Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Four, Dateline 7-23-2018

There are no foolish questions, and no man becomes a fool until he has stopped asking questions.
— Charles Proteus Steinmetz

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-four of Operation Achieve Anything. Here we go with another Monday where, once again, my sciatica didn’t allow me to thoroughly enjoy my time off from the day job. I did manage to get caught up on a lot of the optional work that I put off during the phase of my pain where I was bedridden, so I at least have some sense of accomplishment, but other than that, I spent that last couple of days just trying to sleep in hopes that I’d heal.

I don’t know what I would’ve rather done instead, if anything, I probably would’ve just done more sitting, only I’d have been in enough comfort that I could’ve done more work on the blog. The new trend is that I wake up feeling absolutely terrible, then I walk around for a bit as I gather my morning drink and breakfast before heading to my desk. When I sit, I’m surprised that things don’t hurt as much as I expected, if anything, I feel like the pain is almost over.

After about an hour, the pain starts to creep in again, only it’s subtle enough that I stupidly think that it will eventually just go away. After another hour passes, the pain is still bearable, but it’s now a constant thing. The next hour leads to numbness to where I can’t tell one way or another as to whether or not there’s been any change, but by hour four, I feel like I’ve ruined any progress because I’m in so much pain. This is when I give in to doing nothing but laying around.

Though this is an annoying cycle, I do feel like I’m getting better with each passing day. I really can’t wait until I get to the point where I can walk to the store again. This would have really helped me to accomplish yesterday’s assignment where I was supposed to venture out to find a bookstore and find a new book filled with fact. Well, by that I mean a but that’s actually educational and not just to entertain.

As I said in yesterday’s post on the subject, without a car and being unable to walk, I knew that this was a task that wasn’t going to happen. Then again, the bookstore was the books example of a thing that I could do to get you learning something new. I opted instead to sign up for a few more free classes from Udemy.com which has a bunch of free and cheap courses that I find to be really fun. I also find this to be an easier way for me to actually learn since it keeps me interacting with the information, as opposed to my dyslexic head taking a lifetime to get through a book that would take an average reader a day to get through.

I know, it’s weird how a person who can barely read is so obsessed with the writing process, but here we are. It’s not that I can’t read, I’m just really slow, making it hard to focus long enough for it to be an entertaining process. This adds to my imposter’s syndrome where I will always feel like a hack because of my limited knowledge of other authors, and don’t even consume the product that I’m asking my audience to partake. I mean, how can I invite anyone to read my book when it’s the last thing that I’d like to do. I try though, especially when it comes to my peers who I’ve always offer feedback to, even though I’m often ignored.

Today’s assignment is all about how curiosity is another key to achieving goals because if your not all that curious, chances are, you may be less driven to learn. As for the actual assignment, I’m supposed to think of historical figures throughout time and share a few people I admire who had curiosity as the driving force behind their successful lives.

I’m not even sure who these people are at this time it might be interesting to see how I’ll answer this in tomorrow’s post. Until then, it’s time for me to wrap this thing up so I can go finish the day job before I go attempt to get more rest. With that, it’s now time for me to sign off by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
