The Resolution: Yesterday I resolved to visit a state that I've never been to before. I'm still not sure where I want to go but I think I may have figured how I want to get there.

Last I heard that Amtrak is now offering a Residency for Writers.

I'm going to give it a shot!!!

When I first heard about this Amtrak Residency I had it in my mind that this was an ongoing benefit to writes. I thought all a writer had to do was pitch an idea that could be written on the train and if they liked it they'd give you a ticket, open to everyone, all the time.

Of course, it doesn't work that way. It's so dumb that I thought it would work any way other than an annual competition that I'm not fully sure why I decided to share my wrongful thinking. It's not even an excuse for why I failed.

In fact, I successfully applied for the residency but failed to get picked as a winner.

Maybe next time?
