The Resolution: I think I need to start exploring other places on this planet. At this point, I'm too poor to venture out to another country. So the plan is to start with baby steps and visit a state I've never been to.

I've been to all the states highlighted in green on the map above. Now it's just a matter of figuring out which white state I want to turn green and how I plan to make that happen

The front runners are Alaska, Maine, and South Carolina.

I must have been going through a delusional phase of confidence when I set this resolution. I thought for sure I had a chance to win a writing residency through AmTrak and get a free train trip to whichever state I decided on visiting.

Well, I didn't win, nor did I make any backup plan to save up for a vacation. My interest in travel dies a bit when I decided to move back to San Diego. Part of me wanted to visit a new state to see I would be interested in moving there instead of back home.

I'm still not sure where I want to end up, but I think I will be here for a while.

Once I do get back to an exploratory frame of mind I may just visit one of these states and if I do, I'll be sure to let you know.
