Resolution #238: Try The Jerky Version Of Every Member Of The Animal Kingdom That's Available!!!
/Date: 8-26-2014
Due Date: 8-26-2015
Resolution: I'm a pretty big fan of jerky. I wouldn't say that I love it to the point where I want to learn to make it on my own. I do like it enough to want to sample the various flavors from various animals.
So, I'm pretty much going to create my own Jerky of the month club. At least once a month for a year, I'll sample jerky made of a different animal and share my findings.
Result #238: I Started Strong, But Only Managed To Pull Off Eating One Exotic Jerky… But This Will Change… As Soon As I Can Afford To Eat More!!!
Update #1: Jerky #1 - Spiced Ahi Tuna…
Date: 8-29-2014
This is the jerky that inspired this resolution.
I was just walking down the aisle when I this Ahi Tuna Jerky out of the corner of my eye. I not only wanted to try this "exotic" jerky but I wanted to try every exotic jerky out there.
I won't get to every flavor but I will get to at least 12.
And now for the review.
I pointed this out in the resolution. I think I'm a bigger fan of jerky in concept more than it's reality. Like ground meats all jerkies kind of taste the same. The only real difference is the flavor of the sauce.
The sauce used for this Spicy Ahi Tuna was amazing. The jerky side of my experience was that I was eating good jerky. I could kind of taste the fish but for the most part, it tastes like good beef jerky. If I wasn't told this was fish, I'd just assume this flavor came from the sauce.
Either way, I would buy this jerky again.
I give it five out of five Bigfoots.
Update #2: The Conclusion…
Date: 8-26-2015
I probably could have pulled this resolution off on time if I sample various types of meat sticks as pictured above. These are pretty cheap and easy to find. The problem is, I've found that the meat sticks all sort of taste the same with a hint of taste from the featured creature.
I was looking for exotic jerky, which, thanks to the internet, is easy to find but is usually a bit expensive and as you know I ended up not being able to afford a lot of these challenges.
I think the other problem is that I have so many resolutions that it was hard to keep up with any of the "of the month" base tasks. I found that I would either go months where I either couldn't afford the needed materials or just plain forgot about some of the tasks at hand.
For redemption, I'm going to wait until I can afford to buy all 11 of the missed jerkies at once and report on my findings.
Talk to you then.
