Resolution #98: Whiten My Teeth With Lasers!!!

Date: 4-8-2014

Due Date: 4-8-2015

Resolution: Actually it's just an LED light :( It still seems kind of magical though!

Who doesn't want whiter teeth? I could use expensive whitening strips that I'm pretty confident do work, but where's the foolish challenge in that? Instead, I will be giving the Whitelight a shot. After all, "It whitens teeth using the power of light!"

As always, I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Result #98: I Successfully Whitened My Teeth At Home Using Lasers!!!

Update #1: The Warm Up Whitening…

Date: 6-22-2014

I ordered the Bright White light teeth whitening system about two weeks ago and finally got around to testing it out.

First off I was pretty impressed by my standing on the color chart as I posed for the before picture. I must have scrubbed off all the cigarette and wine stains since quitting smoking and limiting my drinking.

Before:

I read the instructions and molded the mouth trays. They tell you to use just a little of the Carbamide Peroxide and to make sure that it only gets on your teeth because this stuff, not may but, will irritate the gums, the documentation warned.

They're not kidding.

I don't know how they expect you to control what this trapped fluid comes in contact with. I found it impossible to avoid getting this stuff all over my mouth. Maybe next time I won't brush my teeth directly before applying the treatment. I'm sure the mini cuts caused by the toothbrush didn't help in any way.

My mouth was on fire for the first five minutes. Then I either got used to it or the pain just started to naturally subside.

Next time I'm going to have to make sure to get pictures of this next step but due to poor planning, I missed out.

I pulled out the trays and my entire mouth was bleached white. Though the pain was subsiding it was still there so I rushed to the next step which was to apply the remineralizing gel which caused all the insanity to tone down and lead to the failed photo op.

After:

It's hard to tell from the photos but it did make a difference. They advise against using this product on a daily basis, so stay tuned for random updates as I work through the rest of the supplies whenever I feel the need to make my teeth look all fancy.

Update #2: Getting Whiter... My Teeth That Is…

Date: 6-29-2014

So I decided to add teeth whitening to my Sunday cleaning and maintenance regiment.

Before:

Apparently, I was correct about the folly of brushing my teeth moments before the whitening process. Though the Carbamide Peroxide continued to sting my gums, it wasn't anywhere as intolerable as the chemical burning felt last week.

After:

I've always been pretty content with the whiteness of my teeth but I have to say it is pretty cool to see that this product is actually working, unlike most of the As Seen On TV I've experimented with so far.

Update #3: I Think I've Got This Whole Whitening Thing Down!!!

Date: 7-6-2014

During my first whitening procedure I think I used too much of the Carbamide Peroxide gel. It got on my gums and burned like hell.

During week two's whitening, I don't think I used enough gel. fearing the fire of its burn.

This week I think I did it just right!

Update #4: My Fourth And Final Laser Teeth Whitening Treatment…

Date: 7-13-2014

Today I used up the last of my supply of Carbamide Peroxide from my at-home Light White tooth whitening system.

Stay tuned for tomorrow when I will give my final recap.

Until then, here are the results.

Update #5: The Conclusion…

Date: 7-14-2014

Yesterday I completed my fourth and final treatment using the White Light teeth whitening system and I have to say I'm glad to be done with it.

First off, the syringes filled with the active ingredients would stick every time. You're only supposed to squeeze a little dab of the whitening gel into the mouthpieces so that the gel only comes in contact with your teeth. The gel is not supposed to make contact with your gums at all.

Inevitably every time I went to start the process, I would try to pump out just a dab of gel, the syringe would then stick causing me to add a little more pressure to the plunger, then blarg, a big goop of gel would dump out.

I'd try to clean up the excess gel but due to the nature of mouthpieces, the gel would spread the moment I set them in my mouth.

The Carbamide Peroxide is somewhat tolerable on the front part of the gums but if it manages to get up to the roof of your mouth it hurts like hell.

One of the other problems that I had with this product is that I have sinus problems so not only was it awkward having these two mouthpieces and this blue light in my mouth, I could barely breathe during the process.

Finally, even though having super white teeth is pretty cool the effect didn't seem to last more than a couple of days.

Who knows? There may have been a gradual change and my teeth may actually be a bit whiter than they were at the start of this venture but either way, I don't think the pain and overall discomfort was worth it.

Whether or not the product worked to my satisfaction, I made it through all the treatments meaning this experiment is a success!!!
