Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Twenty-One, Dateline 5-1-2018

The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition.
— Thomas Edison

Good afternoon Crickets. Here we go again for day number one-hundred-twenty-one of Operation Achieve Anything, where I am still stuck in a bit of a limbo as I wait to find out whether or not I have a more permanent part-time job. Unfortunately, there’s no human interaction involved in the hiring process, so all I’ve got to go by is guesswork in trying to gauge my chances of getting the gig.

Again, this is a company that I’ve worked for on one-off tasks for multiple years and is my main source for random income, so I know it’s legit but they're not always good with their communications. The first major concern is that I’m not fully aware of just how permanent this position actually is. For all I know, this could be another short-term task being run by a different department than the one that I’m used to, so I could just be misreading the offer.

Next, I took a test to see if I qualify where I had to complete a few simple tasks. I earned a seventy-five percent which is passing but seems a little low to me. The problem is, this company’s tests are so subjective that they will often do a manual pass at grading them which always leads to a much higher score. This has me even more confident that I got the job.

Finally, I went to the work site after getting a notification about another task and found “Scope of Work” and “Salary” paperwork to fill out. This is another major positive sign but as I said, there is absolutely zero human interaction involved, so I’m not sure if this was “just in case” automation for in case they do take me on.

Either way, I’m going to continue to take advantage of this limbo phase and chill out after I finish my obligations. I figure, if I do get the job it will start right away so it would be nice to be well rested when I start because it will be adding to my workload since I have no plans to slow down my efforts toward my personal project. If I don’t land the gig, I’ll have to double down on my efforts to find another more permanent part-time job.

I used this same logic yesterday when I chose to hang out with my little sister and nephew for most of the day, which was also an effort to fulfill the assignment for the day. The task at hand was to help someone else to make their day a little easier. Granted, I still had fun watching Naked and Afraid with my family, but I also entertained my sister while distracting her son for a little while.

I try to do this often since she’s a stay at home mom who rarely gets a chance to escape which is why I swim with the kid almost daily. For one, she gets a little break but it also gives me a physical activity that gets me away from my desk. Unfortunately, it’s been too cold to swim recently but that just made it so that technically I was breaking my usual schedule to help in order to achieve the task at hand.

As for today’s assignment, the Achieve Anything… book is now focusing on diet and health which is an area of my life that’s the first thing I neglect whenever depression sets in. The task for today is to create a food journal where I’m supposed to track the food that I eat for an entire week without changing my habits at all.

Luckily, I just recently started another attempt to focus on the food that I eat so I shouldn’t be too embarrassed about what I will share next week when all of my entries are filled. We’ll see what happens but you’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s update in order to get more details. Until then, it’s now time for me to sign off as usual by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
