Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Sixty-Four, Dateline 9-21-2018

We all have ability. The difference is how we use it.
— Stevie Wonder

Good afternoon crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-sixty-four of Operation Achieve Anything. I often feel that I spend too much time on here talking about how I need to take it easy for a little bit. I just realized that this is because I beat myself up on a weekly basis for wanting to actually take time off during the weekend, especially ever since I started to work this five day a week part time job instead of just randomly working whenever a gig became available.

Part of the problem is that I made an unspoken deal with myself where I swore that I wouldn’t waste any of my free time until I figured out a way to justify my existence until I could figure out how to turn my hobby into something that actually pays. The other part of the problem is that, other than the paid gig, I actually really enjoy what I do so even when I actively attempt to take time off, I’ll still end up working, just at a more relaxed pace.

This actually plays into yesterdays task where the theme of the lesson was ability minus ambition equals stagnation. As I said in my last post, this kind of annoys me because with the Achieve Anything… book being close to three-quarters done I feel it’s insane that there is still so much focus on motivational cliches about building up the momentum to start going. By this point, I would expect a book would be done with the self-help nonsense, and more focused on the actual goal that it claims it will help me achieve.

I know, I know, just like the constant complaining about needing a break, my disappointment in the books approach is another reoccurring theme but both are thoughts that do constantly run around in my head, and these thoughts are what I’m here to share, so here we are. For today’s assignment, I’m supposed to list all of my abilities and then note ideas about how to capitalize on these interests.

This sounds like an assignment that could potentially shift the Achieve Anything… book’s focus off of me and onto the actual goals. I doubt it though and am willing to bet that within the next couple of lesson we’ll be right back into more generic self-help. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. Until then, it’s now time to wrap this post up as usual by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
