Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Sixty-Five, Dateline 9-22-2018

I’ve had smarter people around me all my life, but I haven’t run into one yet that can outwork me. And if they can’t outwork you, then smarts aren’t going to do them much good. That’s just the way it is. And if you believe that and live by it, you’d be surprised at how much fun you can have.
— Woody Hayes

Good afternoon crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-sixty-five of Operation Achieve Anything.  I don’t know for sure, but I think that the Achieve Anything… book’s current theme of underused ambition and lack of genuine effort has me feeling the need to defend the use of my time. It kind of seems that the book is saying that unsuccessful people are only failures because their not being honest with just how much they try. I know that the book never blatantly says that this is always the case, but even putting it out there makes it hard not to believe that this is how my efforts are seen by the world.

The fact that I want to turn a fun hobby into a career makes it hard not to think that my efforts aren’t seen as coming from some slacker who is just goofing around. No one sees the hours of extra effort to try to clear up the jumbled output from this dyslexic head only to still put out flawed content to then repeat the process again in order to hone my craft. No one sees the sleepless nights where I work until the sun rises in order to meet a self-appointed deadline, that if missed, no one would notice or care. No one feels the constant frustration of just being a tiny bit off from living the perfect life.

Yesterday, I was supposed to make a list of my abilities to then come up with a strategy of how to use these skills. Rather than make the list and come up with this strategy, I decided I’d rather just jump right in and put these abilities to use by starting my next project that will be focused on my effort to become my own boss. The new project is called AbodeBoss.com: One Shut-Ins Effort To Master His Domain From The Comfort Of His Own Home.

This page will focus on sharing my effort to create content that actually generates a profit and not just a page that is fun. The idea would be that TheWickerBreaker.com would provide an outlet for my creative side while I would use AbodeBoss.com to focus on fulfilling my financial needs. I plan to do this by testing online classes, books, and other training materials that claim to have the blueprint for escaping a nine-to-five existence. I’m not talking anything that sounds like a get rich scheme, I’ll be looking for material that seems legitimate that also matches my skill set.

For example, the first class that I plan to take is from Udemy.com called How I Build A Profitable Website In 1 Day. Granted, this does sound a bit of a too good to be true premise, especially considering that one person claimed they made six figures within the first three months, but now that my web building skills are closer to intermediate, I want to give this a shot to see if any of the advice could actually work. I have no expectations to make the hundred grand like the person in the review, but if I could bring in a few bucks a month, this would be a success to me.

The reason that I’d see this as a win is that I would then take the successful bits of advice to implement throughout the network of content that I plan to create. I will also take classes in marketing optimization and graphic design to again share my testing of the waters before executing my finding into my master plan to break free from my current all eggs in one basket approach to making it. Ultimately, the AbodeBoss.com page would not just be a site for people to read my thoughts on these classes and products but I’ll also include affiliate links to earn a few bucks off of anyone who signs up for a course based on my findings.

So, not only would I be taking advantage of my current set of abilities, but I’ll also be adding more to the list of new things that I can do. This is why I feel my efforts from last night do actually fulfill the needs of yesterday’s assignment. As far as today goes, I’m now supposed to continue to build my self-esteem toward my efforts, with the book’s lesson being, as long as you work extra hard you don’t have to be talented or smart to be successful, going against the classic claims of quality over quantity.

I don’t know how I feel about this outlook, so we’ll both have to wait for tomorrow’s update to see what I manage to come up with. Until then, it’s now time to wrap this one up as usual by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
