Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Forty-Two, Dateline 8-30-2018

We first make our habits, and then our habits make us.
— John Dryden

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-forty-two of Operation Achieve Anything. Today’s number seven of my impromptu vacation from my day jobs task assigning system being down all fricking week. Though I’m enjoying the time off, I really wish my work was honest enough to say that they met their client’s quota for the month so there will be no more work until the first instead of treating it like it’s a system error.

At least that’s what really seems is going on considering the “system went down” toward the end of last week as well, only to have things run smoothly from day one of this month until now. If they were open about this in the first place, I would have spent all week being more proactive with my planning instead of waiting each day for the official email to let us know that the system would not be back up. Instead, I spent this week wasting a lot of time.

This sort of plays into yesterday’s assignment where I was supposed to start thinking about how I can be more proactive. There was no actual task so I figured I’d share how my works dishonesty made it impossible for me to be proactive with my plans. To cope with this, I’m going to be proactive with my next paycheck and start to invest in other ways to earn an income.

Over the past couple of months, I’ve been making a little money from adding ads to this site, nowhere near enough to buy some lunch let alone enough to quit this gig, but it has provided evidence that money is out there to earn. At first, I was planning on putting all of my eggs in this Wicker Breaker basket until I can figure it out, but now that I have more overall experience, I want to try to branch out and build a site specifically to make money and not just to share the results of my passion projects.

I’ll go more into this goal once my paycheck comes in and I actually get the ball rolling, but the general idea is to take what I’ve learned about blogging on this site to use on this money-making experiment to then use the techniques that actually work to try to make more money from this blog. This would allow me to use a trial and error approach without worrying about any errors pushing people away from the site that I actually love.

If I were able to pull this off, the income that I’d earn would allow me to be more proactive in every area of my life to where I could then focus on making more than a minimum wage income. I know I’ve been saying this for years now, but I’ve also been getting closer and closer to success with every passing day. Up until this post, the plan was to keep moving forward with the day job until I got fired to then try this money-making attempt while I had the extra time. Now, I’m going to fulfill yesterday’s assignment by being proactive and starting this plan as soon as I can.

As for today’s assignment, I’m supposed to be proactive again, only this time to develop a new daily habit to implement by the end of the day. I already know what this habit will be because I’ve been putting it off since the start of the summer’s heat. Thankfully, it’s starting to cool off a bit making this assignment to land with perfect timing.

Of course, you’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s update to learn what this (revisited) new habit is. Until then, it’s now time for me to wrap this thing up as usual by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
