Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Seventy-One, Dateline 9-28-2018

There is a hard law. When an injury is done to us we never recover until we forgive.
— Alan Paton

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-seventy-one of Operation Achieve Anything. It’s Friday, I’m burnt out from the week and uninspired by yesterdays assignment, so I’m going to make this a quick update so I can attempt to get an early start to my weekend. With that, instead of the usual build-up, I’m just going to jump right in and start to share how I fulfilled yesterday’s task to note all the new things I learned throughout the day. Again, for those who didn’t read yesterday’s post, the reason I feel uninspired by the task is that it’s an exact duplicate of a task from a couple months ago and this book is getting even more repetitive the closer it gets to the end.

Speaking of yesterday’s post, the first thing I learned is that my paycheck for this month is going to be bad but not as bad as I feared while complaining about my job. My work had the nerve to send me an email warning me that I am not on track to meeting my contracted weekly hours after an entire week of their system being down. This got me to look at my time card and realize that I made up a lot of time earlier in the month when I was maxing out the hours I could work in a day. This extra time made up for the outages throughout the first three-quarters of the month, so I’ll only be short from the hours missed this week. This is a major relief because I was starting to stress over how I would be able to get by while still making progress and not just scraping by.

The second thing that I learned was that I really like the new Netflix show called Maniac starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill. From what I’ve seen so far, this really seems like the type of show that I would write in my fiction work, so it makes me more hopeful that there is an audience out. It’s also a really fun show because while watching it high, the similarity in its style to mine can make it feel like the show is sending messages to me. Not in a schizophrenic, delusional way like I experienced once while hallucinating on salvia, but in a way that feels like I’m getting a message from a kindred soul of whoever created the show.

I may have also picked up a few other facts from the podcasts I listened to throughout the day, but those two were my big takeaways. I know neither example is what the book is really looking for but I’d still say the task is fulfilled. Especially when you consider that I have an upcoming challenge that will be all about educating myself, which clearly shows that I’m on the same page with the message being promoted by the lesson that you’re never too old to stop learning new things.

As for today’s assignment, I’m now supposed to start to focus on forgiveness and to start the book wants me to list all of the times in my life where I’ve felt injured by others and am still hanging on to the emotions that came with being wronged. It seems like this is going to build up to where I have to confront these people to forgive them but for now, the task only asks for information about each incident and how they made me feel.

I’m not sure how I feel about airing this type of laundry, in this type of way, where I’m intentionally digging into an issue rather than it just coming naturally as I write, but I’m sure that I’ll come up with something. Of course, you’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s post to see what I manage to come up with. Until then, it’s now time for me to wrap this one up as usual by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
