Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Fourteen, Dateline 4-24-2018

To meditate is to observe simultaneously the formation of thought and breath, and then let it go, without complicating it, without formalizing it, without identifying with it, without rejecting it, letting it follow its own way.
— Allen Ginsberg

Good morning Crickets. Here we go again for day number one-hundred-fourteen of Operation Achieve Anything. Currently the Achieve Anything… book is focused on meditation which is something that I really want to incorporate into my daily routine and have for many years. The problem is, I struggle with what most mediation books warn against, in that I expect there to be some sort of magical feeling that would let me know that I’m doing it right.

Sometimes I feel like I put so much pressure on myself to reach this magical mindset that I can’t enjoy that I find it hard to enjoy the relaxation that I should be feeling.  That’s to say, that I feel this pressure when I actively try a meditation technique. That’s why I try to passively meditate regularly by taking a nap in order to wind down after fulfilling my blogging obligation in order to switch gears into day job mode or whatever modes I need to be in to effectively finish my day.

Yes, I know, napping isn’t meditating but more than half the time, I don’t end up going to sleep and even when I do, it’s after lying in silence for at least a half-hour considering the fact that I always struggle to fall asleep. Whether or not any guru would agree, this form of meditation not only works for me but it also fulfills both today’s and tomorrow’s assignment, which makes this the third time that the book has had me practice sitting in silence as the task for the day, all why pushing the idea of meditation.

I would attempt to explain the difference since usually when assignments repeat there is at least a subtle difference. In this case, though the back-to-back lessons are the same with different wording, the assignments to practice sitting in silence are literally exactly the same.

I’m not sure how I plan to deal with this in tomorrow’s update since I think that I’ve said all that I need to say on the topic of meditation through this threepeat of lessons and tasks. We’ll see what happens but until then, I’m going to cut this one short and simple sign of by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
