte’s, carefully-counted, thirty-five potato during their interview and then had the nerve to lie about it.

  17. Finally, Blake Lively closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S35E09... HOST: TAYLOR LAUTNER... DATE: DECEMBER 12, 2009

SNL: S35E09... HOST: TAYLOR LAUTNER... DATE: DECEMBER 12, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with parody C-SPAN coverage for a sketch called The Other Affairs that took place at a press conference where Jason Sudeikis, Bill Hader, and Will Forte played politicians who were recently caught up in extramarital affairs who were all annoyed with Tiger Woods for his current affair superseding their own in the headlines. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Taylor Lautner then officially opened the show with a monolog about his Twilight career and relationship with Taylor Swift. This led Lautner to attempt to perform a spinning heel kick to a cardboard cutout of Kanye West for his mic stealing stunt at the recent VMAs. He missed the kick two or three times before finally giving up and punching the dummy’s head off.

  3. This was followed by behind the scenes footage from a fake Rose Bowl Promo where Taylor Lautner portrayed the backup-backup-quarterback who was a bundle of nerves while posing for the Rose Bowl broadcast promo material.

  4. Surprise had Taylor Lautner and Abby Elliott as a couple who wanted to surprise Abby’s parents, Jason Sudeikis and Nasim Pedrad, with news of their first pregnancy, only Kristen Wiig as her Aunt Sue character struggled to keep herself from spoiling the surprise, as usual.

  5. PGA Tour was the first in a series of three where Jason Sudeikis played the golf commissioner who struggled to make the PGA organization relevant now that Tiger Woods was taking an indefinite break from golf.

  6. The Sparkle Players Choir Assembly had Andy Samberg as a student/heckler who ruined a forced performance by the Northeast Middle School’s Sparkle Players who were already nervous enough to perform for the entire school at an assembly.

  7. PGA Tour then returned for round two where this time Jason Sudeikis tried to apply a quick fix solution to Tiger Woods’s absence from the sport by announcing new sexy caddies for the upcoming PGA Tour.

  8. Bon Jovi then took to the stage to perform Superman Tonight.

  9. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Nasim Pedrad dropped by as Tiger Woods’ Mistress Number 15 to justify her participation in his infidelity streak. Fred Armisen also returned as his Native American comedian character who tells nothing but jokes that going over the non-Native audience members’ heads because of his cultural references. (Clip 2)

  10. Twilight Debate took place at a school where Bill Hader played a science teacher who forced Taylor Lautner as a girl and Abby Elliot into a debate to settle their Twilight-based Team Edward/Team Jacob bickering so that he can finally get back to teaching the class.

  11. PGA Tour then returned for round three where a drunken Sudeikis was on suicide watch over his fears that he had no more stars to draw viewers in to watch golf.

  12. Eternal Spark Of Love had Kenan Thompson monitor the budding romance between Taylor Lautner and Abby Elliott, as a smooth-talking Barry White-type at a Fro-Yo shop.

  13. Bon Jovi then returned to the stage to perform When We Were Beautiful.

  14. Doorbells And More was as the title suggests a fake ad with Jenny Slate as the pitchwoman who pitch a variety of talking doorbells and more.

  15. Finally, Taylor Lautner closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E10... HOST: JAMES FRANCO... DATE: DECEMBER 19, 2009

SNL: S35E10... HOST: JAMES FRANCO... DATE: DECEMBER 19, 2009

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with another parody of The Lawrence Welk Show. This installment played out the same as the rest of the sketches from this series with Fred Armisen as Lawrence Welk who introduced our host as his musical guest. James Franco played a singer named Ric Garlando who performed a song and dance with several female members of the cast as his background singers, including Kristen Wiig as her high-foreheaded/small-handed youngest sister. As always, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. James Franco then officially opened the show with a monolog about how his first visit took place right before he took a break from acting to go back to college. He then shared a few minor roles that he landed post-college that led to his gig on General Hospital which many at the time were saying was a step backward in his career. This led him to pull out a raffle spinning box filled with suggestions from fans that he joked was how he picked each new step in his career.

  3. What Up With That then returned for another installment of my favorite series of sketches from this period, that, like the opening sketch, is repetitive as all get out but I still love it. This time Kenan kept singing the titular theme song with the real Mike Tyson and Jack McBrayer as the guest who he continually interrupts.

  4. The Vogelcheck’s Family is another repetitive sketch to return for another installment of the overly affectionate Vogelcheck family that greet one another and any visitor with open arms and sloppy kisses. This time James Franco played the son who brought his girlfriend Abbey Elliot home to be shocked by the families closeness, only to be won over and join in by the end of the sketch after much man-on-man making out.

  5. We then got another SNL Digital Short that had to cast as a bunch of kids who start on a kids show called The Tizzle Wizzle Show where they took lots of pills and played with knives with James Franco as their confused guest star for the night.

  6. The Manuel Ortiz Show was another sketch to return for another parody of this Spanish talk show where the guest can’t fit in a word edgewise without the entire set breaking into a celebratory Spanish dance.

  7. Muse then took to the stage to perform Uprising.

  8. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Bobby Moynihan dropped in as Snooki to comment on the shenanigans from her new show Jersey Shores after the incident where she got punched in the face at a bar. Fred Armisen and Kristen Wiig also introduced their characters who are a couple who came in as if they were prepared to sing their new Christmas song and then struggle to guess one another’s lyrics as they make up the tune on the spot. (Clip 2) (Bonus Clip)

  9. Sigma Lambda Omega took place in a frat house where new pledge, Andy Samberg realized that his potential frat brothers, as played by our host and a handful of male members of the cast, are all illiterate and lacked any basic educational skills when their hazing techniques were revealed how they get their pledges to read their mail and perform the most rudimentary brain-requiring chores.

  10. Variety Vault then returned for yet another repetitive sketch from a series where we flashed back to an old Vincent Price Christmas Special filled with the cast doing impersonation from that time.

  11. Christmas Trees had James Franco as a Christmas tree salesman who struggled to sever his emotional ties with his merchandise whenever he made a sale.

  12. Muse then returned to the stage to perform Starlight.

  13. Christmas Gift Meeting had James Franco, Will Forte, and Bill Hader as three business executives who all strained their brains to figure out what gift to give their employees other than dildos for their annual holiday gift. The turned out to be a follow up to the first sketch from this series where Hader and Forte were with another host trying to work out their convoluted schedule.

  14. Mark Wahlberg Talks to Christmas Animals was the follow up to Mark Wahlberg talking to animals from last year, in another sketch that was more of the same only with a Christmas theme.

  15. Finally, James Franco closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E11... HOST: CHARLES BARKLEY... DATE: JANUARY 9, 2010

SNL: S35E11... HOST: CHARLES BARKLEY... DATE: JANUARY 9, 2010

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a parody of The Situation Room where once again, Jason Sudeikis played Wolf Blitzer to host a segment that called attention to a disjointed U.S.-Yemen joint press conference between Will Forte as David Petraeus and Fred Armisen as Ali Abdullah Saleh as they attempted to add to the latest round of fear mongering following the Underwear Bomber incident. Throughout the sketch, Petraeus kept attempting to say that the U.S. and Yemen were working as a team while Saleh kept hinting how the U.S. was actually funding their efforts to do terrorist-related things. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Charles Barkley then officially opened the show with a monolog where he roasted the show for not having enough black host and then turned his mean-spirited jokes to the audience to reassure everyone how he’s a brutally honest guy, who doesn’t hold anything back, following a recent run of controversies from our host.

  3. This was followed by a fake ad for Thomas Peepers Insurance where Bill Hader pitched this service as a representative who was actually a peeping Tom that promised he’d keep your family safe by watching them whether it be night or day.

  4. Reel Quotes was a movie-themed game show parody hosted by Bill Hader with Charles Barkley and Kristen Wiig as the two contestants. The premise of the game had Hader sharing the world’s most familiar/obvious movie quotes to then have the contestants guess the movie, only Barkley and Wiig were both so out of it, they couldn’t place even the simplest of movie quotes.

  5. MacGruber then returned for another series of sketches where this time our fake TV hero attempted to make a racial joke that didn’t sit well with Charles Barkley who played the new team member who blew up with MacGruber and Kristen Wiig due to the distraction the conflict caused.

  6. Sexy Shana then returned for another installment of Kristen Wiig in the titular role who’s sexy as all get out but turns every man off whenever she talked while on a company trip at a ski lodge.

  7. MacGruber then returned for round two where this time the crew blew up after because the racial sensitivity training had our fake TV hero so afraid to even say the word black that he couldn’t tell Barkley which color pen to grab because it was the black one.

  8. This was followed by parody coverage of Inside The NBA where Charles Barkley and Jason Sudeikis announced a game along with their special guest Andy Samberg who played a Make-A-Wish recipient who suffered from OCD. At first, the announcers were confused since OCD is not terminal but then after calling the kid out they learned it actually stands for Overwhelming Corpse Disease.

  9. MacGruber then finished off the rule of three comedy that had our fake TV hero who just returned from Africa after getting in touch with his “inner negro” in an effort to win things over with Barkley, but they all still ended up getting blown up in the tradition sketch closing explosion.

  10. Alicia Keys then took to the stage to perform Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart.

  11. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Bill Hader dropped by as James Carver to rebut the Republican response to the Christmas bombing attack, or what’s grown to be known as the Underwear Bomber incident. Andy Samberg also stopped by as a rambling Nicholas Cage to discuss his newly-appointed duties as Goodwill Ambassador On Drugs And Crime. Fred Armisen then made fun of the blind David Paterson again through another impersonation where he commented on his angry State Of The State address while also continuing to make fun of New Jersey. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  12. The Haney Project is another sketch that I’ve been waiting for since I started this challenge. This sketch is a parody of a brilliant show from the golf channel where Hank Haney tried to correct Charles Barkley’s hilariously bizarre golf swing. This parody had Jason Sudeikis as Hank Haney as he attempted to correct other of Barkley’s bizarre technique he uses to get through his daily life.

  13. We then got another SNL Digital Short called Booty Call where, musical guest, Alicia Keys made a drunken booty call to Andy Samberg’s Lionel character who was just a questionably gay nerd who’s totally down and even offered to get Kristen Wiig as his Nana involved. At the end of the sketch, we learned that this Lionel character took this booty call while at an intervention for a friend who had a severe drug problem.

  14. Alicia Keys then returned to the stage to perform Empire State Of Mind.

  15. Scared Straight then returned for more of the same from the sketch that I love, only this time, Charles Barkley was Kenan Thompson’s sidekick who attempted to scare the kids with movie storylines that they claim to be their own.

  16. Barkley's Bank was a fake ad where Charles Barkley pitched the gambling scam that he planned to use your money toward if you were to invest in his very own personal bank.

  17. Finally, Charles Barkley closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E12... HOST: SIGOURNEY WEAVER... DATE: JANUARY 16, 2010

SNL: S35E12... HOST: SIGOURNEY WEAVER... DATE: JANUARY 16, 2010

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a parody of Larry King Live where Fred Armisen reprised his role as Larry King to moderate a late-night talk show summit between Darrell Hammond as Jay Leno and Bill Hader as Conan O’Brien. This sketch was in reference to the second round of late night wars where Leno screwed over Conan the same way he screwed over David Letterman. As always, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Sigourney Weaver then officially opened the show with a monolog about how this was her second time as a host and then showed a photo from her first monolog, mainly to show off her horrific ‘80s get-up. She then revealed that despite the fact she’s known for taking so many intense roles, she actually not a fan of scary movies and then was easily terrified by Kristen Wiig who joined her on stage to say that she was a fan. She then finished the night by reading her father’s original memo for The Tonight Show since he the president of NBC when she was a kid and was responsible for starting The Tonight Show.

  3. This was followed by a fake ad for Grady Wilson's Fifty And Freaky where this time, Kenan Thompson’s Grady Wilson character demonstrated a few new of his sex techniques in his series of instructive tapes with this video’s focus on how to please women over fifty as a way to get Sigourney Weaver involved.

  4. Summer's Eve Lady Stars Of Darts Championship 1988 was another reoccurring sketch to return where this time it was more fun and games at the expense of feminine hygiene products while Jason Sudeikis and Will Forte reprised their ‘80s sports announcers who, for some reason, announce every obscure televised women’s sport.

  5. We then got another SNL Digital Short which is by far my favorite Laser Cats of them all because it was “directed by” James Cameron with Sigourney Weaver as the star for somewhat of a reboot of Alien/Avatar/Laser Cats mashup.

  6. Disco Booty Junction had Sigourney Weaver, and Kristen Wiig played two disco singers for a group called Amber And Cream, only after their performance on a ‘70s talk show, host, Kenan Thompson, struggled to get a straight answer out of either girl as to which one was Amber and which one was Cream.

  7. The Ting Tings then took to the stage to perform That's Not My Name.

  8. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Andy Samberg returned as Larry The Goose which was the goose that got hit by the famous Sully and led him to crash land his plan. This was the anniversary of the event so Larry the goose read a list of names of the other geese that died in the incident. All of these names were parodies of celebrity names like, Goose Springsteen, and Feather Locklear. Abby Elliot also stopped by as Meryl Streep in order to humbly share the fact that not only is she a great actress but a great guest as well. Throughout this segment with Mrs. Streep, she also kept receiving rewards for her every action, adding to her “humble” demeanor. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  9. We then got a parody of Avatar where we got to see what Bill Hader went through in the simulator during the infamous sex scene between his blue Avatar and the genuine blue alien. Meanwhile, Andy Samberg and Nasim Pedrad played the two blue aliens who performed the intense Na’vi sex ritual that caused Bill Hader’s frail human body to flail about to each new move while stuck in the Avatar creating machine.

  10. Get Ready For Riley introduced a new character from Fred Armisen who was at his friend Andy Samberg’s family’s house for dinner and kept calling everyone a bitch in a Harvey Fierstein-style effeminate tone while everyone else tried their hardest to humor their extremely rude guest.

  11. Internet Buzz took us to Sigourney Weaver’s home for her Golden Globe Award viewing party where she was too distracted by her obsessive reading of online reviews of her own work to pay attention to her guests or the award show in general.

  12. The Ting Tings then returned to the stage to perform Shut Up And Let Me Go.

  13. Fire And Rice had Sigourney Weaver as a lounge singer named Jessica Fire and Bobby Moynihan as her piano player. Throughout the performance of their song, Fire fear of falling off the tall piano she was sitting on while she sang, led to an extremely odd performance.

  14. Finally, Sigourney Weaver closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S35E13... HOST: JON HAMM... DATE: JANUARY 30, 2010

SNL: S35E13... HOST: JON HAMM... DATE: JANUARY 30, 2010

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with parody NBC coverage of The State Of The Union 2010 that cut back and forth between footage from the real event showing the Democrats give Fred Armisen as Barack Obama a standing ovation after every other word that he said while the Republicans all sat and grumbled. Meanwhile, the main focus of the speech was Obama trying to justify his failures, or just rambling about sports and other random off-topic nonsense. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Jon Hamm then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he was happy to be back and how he had a career before Mad Men. This led our host to share a few “clips” from his pre-Mad Men portfolio where he still acted like Don Draper only for different genres of film and television. These genres included everything from teen comedies to QVC segments, and he even did a stand-up routine on Def Jam Comedy.

  3. 1920's Party took us to New York City in 1928 where Kristen Wiig played a character who struggled to hold herself back from singing at her own birthday party when, clearly, no one was interested. Eventually, they all gave it, since it was her special day and we quickly learned why everyone else was so reluctant.

  4. We then got another SNL Digital Short that was a parody of the movie Thinner called The Curse Of Sergio where Fred Armisen played a homeless Native American who put said curse upon Andy Samberg who played a businessman who unapologetically stepped on Armisen’s sacred talisman. The actual curse was Jon Hamm as the namesake Sergio who would randomly burst into Samberg’s life to play the saxophone with a greasy mullet, minus a shirt. Samberg finally managed to break the curse by settling things up with Fred Armisen, but the curse then returned five years later when Andy’s pregnant wife, Kristen Wiig, broke the talisman again which then led the sax playing Sergio to join the scene from her womb.

  5. New Senator had Will Forte as Harry Reid who tried to outline a serious strategy while several members of the cast played both male and female members of the Senate who were all too focused on fantasizing about Jon Hamm as Scott Brown to hear a single word.

  6. Michael Buble then took to the stage to perform Haven't Met You Yet.

  7. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Nasim Pedrad stopped by as Supreme Court Justice Sotomayor to discuss her recent criticism of Justice Alito over his views on campaign finance reform. Bobby Moynihan also returned as Snooki to discuss the recent Jersey Shore standoff with the show’s producers in their joint effort to demand for higher pay for their show. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  8. Game Time With Randy And Greg then returned for another installment of the sports program that is more focused on whether or not Bill Hader’s character is an alien and has nothing to do with sports. This time Hader’s alien character was joined by our host, Jason Sudeikis, and Will Forte as his clones with a surprise at the end where Bryan Tucker and Michael Patrick O’Brien, and two other randos joined in as clones as well as the aliens doubled in numbers each time they cut back and forth.

  9. We then got a fake ad for Hamm And Buble where Jon Hamm and tonight’s musical guest, Michael Buble pitched their new joint venture where Hamm forced Buble to mispronounce his own name to promote their line of ham and champagne restaurants. Buble was there to sing the jingle to promote the establishment and kept sneaking in messages for help into the lyrics.

  10. This was followed by another fake ad for the Closet Organizer where Will Forte played the product being promoted, which was him dressed almost like The Tick and he lived in your closet and would organize anything you’d throw toward the closet door.

  11. Stenographer had Fred Armisen as a stenographer who was extremely disruptive by making a ton of noise with her typewriter since she didn’t know how to work the stenography machine. Not only was her typing very distracting but she would also chime in from time to time as if she were watching the case on TV at home and wasn’t professional at all.

  12. Michael Buble then took to the stage with Sharon Jones to perform Baby (You've Got What It Takes).

  13. We then went to a Bar where Jon Hamm and Will Forte, as the Closet Organizer character having just gotten off work, discuss Forte’s miserable day. Meanwhile, Hamm was just excited to meet the commercial celebrity, but then ruined it all by asking Forte to organize his closet if they were to hang out.

  14. American Enterprise had Jon Hamm and Will Forte as William Barnes and G. Clifford Noble where we learned that their initial plan was to start a business so that homeless people would have a place to go to the bathroom and only added the bookselling aspect to Barnes And Nobel to fill all of the extra space.

  15. Finally, Jon Hamm closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E14... HOST: ASHTON KUTCHER... DATE: FEBRUARY 6, 2010

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a parody of On The Record With Greta Van Susteren that had Kristen Wiig as Greta Van Susteren to host a segment of her show. The topic of the night was the Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell policy with Bobby Moynihan as Karl Rove, Will Forte as Oliver North, Bill Hader as Robert Gibbs, and Abby Elliot as a random hot blonde anchor who was there to distract them all, the way FOX News loves to do. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Ashton Kutcher then officially opened the show with a monolog about how the Super Bowl was the next day, which was followed by a quick plug. He then shared how he was turning thirty-two at the stroke of midnight and how now he’s super mature, but his newfound maturity only to quickly regress thanks to random awesomeness like a dog on a surfboard, dancing old ladies, and various other immature temptations that got him back to acting dumb and young.

  3. Gertrude's Will took us to a law office where Bill Hader played a lawyer who read a hundred-ten-year-old lady’s will following her death. Ashton Kutcher played her pool boy who expected a significant inheritance only to end up with pool privileges and a case of chlamydia.

  4. This was followed by a parody of The View for more of the same with this series making fun of the real show, only this time Ashton Kutcher played their guest.

  5. This was followed by a fake ad for Cialis For Threeways which as the title suggests was for a fake male enhancement aid “with room for one more.”

  6. Slave Boy took us back to the Roman days where Will Forte played the king who enjoyed having grapes fed to him by his slave boy who was played by Ashton Kutcher.

  7. Them Crooked Vultures then took to the stage to perform Mind Eraser, No Chaser.

  8. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Andy Samberg dropped by as a new character named Liam, the teenager who just woke up, and is too insufficiently rested to perform his political commentary about the federal budget. Bill Hader also stopped by as Eliot Spitzer to read a few Valentine’s Day cards for couples who’ve gone from “scandals and such.” Kenan returned as his French Def Jam comedian character to joke about the European financial crisis before Fred Armisen and Kristen Wiig returned to improvise a new Valentine’s Day song “on the spot.” (Clip 2) (Clip 3) (Clip 4) (Clip 5)

  9. This was followed by a game show sketch where the host only had one question, which was, What Is Burn Notice? Though this may sound pretty simple, it totally stumped the panel of contestants.

  10. We then got a parody of Access Hollywood where Ashton Kutcher played Billy Bush, and Nasim Pedrad played Maria Menounos cover the Oscar announcements for Best Picture that not only included every film from the year, but also included things like sports stars, stores, and more.

  11. An Even-Tempered Apology From White House Chief Of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, had Andy Samberg as Rahm Emanuel who spewed expletives to Sarah Palin’s response to his use of the word “retarded.”

  14. Finally, Ashton Kutcher closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S35E15... HOST: JENNIFER LOPEZ... DATE: FEBRUARY 27, 2010

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with the parody follow-up to We Are The World where Kenan Thompson played Quincy Jones who decided to make We Are The World III. This reboot had the cast imitated popular musician from this time for a half-assed of this charitable song that was meant to benefit the people who sang We Are The World II for Haiti, following their disastrous attempt to raise awareness of their struggle following the tragic earthquake that hit around this time. Of course, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Jennifer Lopez then officially opened the show with a monolog where our host shared how much she’s changed since she first appeared on the show as the musical guest ten years before this episode. While sharing examples of the differences from her peek diva days, we learned her humbling was terrible news for Kenan Thompson who played an ex-member of her entourage that used to get paid to hold her orange juice as well as Bill Hader and Jason Sudeikis who played a pair of drag queen fans who missed her over-the-top fashion trends.

  3. Gyne-Lotrimin Ladies' World Cup Of Curling 1987 was another in the series of this repetitive sketch that I love since it reminds me of the golden days of channel surfing when I used to watch all of these obscure televised female sport. This week, Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis were too hung up on their sponsor to call a curling bout between Jennifer Lopez and Kristen Wiig.

  4. We then got another SNL Digital Short which was a visual display of the Flags Of The World through a music video that started out featuring actual flags from different countries but then went to highlight all kinds of crazy flags, including one devoted to those who love Batty White.

  5. Hollywood Dish was another repetitive reoccurring sketch to return with Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader as two hosts of an entertainment show who both clearly fake their interest in their guest, Jennifer Lopez’s answers to all of their questions.

  6. Telemundo Winter Olympics Coverage was, as the title suggests, parody Telemundo coverage of that year’s Winter Olympics with their Telemundo anchors struggling to comprehend the merit of cold weather sports.

  7. We then got a fake ad for Undercover Celebrity Boss that had several members of the cast as celebrity CEO to show how horrible they were at hiding their identities for this celebrity version of the popular CBS show.

  8. Jennifer Lopez then switched to musical guest mode to perform Pieces.

  9. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Bobby Moynihan dropped by as himself to highlight how annoying laptop people used to be when they’d want to share a YouTube video, back when the internet was still too slow for videos to stream without rebuffering throughout the entire video. Fred Armisen also made fun of the blind David Paterson once again, this time to comment on the fact that he wasn’t doing to run for reelection. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  10. Besos Y Lagrimas was a parody of a Mexican soap opera that featured a love triangle between Jennifer Lopez, Kristen Wiig, and Fred Armisen.

  11. Eternal Spark Of Love brought back Kenan Thompson’s Barry White-talking character who narrates budding romance, this time to tell the tale of Jennifer Lopez and Jason Sudeikis as they attempt to start up an office romance.

  12. Jennifer Lopez then switched back to musical guest mode to perform Starting Over.

  13. Smash Mouth Night Terrors had Nasim Pedrad as a child who struggled to sleep because Smash Mouth kept performing in her bedroom in a sketch that was very reminiscing of the classic with Gilda Radner where she kept calling her parents for legitimate fears while attempting to go to bed.

  14. Car Horns And More was a follow-up to Doorbells and more only this time Jenny Slate and Jennifer Lopez pitched talking horns and more instead of the talking doorbells.

  15. We then got a repeat of the Closet Organizer commercial from two weeks ago where Will Forte played a man in a suit that made him look like The Tick, and he would organize anything that you threw at him into the user’s closet.

  16. Finally, Jennifer Lopez closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S35E16... HOST: ZACH GALIFIANAKIS... DATE: MARCH 6, 2010

SNL: S35E16... HOST: ZACH GALIFIANAKIS... DATE: MARCH 6, 2010

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with parody C-SPAN coverage of a Presidential Address On Health Care Reform where, once again, Fred Armisen played Barack Obama to share how he was hell-bent on passing a health care reform bill. He didn’t even care if the bill being passed was unpopular. The President just wanted to pass something so that he can fulfill one of his campaign promises before the end of his first term. As always, with this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Zach Galifianakis then officially opened the show with one of his stand-up routines where he started telling jokes as if it were a more traditional monolog that received the biggest response from the audience than I’ve seen from this show in years. After a few introductory bits, he then moved to the side of the stage to tell several one-liners while playing a soft atmospheric tune on a piano.

  3. The Vogelcheck Family then returned for more men making out with men. This time with the premise that the overly physically affectionate family greeted each other with big hugs and wet kisses while at a funeral and Zach Galifianakis joined in with the kissing as the priest who was in charge of the services. Jenny Slate played this week’s outsider to be disturbed by the mouth kissing family.

  4. Bidet took us to a hotel where Zach Galifianakis and Kristen Wiig played a couple on vacation who were curious to test the limits that can be imposed upon the bidet that came with the room while Andy Samberg as their bellhop attempted to show them the entire hotel suite.

  5. Zach Drops By The Set was a segment that showed Zach Galifianakis videobombing various NBC shows from throughout the week while he was allowed to wander the NBC studios in between rehearsing for tonight’s show.

  6. This was followed by another parody of Today where once again, Kristen Wiig and Jenny Slate played Kathie Lee and Hoda for more of the same Today parody nonsense. Only this time, Zach Galifianakis kept peeking in through the window, partially to play off the previous sketch where Zach was videobombing, with the added storyline that Galifianakis was obsessed with Hoda.

  7. Vampire Weekend then took to the stage to perform Cousins.

  8. Once again, Seth Meyers gave us the news. This week, Kenan Thompson dropped by as Mo’Nique to practice her Oscar speech, in order to hold it down for forty-five seconds. Will Forte also stopped by to sing a song to commemorate Women’s Herstory Month. (Clip 2) (Clip 3)

  9. What Up With That? then returned for another installment of my favorite series from this time, where, as always, Kenan Thompson played a host who would do nothing but sing his theme song while ignoring his star-studded panel of real guests who don’t get to say a word, which this week included Paul Rudd, and Frank Rich.

  10. This was followed by a parody of The Situation Room where once again, Jason Sudeikis portrayed Wolf Blitzer to deliver the hard news as provided by CNN viewers about the college tuition issue in America. As always, the old folks in charge of writing the sketch made fun of the youth for being dumb, forgetting how they were/are the idiots to their parent’s generation. That said, the sketch also made fun of the old folks in the news for not understanding technology, and letting youthful offensive slang into their “serious” broadcast.

  11. Vampire Weekend then returned to the stage to perform Giving Up The Gun.

  12. Pageant Talk had Jenny Slate as a beauty queen who’s moment in the sun following a big win was ruined by her parents, Zach Galifianakis, and Kristen Wiig, who kept bickering while trying to interview their daughter their pageant themed talk show.

  13. Finally, Zach Galifianakis then closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights

  4. Secret Word then returned for another installment of a ‘70s style game show with Kristen Wiig and Jude Law playing two celebrities from the time who are too self-involved and out of it to grasp this simple game, killing the chance of their civilian contestant counterpart to win the grand prize.

  10. This was followed by a parody of the classic The Twilight Zone where Jude Law played the airline passenger who swore that he saw a gremlin on the plane’s wing. In this telling, Bobby Moynihan played the gremlin who was up to all sorts of wackiness whenever he was seen.

  11. Hamlet Auditions took us to the fictional casing to see Jude Law’s competition for the Hamlet role that he referenced during his monolog.

  12. We then got a repeat of the Kickspit Underground Rock Festival commercial from earlier in the season where Jason Sudeikis and Nasim Pedrad played two Juggalo-types who pitched an upcoming under-underground music festival.

  13. Pearl Jam then returned to the stage to perform Unthought Known.

  14. Fred Armisen then returned as his Court Stenographer for almost an exact repeat of the character’s debut sketch where she’s exceptionally disruptive throughout a severe court case.

  15. Talk Show With Ravish had Nasim Pedrad as a prodigy child who was forced by his dad, Fred Armisen, to host a talk show in the family’s living room with Jude Law as his first guest.

  2. Tina Fey then officially opened the show with a monolog about how she was happy to be back as the host, which led to a bit of a stand-up style routine where she promoted all of her recent work. 1. This week's show started with a parody of Larry King Live with Fred Armisen as a newly divorced Larry King who discussed the Icelandic volcano eruption with Kristen Wiig as Bjork, who kept acting like her weird self with the volcano going off right behind her. Bill Hader as Richard Branson also joined the interview talk about how this natural disaster affected his airline, but he too was too wacky to make any sense as he talked to Larry King from a spaceship. As always, with this being an opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, “Live from New York…”

  2. Ryan Phillippe then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he actually has a connection with the show since he was there to promote the MacGruber movie where he was Will Forte’s costar. 3. We then got a repeat of the Broadview Security commercial from earlier in the season where Nasim Pedrad was a homeowner who needed a security system because a variety of male predators kept burst through any door to any room that she’s move to.

  4. Today Sponge Women's Weightlifting Championship 1986 was another installment of another favorite series of sketches where Will Forte and Jason Sudeikis played two ESPN anchor from the ‘80s who were too hung up on their female product sponsor to pay attention to this week’s sport. This week’s sport in question was powerlifting where Kristen Wiig took on Ryan Phillippe as a steroid filled beast of a woman.

  5. Hip Hop Kids had Ryan Phillippe and Kenan Thompson as to teenage hip-hop artists who ignorantly try to dance their way out of a cave during a bear attack, for round two of a very similar debut from last season, or maybe the season before.

Will Forte also dropped by as a character named Father Swim Coat Scoutmaster who was a creepy scoutmaster in a speedo who attempted to defend himself following a news story about a fondling instance within the Boy Scouts organization. Bobby Moynihan was the last guest who shared some secondhand news as his character with a bushy mustache, whose voice gets more and more high pitched when defending himself whenever Seth called out one of his inaccurate information. (Clip 2) (Clip 3) (Clip 4)

  14. I've Got It was a game show sketch that took place on a set that looked like a fancy dinner where Ryan Phillippe, Jason Sudeikis, and Will Forte played a son, a father, and a grandfather who all fought over who would be the big shot and pay the dinner bill in an effort to win the grand prize.

  2. Gabourey Sidibe then officially opened the show with a monolog about how the more Precious was her first movie role and how people confuse her for her character and assume that she’s miserable person based on the film. She was joined by the cast to provide back up for our host as she sang a variant of The Shoop Shoop Song in order to applaud herself as a well-adjusted person in real life.

  3. This was followed by the returned of The Suze Orman Show parody with Kristen Wiig as Suzy Orman who chatted finances and crazy jackets with Gabourey Sidibe as Margaret Davis.
