Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Eighty, Dateline 6-29-2018

I believe that we are solely responsible for our choices, and we have to accept the consequences of every deed, word, and thought throughout our lifetime.
— Elisabeth Kubler-Ross

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number one-hundred-eighty of Operation Achieve Anything. My back pain is continuing to evolve as each corrective measure seems to fix one issue only to cause a new issue to arise. It all started with a bulk of the pain relief stemming from switching from marijuana vape pens back to smoking the actual flower. I think this is because I usually buy the cheap vape juice that helps me sleep but never did all that much for any pain.

This switch seemed to the spreading pains to where I only felt the source. Next, I bought a new chair with more of an ergonomic design. It’s a nice chair that sits much higher than my last chair which is nice because I am tall, but at the same time, my desk is still the same height, so I have to hunch over when I type.

Fortunately, I suffer from lower back pain, so the hunching over did seem to add to the pain, but I was starting to feel muscle pains from earlier in the week when my stomach and legs were constantly tense to help me cope with the pain, and I don’t think the hunching helped. To cope with this, I bought a stand for my monitor to raise it to a height that would force me to sit up straight to get a better view. I also bought a riser for my keyboard, but it feels awkward typing with it, so I need to but a few more items in order to get it to work.

The first thing I need is pads for my elbows raise my elbows to be in line with the higher keyboard. I should be getting these over the weekend, and I’ll be sure to let you know how they work. I also bought wrist pads for my keyboard and mouse as well as a padded footrest for under my desk that I’ve now been using for about an hour, and it’s amazing how much it’s added to my level of comfort.

Now that I’m sitting straighter in the chair with all of the comfort building accouterments, the muscle soreness is gone but now the nerve pain in returning, only now it’s a little more subtle. Tonight I’m going to try shocking the hell out of my back with an IcyHot contraption I bought that supposed to ease back pain. I’ll let you know how that goes but either way I think I’m on the right track to healing.

This intro sort of taps into today's assignment where I was supposed to list all of the choices that I’ve made throughout the week which is when a bulk of these purchases were made. I had to choose whether I wanted to make these changes to my workspace or attempt to ride out the pain without any change at all. Though I feel my back would eventually get better, just like it has multiple times in the past, I’m hoping that this decision to change thing up will help to delay the pain from returning once it’s finally gone.

Other than that, most of the choices that I’ve made throughout the week have been things like, when to get out of bed, or what time I want to eat, or what podcast I should listen to. As a shut-in who works from home, most of my decisions are no longer all the crucial because, for the most part, the outcome affects me and me alone. I’m sure if I was being nitpicky, I could dig deeper into more choices, like why I chose one item over another or the decision to spend instead of saving, but I just don’t feel all that inspired by this assignment at this time. Again, it’s because this lesson is more self-help based and not really helping me to achieve my goal.

Today’s assignment is just as uninspiring since it’s still focused on the concept of choice which the Achieve Anything… the book has been hung up on all week. Once again, I didn’t really mind the first couple lessons based on this subject but as always, the longer a theme runs, the more it feels like repetitive filler that forces me to be repetitive as well.

Oh well, it is what it is, and I chose to continue until I’ve completed the book but that doesn’t mean that I have to be enthusiastic throughout the entire process. As always, I’ll delve more into the task for today when I check in with tomorrow’s update. Until then, it’s now time for me to wrap this thing up with my usual sign by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
