Result #218: Unfortunately, my only experience with acupuncture is still a crazy night of self-acupuncture with friends that I wish I still had photos of.

#218: Give acupuncture a shot to see if it will help my sinuses.

Due Date: 8-6-2015

Resolution: I've always had a skeptical interest in alternative medicine but have never really given it a try.

Years ago I bought a bunch of acupuncture needles from an a couple friends and I had a self-acupuncture party.

So I've experienced what it feels like o be stuck with an acupuncture needle but I don't think I've experienced any of the benefits.

Some time within the year I'll head in to a legitimate acupuncture facility to see if they can do something about my sinuses that have been giving me problems lately.

Update #1: The Conclusion.

Date: 8-6-2015

The funny thing is, I actually have an appointment with an acupuncturist on Monday. The only this is, I don't think there's going to be any acupuncture.

I just finished another writing gig and have a little extra money. Not much but enough to get a California Medical Marijuana Card. Say what you will about the drug but it has really benefited my life over the past couple years.

I had a major back problem that it seemed to magically cure, it's made me cut back on my drinking to the point where I'm no longer all that interested, and most importantly it's helped me develop a consistent sleep pattern, which helps me regulate manic phases where I can end up staying up for days driving myself crazy.

I haven't had regular access since leaving Seattle and I think that may have something to do with my moodiness.

So I'm getting a card and apparently acupuncturist are qualified to diagnose symptoms and provide a referral. Unfortunately I didn't make enough money to be able to afford more than the consultation, but hopefully I will once I find my next project.

I am going to try acupuncture some day and when I do, I'll let you know how things turn out.
