SNL: S15E01... HOST: BRUCE WILLIS... DATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 1989

SNL: S15E01... HOST: BRUCE WILLIS... DATE: SEPTEMBER 30, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with A Message From the White House with Dana as Bush for an update on what he did on vacation to decompress from his first hundred days as president. He then went on to update us on a recent hurricane relief project before sharing his next step in the war on drugs which included his kids stepping in with almost X-Men like powers before finally announcing, "Live from New York..."
  2. Bruce Willis then officially opened the show by with a monolog about how he used to work for the show as a caterer back when he was a struggling actor. He then went on play the harmonica and with the band after claiming it was his only demand to return to the show because he was still a bit bitter about being fired back in his catering day.
  3. We then got a fake ad for thirtysomething Cereal that parodied the dry tone and melodramatic issues from the show that inspired this morning meal.
  4. We then went to an airplane sketch where Bruce Willis is joking as a way to flirt with Victoria Jackson who is his seat neighbor. Terrorists then took over the plane threatening to kill anyone who disobeys their orders. Being Mr. Funnyman, Bruce Willis can't resist delivering a one-liner that gets Victoria Jackson killed and gets warned that one more joke will get them to kill again which isn't enough to stop the jokes from flying out of his mouth. Passenger after passenger gets killed until the terrorist realize they created a situation that they can get out of so, following one final joke, the main terrorist blows up the plane.
  5. Neil Young then took to the stage to perform Rockin' in the Free World.
  6. Sprockets then returned for another segment with Dieter and his strange German dissection of comedy where this week he has on "Jimmy Stewart" as his guest and the two talk about the dark nihilistic points of Stewart's life that influenced the book of light-hearted poems he was on the show to promote. After drinking some hooch to get in the right mood to read some of his work, Steward almost gets into a fight with Dieter's monkey.
  7.  This was followed by a Donahue Promo where the white-haired host pitches an upcoming show for Women Who Name Their Breast.
  8. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Imelda Marcos checked in via satellite once again to talk about her life in Hawaii following the death of her husband. A. Whitney Brown also dropped in for another brilliant Big Picture segment about how free speech includes the right to burn the American flag even if it is something that he wouldn't recommend or do himself.
  9. Home Improvement With The Anal-Retentive Carpenter was another installment of the Anal-Retentive series. This time, as the title suggests, our anal-retentive host is giving home improvement lesson with the main project being a window box. As always, he ends up getting too hung up in the cleaning process following step one to ever get to any significant details of the task at hand.
  10. Wayne's World also returned for another installment, this time the basement dwelling cable access hosts setup that the show is being recorded while their parents are upstairs having a party and that they hope they don't get interrupted. Their guest was played by Bruce Willis who plays the coolest guy in school who looks pretty tough but has zero personality. They ask their guest the new cool word for the year and get super excited to learn that it's sphincter. They then go on and attempt to prank call the partying parents upstairs where Bruce Willis claims to be Wayne's teacher Mr. Sphincter and needs to talk to her son. This leads Wayne's mom to come downstairs and say sphincter on live TV.
  11. Neil Young then returned to the stage to perform Needle And The Damage Done, as well as the song No More, back to back.
  12. We then got a fake ad for a new album called Bruce Willis: The Man And His Music with Bruce Willis singing made up commercial jiggles to the tune of his Seagram's Wine Cooler ad tune.
  13. This was followed by another Donahue Promo where this time the topic of the white-haired host show being advertised is When Your Shoelace Gets Caught Inside Your Shoe.
  14. Johnny's Replacement is another sketch that I couldn't find anywhere on the internet but while looking for it I found a site that notes it was actually replaced in reruns by the Airplane Hijacker sketch that was shot during dress rehearsal that didn't actually air the original night of this episode.
  15. Finally, Bruce Willis closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E02... HOST: RICK MORANIS... DATE: OCTOBER 7, 1989

SNL: S15E02... HOST: RICK MORANIS... DATE: OCTOBER 7, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with Jackie Mason's Press Conference with Rick Moranis playing the comedian to apologize for the nasty things that he's been saying aboutDavid Dinkins who was the mayor at the time. He then goes on to apologize to the many other people he has offended throughout his time doing stand-up as a career. He finished the conference by sharing his choice for mayor followed by the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Rick Moranis then officially opened the show by playing guitar with the band for a bit before also giving the sax a shot, which he then followed up by taking over the main camera man's job. After hopping off the camera seat he then dances his way backstage where he continues to try his hand at various crew members task and even delivers a baby finishing on stage where he simply throws to the opening sketch.
  3. The Big Bitch Bull Dyke Bust Out of '89 was a sketch that took place in a women's prison where both Zsa Zsa Gabor and Leona Helmsley are being held due to their recent crimes. At first, Zsa Zsa is being attacked by the other inmates until Leona steps in and beats the leader to death. At this point, the sketch title appears on the screen with an announcer introducing the TV special. We then went to a later scene with Zsa Zsa and Leona digging a tunnel when they are joined by Jim Bakker as the two escape paths meet. Eventually, they all manage to escape thanks to Tammy Fay and her getaway car. While on the lam, the group ends up on a crime spree where they rob and murder a gas station cashier and thanks to in-car conversations we learn that they did way more. Toward the end, we find out that Jim Bakker has been stealing from the booty and the confrontation causes them to drive off a cliff, ending the long convoluted story that might have been fun when the references were fresh.
  4. Honey, I Shrunk Hans And Franz was, as the title suggests, a parody of Honey, I Shrunk The Kids where the muscle-bound brothers continue to boast about their size and strength even though they can fit in one's fist.
  5. Rickie Lee Jones then took to the stage to perform Satellites.
  6. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Mr. Subliminal returned to the news for a segment on his views on the Panama situation from the time, mainly using his subliminal speak to send messages to Manuel Noriega that he should quit his reign as dictator. Phil Hartman also started a new segment called George Steinbrenner: Health Watch where he keeps tabs on the unhealthy coach. Finally, Jon Lovitz introduced his new annoy Frenchman character named Frenchie who simply shares his obnoxious views while speaking with a stereotypical accent.
  7. Merv Griffin's Casino Show was a parody of Merv's career as a lounge performer in Atlantic City where he provides all the lounges services from waiting table to retrieving cars while doing a really lame act. I know who Merv is because he developed so many game show but I don't know him well enough as a performer to understand some of the audience's laughs. It is interesting that Trump makes an appearance doing his classic move of selling a piece of property at a high price only to buy it back cheaper after it fails, which was the case with this Merv Griffin casino and why he is wearing so many hats while trying to do his act.
  8. Wild Horse was a sketch that took place at a ranch where Phil Hartman a bad ass who thinks he can break a wild horse. At first, this seems like something that's not new to him but when he jumps on its back he gets thrown to the floor almost instantly. Rick Moranis then stepped in to give it a shot only to experience the same results. Person after person tries only to be thrown through the air as well. Finally, everyone decides to give up then watch as a male horse approaches and attempts to mate with the wild beast and he too is thrown through the air.
  9. Rickie Lee Jones then returned to the stage to perform Ghetto Of My Mind.
  10. We then went to a press conference where Phil Hartman played the new MLB Commissioner who shares his New Baseball Rules which mainly involved going overboard in memorializing the late commissioner who had just passed landing Phil Hartman in his new role as rule maker.
  11. We then went to a bar where Nora Dunn and Jank Hook are hanging when the notice Rick Moranis drinking alone and offer to buy him a drink. They keep talking about how cute he is and at first, it sounds like he may be a potential date but when Victoria Jackson steps in and the two girls share their find the three women's tones shift to where the cute talk sound like they are talking to a baby which doesn't go over well because the girls take it to the extreme.
  12. Word Busters was a game show sketch hosted by Phil Hartman where two teams of two play a word guessing game like Outburst with one person guessing while the other gives clues without using words with most categories being pain-related. For the most part, the nonspeaking person is very pestering, poking and prodding to get a reaction/guess in a way that, more often than not, turns out to actually work.
  13. Finally, Rick Moranis closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E03... HOST: KATHLEEN TURNER... DATE: OCTOBER 21, 1989

SNL: S15E03... HOST: KATHLEEN TURNER... DATE: OCTOBER 21, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a fake TV special called The Miracle Of Fatima '89 the follow-up miracle to the Fatima prophecies of 1917. In this new miracle, Kathleen Turner sees an American flag that tells her it is the only true flag and that all other flags are false flag while giving warning to those who burn it, listing the fines and punishments for breaking this rule. We then got to meet this prophetic flag as it shares more flag rules and announces, "Live from New York..."
  2. Kathleen Turner then officially opened the show with a monolog where Victoria Jackson provides Turner's voice as if that were how she actually sounded and that her regular "husky sexy voice" that she only put on to get roles. She then switched back and forth between her real voice and the Victoria sound to deliver lines from her classic roles before throwing to the first sketch.
  3. Plug Away then returned with Jon Lovitz as Harvey Fierstein who is looking for love just like every other installment. In installment is my favorite one that I still quote often to this day because this is the one where he started to think about reincarnation which led to the question, "If you were to die and come back as an animal, would you be attracted to a gay bee?" Of course, he was the gay be in this hypothetical question. Again, I don't think I knew who Harvey Fierstein was until much later on when I saw him in Mrs. Doubtfire but this character was always funny to me for some reason even if it is extremely repetitive every week that it's on.
  4. Die Squaren Ost Berliner was a parody of an East German version of Hollywood Squares where most of the squares are empty because the celebrities who are supposed to occupy them have defected but the show must go on so it does. The only problem is that with the configuration of the celebrities that are left, it's impossible to connect three in a row. To make things extra fun Billy Joel plays the celeb in the bottom right square.
  5. We then got a fake commercial that interrupted the prior sketch that is also East Germany based and is for Donheiser which is a parody of their version of Donahue.
  6. Billy Joel then took to the stage to perform We Didn't Start The Fire.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Al Franken got a segment as his one-man mobile unit character who is reporting from outside of a crack house with a promised piece about the war on drugs only he gets robbed by the residents before he can get to the story. Phil Hartman also dropped in for another installment of the George Steinbrenner: Health Watch segment that was introduced last week, with sad news that he's doing just fine. A. Whitney Brown then finished the news with another Big Picture segment about the big earthquake that just hit San Francisco.
  8. Egg Man was a melodramatic sketch where Kathleen Turner seeks advice from Phil Hartman who is literally an egg/live in psychiatrist. She is so outraged by the issues of the day that it makes Egg Man super nervous, especially after one of her outburst ended with her throwing the tiny shrink at a pillow. The biggest problem that Kathleen is dealing with is he concerns for her punk rock son who storms into the room to find her little friend and ends up throwing him against the wall before stealing the money he needed to buy tickets to a punk rock show.
  9. We then get a fake self-help ad for Lank Thompson's "I'm A Handsome Man" with Mike Myers playing the titular host who shows how amazing life could be by simply being handsome like him even though he's got a very annoying fake personality and cheese smile.
  10. This was followed by a fake phone sex line 555-TOON where Kathleen Turner provided the voice of Jessica Rabbit with a pitch to get perverts to call.
  11. We then got introduced to Jan Hooks as Jane Pauley who was putting on makeup in her dressing room while giving us a voice-over introduction to her career in news as if this were a start to a movie. After a while, a producer steps in to let Jane know that she has a visitor and we learn the sketch is called All About Deborah Norville, a parody of the movie All About Eve where "Deborah" attempts to hijack "Janes" life only to get stuck in the dressing room with Gene Shalit.
  12. Billy Joel then returned to the stage to perform Downeaster Alexa.
  13. We then joined Kathleen Turner and Kevin Nealon who are out on an Average Blind Date. The two start out there conversation by pointing out their surprised they are to be on a blind date with someone who's normal. At first, this talk of averageness seems like a bunch of backhanded compliment but it turns out the two are actually turned on by the fact that they're both so boring and bland.
  14. America Loves Maxwell House was a fake ad for the coffee where Nora Dunn got to speak her mind before getting fired as their pitchwoman. Meanwhile, the owner, played by Jon Lovitz, is introduced in a terrible fat suit do the hula in Hawaii with a couple old ladies and one native for some reason that I didn't really get.
  15. Finally, Kathleen Turner closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S15E04... HOST: JAMES WOODS... DATE: OCTOBER 28, 1989

SNL: S15E04... HOST: JAMES WOODS... DATE: OCTOBER 28, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a parody of The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson where Dana Carvey played the late-night host with Victoria Jackson as herself, who does a quick poem about the intestines finishing her interview segment. "Nancy Reagan" then has a seat as the second just having been bumped the night before. She goes on to promote her book called My Turn which was about her life in the White House. This is another case where the parody of an interview is too close to sounding real to pick out the funny parts if they were even there. As always, this being the opening sketch, it ended with "Nancy Reagan's" announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. James Woods then officially opened the show with a monolog about being excited to host the Halloween show and how he's looking forward to playing someone other than the bad guy in a film. As he speaks we break away to a home viewer who recognizes James Woods from an earlier crime. This was followed by a cut away to a police station where we see than more that one viewer has made a call to report on the madman of a host for breaking various types of laws, which causes police dispatch to send SWAT to the show to take out this horrible monster.
  3. We then got a fake ad for a new yard tool called the Yard-A-Pult that is a trebuchet that can launch everything from hot BBQ coals to dog poop several yards away so that you don't have to take care of it.
  4. AIDS-Aware Dracula was a sketch where Dracula asks his victims their dating history before attempting to suck their blood because of his fear of AIDS. He finally finds a woman that he deems clean enough to bight only it takes so long that he's killed by the rising sunlight.
  5. This was followed by a parody of Primetime Live where this week they cover abortion and Kirk Cameron's career. At least that's what they announce but instead, they show how that everything is closed highlighting the flaw in their effort to cover live events with a news show that starts at 10:00 at night. For the most part, the joke of the sketch is the effort to prove the show is actually live. They do eventually get to the stories pitched at the beginning of the sketch but these fake interviews seem to be an afterthought because neither adds much to the sketch.
  6. Don Henley then took to the stage to perform The Last Worthless Evening.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Victoria Jackson checked in "via satellite" from Costa Rica to report on a presidential visit to the area. This is mainly a segment that makes fun of white news reporters who go overboard with the Spanish accent when reporting on Central American stories. A. Whitney Brown also dropped in for another Big Picture segment, this one about the President's trip to Japan. Finally, Dana Carvey stopped by as Dennis Miller so that he and the real Dennis can have another Dennis off to see who can say the most Dennis thing that they can.
  8. Sky's The Limit was a sketch that took place at a bar during open mic night with James Woods playing a ventriloquist who simply argues puppet over which one is the dummy as his entire routine that seems to go on forever.
  9. Falling In Love was a short film featuring Victoria Jackson and Jon Lovitz at a fancy '50s Hollywood party where they lip sync a duet of an old-timey song for a sketch that is more cute than funny until the end when they are blown off the balcony because it gets too windy.
  10. Don Henley then returned to the stage to perform The Boys of Summer.
  11. Three Dudes Holistic Automotive was a fake ad for homeopathic auto care by three new age surfer burnouts.
  12. We then got a repeat of the fake ad for the Helmsley Spook House which was a sketch from a couple of seasons ago that marketed a haunted house that was hosted by Leona Helmsley.
  13. This was followed by a Halloween Greetings with Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein performing Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven.
  14. Finally, James Woods closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E05... HOST: CHRIS EVERT... DATE: NOVEMBER 11, 1989

SNL: S15E05... HOST: CHRIS EVERT... DATE: NOVEMBER 11, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with parody coverage of Chris Evert's Wimbledon Loss to Martina Navratilova with the cast and host providing the voices for the Queen and other royals as they give condolences to Evert for her loss before congratulating Navratilova. Apparently, this isn't the meat of the sketch because they then cut from this real footage to a locker room scene where Christ Evert Hulks out and destroys the entire room since she is out of the public's view allowing her to show her true anger. She almost got caught by the queen during her rampage when she enters the room looking for the bathroom but lucky for Chris the Queen is so caught up in her own world that she doesn't notice the mess or hear the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Chris Evert then officially opened the show with a monolog about how tennis and Saturday Night Live actually have a lot in common with a few funny jokes and the delivery of someone who is obviously reading every single line. Following the monolog, there's a quick add-on bit where Chris Evert destroys her dressing room because she didn't get enough laughs.
  3. This was followed by the classic fake ad for Colon Blow which was a spot for a fake cereal with so much fiber you'll never get off the bowl after eating it since it has the same amount of fiber than over 35,000 bowls of the average bran cereal.
  4. We then went "live" to Germany to see a report from Bush At The Berlin Wall where he shares the activities of the people behind him who are celebrating the divide coming down while also taking credit even though Reagan was the president to do most of America's legwork during his second term.
  5. Evert Vs. Navratilova was a sketch that shows the feud between the two tennis stars didn't stay on the court. In the sketch, Evert attempts to transition out of the sport that made her famous only to have Navratilova right on her tail, one-upping her at every new attempt that she makes.
  6. We then got to see Bette Davis' Videotape Will with Jan Hooks as Bette Davis who's on video ranting and raving about all the people she hates to the point where it takes multiple tapes for her to finally sort out her estate by saying her son gets everything and daughter gets absolutely nothing because of the tell-all book that filled her mother with spite.
  7. Eurythmics then took to the stage to perform Angel.
  8. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Jon Lovitz introduced his new Annoying Man character who speaks with a whiney voice and picks at Dennis while he drones on without saying a single clear sentence. Kevin Nealon then dropped in for a segment where he reviewed a selection of adult movies which was mainly a prolonged masturbation joke.
  9. Lothar Of The Hill People then returned for another installment where one about Lothar place a medieval counselor of sorts to the village men who all seem to have issues with women. This time, the sketch isn't just a sausage bitch fest as Chris Evert joins in to inform the group of the little man in the boat (AKA the clitoris.)
  10. Victoria Jackson then took to the stage to perform a song with her ukulele called Draw The Line that explores when a close friendship becomes an affair.
  11. We then met Lyle, The Effeminate Heterosexual, played by Dana Carvey. This is a character who is super flamboyant while being straight to the point where he's even homophobic. In the world of the sketch, this is not a case of a closeted man who just doesn't know that he's gay. No, Lyle's a husband and father who really into women and sport with feminine sensibilities. At least that's the frame of thinking that makes it extra funny to me without coming across as cliche.
  12. Eurythmics then returned to the stage to perform Baby's Gonna Cry.
  13. Chris Evert then started a sketch called Passages by talking into a mirror and quoting a daily affirmation. Her boyfriend then arrives and before the two start to make out she starts to second guess herself. We then went backstage to find Lorne Michaels and Jan Hooks watching the sketch on the monitor. Jan is concerned for Chris because this sketch is advanced enough that a true actress would struggle let alone a tennis player. We then went back to the scene to see the start of a song and dance. While everyone else thinks this sketch is an unfair train wreck, Lorne is highly entertained by watching the host working outside of her comfort zone.
  14. The Nude House of Wacky People was a bit of a racist sketch with Mike Myers doing a Charlie Chan accent as the new head of Sony Pictures who's trying to reassure the American viewing audience that the quality control of their content will not be affected just because Japan is now in charge. He does this by sharing a film with the same title as the sketch that makes fun of America obsessions and the wackiness that Asian broadcasters tend to air.
  15. Finally, Chris Evert closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S15E06... HOST: WOODY HARRELSON... DATE: NOVEMBER 18, 1989

SNL: S15E06... HOST: WOODY HARRELSON... DATE: NOVEMBER 18, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with parody sequel entitled Five Easy Pieces '89 where Phil Hartman as Jack Nicholson as himself visited the Warner Brother Payroll Office to collect on the money he was offered to play the Joker in Batman asking for bonds and stocks and other forms of funds that or normally demanded as payoff for criminal activities. Though I've heard the title Five Easy Pieces, I've never seen the movie and have no idea what it's about, leading me to think that I'm not getting the references, only the audience is silent as well. When the payroll agent denies the request, Nicholson destroys the office space which does get a laugh while also leading to the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Woody Harrelson then officially opened the show with a monolog about being excited to see David Byrne backstage which leads to a quick story about his failed musical interest. This story then leads our host to perform one of his horrible songs caller Pretty Lady which was hard to tell if he performed it as a goof or if he really thought it was good.
  3. Who's Dumber? was a game show sketch hosted by Jon Lovitz with Woody Harrelson and Victoria Jackson as the two final contestants from a long-running tournament to find the dumbest American. Even though the questions are super simple they all led to a "Who's on first?" type of runaround during the answering phase.
  4. Pumping Up With Hans And Franz then returned for another installment where this week the two muscle-bound brothers talk about the bringing down of the Berlin Wall and go on to announce that they're going to bring down walls of their own with the help of their new liposuction machine. Enter "Roseanne Barr, who steps behind of a curtain and gets the fat sucked out of her ass. Trouble soon ensues as her fat starts to overfill the collection container and slip all over the floor leading to total chaos when the brothers start slipping around. The sketch ended with a reveal that all of this fat came from "Roseanne's" lower half with an up top still very heavy.
  5. Attitudes also returned for another installment with Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn as dueling hosts who fight for the spotlight while their guests barely seem interested in the show. This week the two passive-aggressive host interview Woody Harrelson who makes miniature models of tiny food in his effort to escape the 9 to 5 rat race. While the to host try and talk this up like it's the most amazing thing that they've ever seen, Woody's personality is so dry and awkward that he could bore anyone to sleep with his banter.
  6. David Byrne then took to the stage to perform Dirty Old Town.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, there were no special guests just Dennis Miller alone with his news.
  8. Three Very Lonesome Cowboys was a sketch that, like the title suggests, featured three cowboys on horseback who sing about the animals that they've contemplated having sex with when stricken by lonely feelings.
  9. We then went to an Army Hospital where Woody wakes up from a coma to find that he now only exists as a head only it takes a lot of questions for him to get the full extent of his injuries.
  10. Thanksgiving Good, Fire Bad was a sketch pitched as a Holiday Classic with Tonto, and Tarzan preparing their Thanksgiving meal while Frankenstein is outside where it's his duty to kill the turkey only he is too sensitive and attached being that he raised the bird from birth. After getting yelled at to complete the task Frankenstein kills the turkey at the same time the other two decide to go vegetarian. Their timing couldn't be worse because Frankenstein steps in the room with his dead pet in hand the second they come to this conclusion. Not all is lost though because Frankenstein takes what was going to be the holiday meal and hooks it up to the machine that brought him back to life creating a Franken-Feathered-Friend.
  11. David Byrne then returned to the stage to perform Loco de Amor.
  12. Sprockets also returned for another installment of the bizarre German talk show that awkwardly breaks down comedy with Dieter as the host with a very flat funny bone. This week Dieter interviews Woody Harrelson who is a German with more of a wild American attitude who is super loud and eats fast food while our host tries to pull off the serious show that we're used to.
  13. Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein then returned to the stage for a Thanksgiving Greetings where the three share what they are thankful for.
  14. We then met Kevin Nealon and Woody Harrelson as two Adult Education Students who awkwardly try to get one another, misreading the simplest of clues (IE Woody wears a Mets sweatshirt which gets Kevin to think that he actually plays for the team.) In the end, it turns out that the class is for recognizing poisonous snakes playing off of how wrong these two adults are when it comes to looking for signs.
  15. Finally, Woody Harrelson closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E07... HOST: JOHN GOODMAN... DATE: DECEMBER 2, 1989

SNL: S15E07... HOST: JOHN GOODMAN... DATE: DECEMBER 2, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with It Used To Be A Wonderful Life which obviously was a parody of It's A Wonderful Life where this go around "Jimmy Stewart" is meeting with the House Banking Committee to answer for the money he lost. Rather than this being a tale about the true meaning of community, this version of the story highlights the extent of political/corporate greed ending with the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. John Goodman then opened the show with a monolog about all of the successes that are happening in his life, including two new movies, a recent marriage and his ongoing role on Roseanne. We then went backstage to see Victoria Jackson and Goodman's sit-com wife who is getting more attention than him to the point where no one is paying attention to our host because everyone, including the writer Conan O'Brien, is in the hall asking for autographs.
  3. This was followed by a fake ad for BeautyBath from a couple years ago where "Imelda Marcos" pitches her line of bubble bath.
  4. Wayne's World then returned for another installment where this time the two basement dwelling cable hosts talk about movies before interviewing John Goodman who plays the town's police chief who they invited onto the show to prank after being arrested for throwing snowballs at passing cars. This turns the sketch into an impromptu America's Most Wanted where Wayne and Garth reenact local crimes as Sheriff Goodman describes them.
  5. Cooking With The Anal-Retentive Chef also returned for another segment where once again the clean freak of a host spend so much time tidying after sharing step one of his pot pie recipe that he never gets around to step two. Only this week, he has John Goodman, who plays a Cajun chef as his special guest who couldn't care less about cleanliness which drives our anal host over the edge.
  6. Toonces, the Cat Who Could Drive A Car was yet another return sketch where this week the driving feline has a run in with Martians while driving around with Dana Carvey and Victoria Jackson who play his owners. The sketch ends with the cat driving into the Washington Monument while piloting the UFO.
  7. K.D. Lang And The Reclines then took to the stage to perform Pullin' Back The Reins.
  8. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Jon Lovitz's Annoying Man character returned for another segment where he does nothing but pesters Dennis Miller.
  9. The Mike Ditka Type-A Christmas Special was as the title suggests a Christmas Special hosted by Phil Hartman who played the coach of the Bears who has strong opinions of how to be festive while at the same time being proactive.
  10. The Referee Pitman Show was a sports show parody playing off of the trope of a blind referee where Goodman as referee Pitman can't even explain his own calls and spends the entire talk show defending his visual accuracy.
  11. K.D. Lang And The Reclines then returned to the stage to perform Johnny Get Angry.
  12. We then went to an upper-class suburban home to meet John Goodman and Nora Dunn who play the parents of Mike Myers who has recently joined the Crips and is sharing his experience with his uber-white parents as if he had just joined a country club.
  13. We then got a repeat of the fake ThirtySomething Cereal ad from a few episodes ago.
  14. Finally, John Goodman closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E08... HOST: ROBERT WAGNER... DATE: DECEMBER 9, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with A Special Christmas Message From The President Of The United States where Dana Carvey as Bush Sr. and a small child as a sleeping Dan Quayle who still believe in Santa which is the focus of the first part of the President's message. After that, he goes on to desperately share his progress, wanting to be seen as a successful POTUS. As always, this being the opening sketch, it eventually led to the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Robert Wagner then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he refused to sing Christmas songs to open the show because he preferred to open the show with a few jokes since he sees himself as a comedic host. He then attempted to tell a joke that was so bad he quickly bailed out on his attempt to be funny and went right into singing a Christmas song.
  3. We then got a repeat of the fake Yard-A-Pult ad from earlier in the year which is a contraption that catapults your yard waste onto the neighbor's property which could be up to three blocks away.
  4. Matt Stevers: Male Nurse was a sketch from back in the day when nursing just wasn't a male career so most of the jokes stem from this sexist trope that doesn't make all that much sense today where the chance of getting a male nurse is 50/50. For some reason, they also give this male nurse a violent side and have him beat up the female doctor while she attempts to sexually harass him.
  5. Attack Of The Masturbating Zombies was a parody of an old zombie film only instead of the walking dead who want brain these reanimated monsters prefer to play with themselves while watching couples at Make-Out Point.
  6. Tales Of The Runaway Boulder was a PBS style sketch that started with Robert Wagner sitting in a den where he discussed the night's stories of a famous runaway boulder that was used in many films. Though this sketch was pretty funny, it was also way too convoluted to go into more details.
  7. Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville then took to the stage to perform Don't Know Much.
  8. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Dennis Miller's Christmas Craft corner was introduced where the lead anchor showed up a bunch of art supplies only to push everything into the garbage and suggest that you just buy the finished product.
  9. A Betty Ford Straight Arrow Christmas was a Christmas Special held at a rehabilitation facility filled with famous drunks and druggies from the time who all struggle to stay straight throughout the entire show.
  10. The Betty Ford special was interrupted by a Binaca sponsored segment entitled You Make The Call where they showed a Berry Goldwater speech where something seemed wrong leaving the home viewer to guess if he's drunk or has a valid excuse.
  11. We then went to a fancy restaurant where Jan Hooks and Robert Wagner are on their first date when Jan learns that Robert is an extremely sloppy eater even though he talks with the confidence of the ultimate potential mate.
  12. "David Rockefeller" then got a segment where he explained his family's decision to sell their controlling share of NBC off to the Japanese. He then goes on to explain to the Americans who nervous about this foreign trade that if anything, the Japanese are less evil than the Rockefeller family and even provided a few examples.
  13. In The Middle was a political talk show with two hosts, one representing the right, the other the left while the guest is stuck in the middle of every topic of discussion only to piss off either side depending on the direction he leans.
  14. Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville then returned to the stage to perform When Something Is Wrong.
  15. Swivel Chair Mystery Theatre was a sketch filled with heightened drama from everyone sitting in executive chairs who each turn to the sound of suspenseful music whenever they deliver a line.
  16. Finally, Robert Wagner closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E09... HOST: ANDIE MACDOWELL... DATE: DECEMBER 16, 1989

SNL: S15E09... HOST: ANDIE MACDOWELL... DATE: DECEMBER 16, 1989

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a Drunk Driving Message where Kevin Nealon starts out talking about his son's recent death from a drunk at the wheel only to be cut off by the Energizer Bunny, which not only leads to laughs from the crowd but also the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Andie MacDowell then officially opened the show with a monolog about how she is intrigued to see what her father will think being that super conservative and is usually asleep by 9:00 in the PM. She then went on to tell a story of her dad going to see her movie Sex, Lies, and Video Tapes and how he didn't approve of some of the content. This led our host to then warn her father to step out of the room at specific times on the clock when she may be in some of the more risque sketches of the night.
  3. The Night Hanukkah Harry Saved Christmas was a sketch that introduced us to the Jewish version of Santa Clause, who steps in for the jolly man when he gets too sick to deliver presents to the children.
  4. We then went to a daycare center where Andie MacDowell and other parents talk about their newborn babies where everyone but our host has a different style of Baby Carriers that they swear by and all find it odd that Andie prefers to carry her kid in her arms in hopes to create a bond.
  5. Church Chat then returned for the first time in a while. This week was more of the same Satan blaming silliness only with a different set of heathenistic guests who were involved in scandals from this time. This installment also had a brief parody of Sex, Lies, And Video Tapes where the Church Lady makes a crude confession since Andie MacDowell was herself as a guest. The show within the show also ended with the Church Lady singing Let It Snow with harassing the audience to celebrate the Christmas season.
  6. Tracy Chapman then took to the stage to perform Gimme One Reason.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Victoria Jackson dropped in as Mrs. Clause to bitch about her husband since she knows that he's a viewer of the show. She then performs a song about needing the fat man's attention in bed. Al Franken also dropped in for his final update of The Decade Of Al Franken where he shares his accomplishments before introducing his son to start The Decade Of Joe Franken with this being the official handoff.
  8. We then got a Tribute To Hal Jerome where Andie MacDowell and a handful of cast mates sang a medley of tunes and shared the life of the late/fictional Broadway composer, who wrote musicals that were just a little off from plays with similar names that went on to become big hits. At first, this felt like it was going to be a quick but real tribute but then become an obvious joke as the songs get more and more narcissistic and strange living up to the adage, "Write what you know."
  9. "Dieter In Space" was supposed to be a short film featuring the Sprockets host but I couldn't find it anywhere on the internet.
  10. Tracy Chapman then returned to the stage to perform All That You Have.
  11. This Is Your Day was a sketch where Nora Dunn played the older sister of Andie MacDowell who is in her wedding dress waiting to get married. Though she keeps saying that "This is your day," to the guest of honor she cannot help but share her own problems unintentionally adding to the pressure while also stealing the spotlight. Nora eventually leaves only to be replaced by another bridesmaid who gives Andie the same exact treatment. This goes on and on with multiple guests even including both her future husband and current father who can only complain on this very special day.
  12. We then got another Season's Greetings segment. This time, Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein sing The Little Drummer Boy.
  13. Finally, Andie MacDowell closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.

SNL: S15E10... HOST: ED O'NEILL... DATE: JANUARY 13, 1990

SNL: S15E10... HOST: ED O'NEILL... DATE: JANUARY 13, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a sketch about Noriega's Plan where we see the former ruler of Panama talking to Bush in prison visiting rule. It turns out that the two go way back and not a lot about one another's families. Bush is there to apologize knowing that there is a lot of dirt to be shared when this case goes to trial and doesn't want Noriega to spill the beans which leads the former dictator to share a new corrupt plan that Bush cannot resist. We then went to a tiny submarine with Bush and Noriega taking out one of their common enemies before Bush's announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Ed O'Neill then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he is not a contest winner but the star of Married With Children that aired on FOX at the time which was a new station and not nationally available. He then goes on to explain how both his show and SNL have more in common than one might expect because they both have been involved in a lot of controversy over content at the time only the rest of the cast disagrees and wants to distance themselves from such a crude source of comedy. Maury also made a cameo appearance to ask Ed to try and distance his connection to FOX as well, which is funny because I always remember Married With Children being seen as such a controversial show but my family watched it like it was The Brady Bunch when compared to real life.
  3. BiziLady was a fake ad for a tiny razor for women on the move to always be ready to shave.
  4. We then went to a corner store for a sketch called I Got What You Need, where Ed O'Neill and Kevin Nealon play two Italian store workers who answer all of the customer's questions with, "I got what you need right here," while hinting that they are talking about their crotch. This leads to a few confused faces until it is revealed that what they're actually the perfect item that is sitting on the shelf just out of sight.
  5. Wayne's World then returned for another installment where the two basement dwelling public access talk show hosts interviewed Ed O'Neill as the Driver's Ed teacher from their high school who is obsessed with driver's safety while the make goofball hosts make wordplay jokes that go over the teacher's head. The sketch ended with an impromptu PSA about drinking and driving making it two weeks in a row that SNL has treated this cause as a joke. I get it though, at the time driving while intoxicated wasn't even a crime and was just starting to be publicly discouraged, so I can see how this change in morality can lead to a few jokes until the masses finally catch on and agree.
  6. Harry Connick Jr. then took to the stage to perform It Had To Be You.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Al Franken dropped in to discuss the subtleties of language and how it is used differently amongst subcultures but only ended up focusing on stand-up comedians who have various death-themed phrases for when they bomb. Dana Carvey's Grumpy Old Man character also got a segment where he explained why radio was way better than TV mainly because "That was the way things were and they LIKED IT."
  8. The Nagging Husband was a sketch where Ed O'Neill gets home super late from work to find his wife waiting up in a bathrobe and doing a crossword. She's too focused on the puzzle to create any form of fuss even when her husband begins to nag. After a few seconds, it becomes clear why she doesn't seem to care because she is not the brunt of his anger and all of Ed's nagging is directed at himself as he beats himself up over the horrible day he just experienced. Though it was a funny twist, it was also sad to see this mess of a man with good intent be so hard on himself without even a hint of acknowledgment to either comfort or correct his mood.
  9. Dennis Woo's Real Estate Fortunes The Easy Way was a parody of a real infomercial from the time where this rich Asian guy claimed to have a book that shared the secrets to becoming as rich as him but was mainly a way for him show off the luxurious items and many women he was able to afford.
  10. Ceausescu's Wake took place in a Romanian Funeral home where the citizens that he used to rule struggle to come up with compliments about the late communist leader. To make things more interesting, everyone in the room spits whenever they say his name.
  11. Harry Connick Jr. then returned to the stage to perform It's Alright With Me.
  12. Lothar Of The Hill People also returned for another installment where the medieval men's counselor of sorts continues to discuss woman issues with the various member of his clan.
  13. Lorne Michaels then got a segment called SNL In The 90's where he explained the upcoming changes to the show now that we're entering a new/futuristic decade with many amazing advanced technologies, some may be do-able soon but for the most part, these are unachievable dreams.
  14. Finally, Ed O'Neill closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E11... HOST: CHRISTOPHER WALKEN... DATE: JANUARY 20, 1990

SNL: S15E11... HOST: CHRISTOPHER WALKEN... DATE: JANUARY 20, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a parody of The Tonight Show where Ed McMahon was out sick so Johnny replaced him with a speaker hooked up to a soundboard filled with typical McMahon responses. The guest for this segment was Andrew Dice Clay who was there to share his controversial material from the time but had to switch the words that were deemed filthy to allow the segment to go out over the air. Gorbachev was the second guest to discuss the new Unified States that made up Russia following the communist collapse. Gorbachev then ended the segment by claiming to have important news, only to use the opportunity to announce, "Live from New York..."
  2. Christopher Walken then officially opened the show with a monolog about his reputation for being cold, distant and sinister to the put where it seems like he is reading off the cue cards, all while sounding cold, distant, sinister and sounding like he was reading off a cue card. To shed some like on the real Christopher Walken he cued the band and jumped into singing a peppy musical tune and finishes it off with a fancy dance.
  3. We then got a repeat of the classic Colon Blow ad from earlier in the season.
  4. Eternity was a sketch about a Calvin Klein produced game show with the title inspired by their line of perfume/cologne. In the show, the contestants are actually new spirits trapped in Limbo because they committed suicide. These contestants have to answer depressing questions about relationships and life and their answers were in the style of what we would now consider Emo.
  5. Girlfriend Dumping Service was a sketch where Victoria Jackson is dating a wealthy man who hires people to take care of her every need from driving her around to making her healthy meals. It turns out that he doesn't just hire people to provide luxuries but hires people to do his dirty work as well.
  6. Bonnie Raitt then took to the stage to perform Have a Heart.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Annoying Man dropped in for another segment where he promises not to pester Miller only he can't resist his urge.
  8. The Continental was the first installment of the classic POV sketch where Walken tries to seduce a woman who never speaks and all we see is her glove. Even though we never hear a word from the fancy lady her action makes it very clear how she feels about the lecherous creep as she spends the entire sketch plotting her escape.
  9. Attitudes then returned for another installment with Jan Hooks and Nora Dunn as two spotlight stealing hosts who are both have that morning show host high energy as they interview unenergetic guests who have very interesting careers. This week, they interview Christopher Walken as the John 3:16 Rainbow Head guy from sport who is super dry and boring despite looking like the most interesting person in the room.
  10. Lease With An Option To Kill was a parody of a James Bond film with Christopher Walken as the evil villain who is upset that the building of his volcano island is taking so long because he doesn't have realistic expectations. At one point, a henchman captures 007 leaving Walken to have to explain what he's going to do to the secret agent as soon as the construction is finished.
  11. Bonnie Raitt then returned to the stage to perform Thing Called Love.
  12. Hardbound was a talk show sketch where Kevin Nealon plays a host who interviews his favorite authors with Christopher Walken as his guest who shares his personal story as a writer leading Nealon to get turned on.
  13. Finally, Christopher Walken closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E12... HOST: QUINCY JONES... DATE: FEBRUARY 10, 1990

SNL: S15E12... HOST: QUINCY JONES... DATE: FEBRUARY 10, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a Pumping Up With Hans And Franz Valentine's Day Special that was pretty much the same silly sketch as usually only to two muscle-bound brothers speak about their size and strength in a seductive tone and finish off the sketch with a medley of song parodies about muscles that lead the two to duet the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Quincy Jones then officially opened the show with a monolog about Nelson Mandela being set free which led to the performance of a song that Quincy composed in order to celebrate the soon to be South African president's release. He then jokingly admits that he lied and that this was actually an old Dizzy Gillespie song and that he's not happy to be there but is excited about Mandela's release. Normally, I don't like the "I'm not happy to be here," joke but he did deliver it in an obviously playful tone.
  3. Century 21 Marriage Counselors was a sketch where Quincy played a modern-day counselor who provides help to patients by playing music that inspires them to sing the blues while sharing their deepest problems.
  4. We then got a parody of Driving Miss Daisy with Quincy in the Danny Glover role with Jan Hooks in the role of Miss Daisy. In the sketch, Miss Daisy's an even bigger pain than in the original sketch and Quincy is far less tolerant in dealing with her nonsense to the point where he quits by jumping out of the moving car sending Miss Daisy and her vehicle over a cliff. Apparently, this major crash wasn't enough to kill the old bag as we witness the new driver opening get filled by Toonces The Cat who also ends up sending the grumpy old woman over the cliff while she nags.
  5. This was followed by a fake ad for The Bob Waltman Special that promoted an upcoming interview between this Bob Waltman character, whoever he is, and Leona Helmsley who gets emotional while explaining her life now that she's broke. They also promoted an interview with Quincy Jones as Marion Berry who gets emotional and used his sniffling as an excuse to snort coke. They then go on to promote a few more interviews all with the same theme with people involved with scandals getting emotional over inappropriate things and not with what got them in trouble. For a fake commercial this went on way too long and used too many examples to where the premise became more annoying than funny.
  6. Jazz Perspectif was a talk show sketch with Dana Carvey and Jon Lovitz as French Beatniks who interview Quincy Jones, as himself, about jazz. Other than the French accents and a couple of funny physical jokes making fun of the French's taste in humor, I struggled to follow the premise or purpose but still found this sketch to be rather fun.
  7. Quincy Jones, Take 6, Tevin Campbell, Andrae Crouch, Sandra Crouch, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Melle Mel, Quincy D III, Siedah Garrett and Al Jarreau all took to the stage to perform Back On The Block.
  8. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, was an all-news week with nothing but jokes about current affairs from the time as read by head anchor Dennis Miller.
  9. We then went to a Jewish Temple for A Coming Together between the Jewish practitioners and Baptist believer in an effort to resolve the differences between the two communities but was mainly a sketch to make fun of the stereotypical speech/preach patterns of the two religious leaders. It was also an excuse to get Kool More Dee and Melle Mel to perform a comedic rap song as fictitious rap artist to apologize for earlier anti-Semitic lyrics only to go on and bash the Italians instead.
  10. Sharing The Swimsuit Issue was a sketch featuring Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein on Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue day where the three decide it's only fair to share the first flip through the magazine at the same time causing Frankenstein to get sexually frustrated.
  11. Quincy Jones, Take 6, Tevin Campbell, Andrae Crouch, Sandra Crouch, Kool Moe Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Melle Mel, Quincy D III, Siedah Garrett and Al Jarreau all returned to the stage to perform We Be Doinit.
  12. Soviet Central Committee was a sketch that I think was swapped out for sketch #14 on this list because I couldn't find this sketch anywhere on the internet while I also couldn't find sketch #14 on any online sketch lists.
  13. We then got a very weird set up to a sketch with Dana Carvey playing a carnie who maliciously kills a bunch of people on a Ferris Wheel by cranking it up to its maximum speed. At first, it seemed like this was going to be a quick in and out sketch but then we got introduced to The House Committee On Dials And Gauges for a hearing to explain why the speed gauge was designed to be able to go this fast in the first place. We also got to see several other gauges with similar flawed designs.
  14. This was followed by a fake ad for a Quincy Jones compilation record featuring the transitional tunes used to score a movie including tiptoe sounds and a melody to represent walking.
  15. Tonto, Tarzan, and Frankenstein then returned to the stage to sing We Are World to end the night.
  16. Finally, Quincy Jones closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E13... HOST: TOM HANKS... DATE: FEBRUARY 17, 1990

SNL: S15E13... HOST: TOM HANKS... DATE: FEBRUARY 17, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started at Trump Tower with coverage of Donald Trump's Prenuptial Agreements from when he was splitting up with Ivana. In the sketch, Ivana was trying to get more money out of Trump being that the divorced was based on him having an affair only The Donald is so prepared that any of her demands have already been thought up in their premarital paperwork that's about as thick as a dictionary. He does eventually offer her a chance to win more of his earning by play a game of three card monte but he's such a shark that there's no way she could possibly win. Of course, this being the opening sketch, Ivana's failure to win leads to Donald's announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Tom Hanks then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he just hurt his knee backstage and despite him telling the audience and director that he is doing fine, his look of pain and inner voice reveal something is seriously wrong. After a few back and forths between telling the director that he's feeling fine and his inner voice contradicting his claim, Tom Hanks drops dead leading us to witness his out of body experience as medics rush his body off the stage. After a while, Lincoln drops in to inform our host that he's a "pussy" for dying from such a minor event.
  3. Red Square McDonald's was apparently a fake ad but I couldn't find it anywhere in the internet.
  4. Wayne's World then returned for another installment where this week, the two basement dwelling cable access hosts interview Tom Hanks/Garth's cousin who's a roadie for Aerosmith. The actual band was waiting upstairs being entertained by Wayne's mom before they came down as the second guest to perform the theme song to Wayne's World with Wayne on guitar and Garth in the back on drums.
  5. Tales Of Ribaldry was a PBS style sketch that started with Jon Lovitz in a fancy home library to introduce the classic tale we are about to watch. We then cut back and forth between Lovitz and the action he introduces as it plays out. The story of the sketch is a period piece where Tom Hanks plays the stable boy/boot shiner who is hit on by all of the girls. The story is pretty boring with most of the comedy coming from Jon Lovitz's crazy French character chiming in to provide commentary on what's being seen in the scene.
  6. Aerosmith then took to the stage to perform Janie's Got a Gun.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Al Franken got another segment via satellite as his one-man mobile unit reporter characters for another update on the war on drugs. This time he is down on the wharf where he witnesses an incoming shipment of cocaine only to be caught and shot at until the signal went off the air.
  8. We then got a follow up on Mr. Short-Term Memory who drops by the hospital to visit an injured friend only he freaks out the entire time since he is unable to remember a single detail of the accident for more than a moment or two which creates an endless loop.
  9. Eye On Chest Hair was another sketch that I couldn't find anywhere on the internet.
  10. Jensen Syringe Company was a fake ad for a syringe company with a flair for the dramatic as this sketch has an intense build up with an anticlimactic call to buy their brand of needles.
  11. This was followed by a fake ad for The Mob where Nora Dunn shares her experience of turning to the mob to save her family business following the death of her husband who used to take care of the business side of the store.
  12. We then got a follow up fake ad for the Jensen Syringe Company which was pretty much the same idea as the first installment, only with different imagery.
  13. Aerosmith then returned to the stage to perform Monkey on My Back.
  14. Girl Watchers: A Go-G0 also returned for another segment where this time Tom Hanks and Jon Lovitz are playing their cat-calling loser characters only this time they're on a cruise where even the old women are turning them down.
  15. "Andy Rooney" then shared a Black History Moment in the style of his 60 Minutes segment where he rambles on about what he's observed over the years.
  16. This was followed by part three of the Jensen Syringe Company fake ad campaign but for some dumb reason, only two of the three spots are available on the internet with part three nowhere to be found.
  17. Finally, Tom Hanks closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E14... HOST: FRED SAVAGE... DATE: FEBRUARY 24, 1990

SNL: S15E14... HOST: FRED SAVAGE... DATE: FEBRUARY 24, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with another installment of Church Chat. This time, Fred Savage played a Mini-Me to Dana Carvey's Church Lady and the two team up on their scandalous guests with the usual focus on their dealing with SATAN. Also as always, this being the opening sketch it all builds up to the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Fred Savage then officially opened the show with a monolog about how great it is to host the show that films way past his bedtime, he fits in a couple other funny jokes before the monolog became a parody of Wonder Years as Fred Savage starts to speed through the opening stages of puberty to a voice-over explaining his inner thoughts.
  3. We then got a sketch about Gun Safety where Phil Hartman and Victoria Jackson are about to head out to see a movie leaving the fifteen-year-old home alone to watch himself. Victoria is concerned about leaving him alone for the first time especially because there is a gun in the house. Phil Hartman tells her not to worry because the gun is safely hidden behind his collection of Playboy. We then meet Fred Savage as the kid in question who is dressed in camo and obviously into gunplay but they decided to leave him anyways. The second they close the door, Fred Savage rushes up to his parent's room and comes down playing with the gun like it was a toy. Phil then returns to find his son with the gun and informs him that he's in big trouble. Fred Savage quickly realizes that he has the gun and therefore he is the one with the power and tells his dad that he is the one who is in trouble. Luckily for Phil, Victoria joins in on the standoff with a gun of her own and tells Fred Savage to go to bed. It's then revealed that this is a PSA as more silly gunplay plays out.
  4. The Pat Stevens Show then returned after a long break and was still more of the same with Nora Dunn playing Pat Stevens who interviews Fred Savage as himself in a style that makes it feel like you have to know the real Pat Stevens Show in order to get the joke.
  5. Technotronic then took to the stage to perform Pump Up The Jam.
  6. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Jon Lovitz's Annoying Guy character dropped by again to continue to pester Dennis Miller while performing a bunch of crappy magic tricks that aren't even tricks at all but are cringe-worthy acts like chewing foil and scrapping a fork across a chalkboard. Kevin Nealon also dropped in as an on the scene reporter who provides News From 10 Feet Away where he gives an update as to what is currently going on from the audience where he has nothing to report but how the fans seem to be irked by this segment. Then, to close the news, Dana Carvey returned as his Grumpy Old Man character to share how people struggled in the past and how "they liked it!"
  7. Imaginary Friends was a sketch where Fred Savage is on a playdate with a friend and their parents get super competitive over which kid is more creative when describing their pretend friends. When Fred Savage shares that his imaginary friend is just some guy it leads to the end of the get together because his parents are so disappointed. This seemed like it could have been a funny sketch if it were to stop right here but then it goes on for what seems to be forever as Fred's parents send him up to his room to come up with a better invisible companion since they entered him into an Imaginary Friend contest. Weeks then go by and we cut to the contest where Fred starts to give a dramatic speech about how his father is now his imaginary friend because their real relationship is dying. Rather than touch the crowd this speech leads to nothing but boos until Fred Savage manages to Kaiser Soze together a new friend based on items around the room.
  8. This was followed by a sketch that took place during a Rocket Launch that keeps having to be put on hold as various people walking onto the launch pad and right under the rocket's thrusters. They save everyone from Lassie to Hitler (only because he's holding the Mona Lisa) but rush to launch when Donald Trump and Marla Maples get in their way.
  9. Lothar Of The Hill People apparently returned but I couldn't find this sketch anywhere on the internet.
  10. Technotronic then returned to the stage to perform Get Up!
  11. Hooked On Sushi was apparently a Schiller's Reel short film but it was yet another segment that I couldn't find online.
  12. Finally, Fred Savage closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E15... HOST: ROB LOWE... DATE: MARCH 17, 1990

SNL: S15E15... HOST: ROB LOWE... DATE: MARCH 17, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started at the White House where, once again, George Bush Sr. is desperate to defend his job by sharing even the smallest of successes. About halfway through the sketch, we cut to backstage where Rob Lowe shares Sex Tape Worries and how it might affect his appearance being that it involved sex with an underage girl which might not sit well with the audience. It doesn't take much for Lorne and a couple cast members to ease him of his worries so we then went back to the Bush sketch for the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Rob Lowe then officially opened the show with a monolog where they make light fun of Rob Lowe's situation where once again they treat the fact that he had sex with a sixteen-year-old on video as if it were no big deal.
  3. This was followed by a fake ad for an album filled with Irish Drinking Songs where the main themes have to deal with nothing but drinking and fighting.
  4. Church Chat then returned for another installment where this time, the Church Lady pesters Rob Lowe about his sex scandal where he was caught making a sex tape with an under-aged girl while speaking in code after promising not to bring it up. As always the Church Lady blames all of Lowe's sins on his relationship with SATAN and finishes the sketch by paddling his butt with a wooden cricket paddle.
  5. This was followed by a fake political ad for Governor Wade Hammond who is running for office and brags about his body count from his use of the death penalty in an effort to get more votes.
  6. Sprockets then returned for another installment with a special edition called Dieter's Dance Party where a room full of people dressed in tight black clothes dance and discuss bizarre "German Hits" of the day.
  7. Dieter's Dance Party was then interrupted by a fake German ad for Clearasil where the main joke is that everyone is speaking German because other than that it was almost a real commercial.
  8. This was by another fake political ad this time for Jack Harbaugh who claims that he will make the death penalty a more painful experience in order to get more votes.
  9. The Pogues then took to the stage to perform White City.
  10. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, the annoying Energizer Bunny fell into a vat of acid so Jon Lovitz's Annoying Guy character stepped in and took its place. A. Whitney Brown got another Big Picture segment where he discusses the changes in Russia following the collapse of communism.
  11. The Arsenio Beckman Show was, of course, a parody of Arsenio Hall where Rob Lowe plays Arsenio Beckman who mocks Arsenio Hall's opening monolog and how crazy he used to get with the crowd, all the while saying nothing at all. I'm pretty sure this was a funny sketch back in the day because the impressions of both Hall and his show were pretty spot on but through modern eyes the reference material is so out of date that it didn't seem funny at all.
  12. Randy X For Governor the third and final political ad where Randy promotes himself as being so pro-death penalty that he's actually the guy who pulls the switch which is why he wears a mask and his last name in an anonymous X.
  13. We then went to a prison for a sketch called Mace's Trainer where Phil Hartman plays Mace who is a rapey inmate and gets Rob Lowe as his new cellmate. This Mace character seems sexually threatening to Lowe as he introduces him to the cell but it turns out he's more interested in Rob Lowe's body because he wants to lose weight by the time he gets out and figures Rob might fit as a trainer to teach him how to work out. This is when Rob Lowe flips the script by suggesting he practice Lambada and as the two dirty danced around the cell it turned out Rob Lowe is actually the rapey one which to me is a weird move to make considering this episode is Lowe's attempt at damage control following a statutory rape incident.
  14. Helmet Head was a sit-com sketch about a military vet who managed to get his helmet stuck to his head during the war. In the sketch Helmet Head is extremely sensitive about the situation and gets irate whenever his guests offer simple solutions as to how to remove the helmet. After his attitude ruins a fun night with the neighbors he decides to go see a Helmetologist who only manages to make it worse.
  15. The Pogues then returned to the stage to perform Body.
  16. Alexander's Fur World was a fake as for a fur coat store where all of the furs came from either suicidal animals, road kill, or violent animals who had to be put down in an effort to ease the guilt of their customers.
  17. Finally, Rob Lowe closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E16... HOST: DEBRA WINGER... DATE: MARCH 24, 1990

SNL: S15E16... HOST: DEBRA WINGER... DATE: MARCH 24, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a sketch called Reagan And The Census where a census agent dropped by Ronald Reagan's house to ask him the standard census questions.  Just like his final years as president, Reagan claimed to have zero recall to answer even the simplest of questions. After the census agent left in defeat, Reagan found that he somehow managed to lock himself out of the house. In a panic, the former president set off the burglar alarm while trying to get back in. The alarm led to even more panic since the former world leader had no idea what to do and after running around for a bit he turned to the camera to announce, "Live from New York..."
  2. Debra Winger then officially opened the show with a monolog about how she never expected to host the show then went on to explain the formula of how this came to be. It turns out this was the episode that aired the Saturday before the Academy Awards and since she was nominated for an award in the past, had no current projects, was in town and free made her the perfect default choice to host this Oscar's themed episode. Her delivery was terrible and her lack of enthusiasm seemed sincere as she genuinely seemed relieved to be done with the introduction.
  3. Wayne's World then returned for another installment where this week the two basement dwelling cable access hosts talked about the Academy Award by sharing the Oscar picks where they have Batman winning everything even though it was it nominated that year. Their guest of the week was Debra Wingers who plays the school slut who seemed just as uninterested in being their fictional guest as her monolog made her seem uninterested in hosting the show.
  4. Toonces The Driving Cat also returned for a parody of Urban Cowboy only it's called Urban Toonces. In this version of the story, the car driving cat is the one to bring patrons to the bar by riding the mechanical bull the way Debra Winger did in the real movie. Following the bull ride, Toonces drove everyone home only he's drunk so he ends up driving his passengers off a cliff in the traditional Toonces style.
  5. Eric Clapton then took to the stage to perform No Alibis.
  6. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Mr. Subliminal dropped in for another segment where he sneaks his own agenda while sharing the news of Donald Trump's love triangle between Ivana Trump and Marla Maples.
  7. The Adventures Of Calamity Jane was a sketch where Debra Winger played the titular character who had a desire to prove that she's as rough and tough as any of the Wild West Cowboys. Her aggressive vice fueled attitude only worked to land her in the middle of an intervention to correct her masculine tendencies and addiction to the drink. Eventually, after weeks of therapy and relapses, she finally discovered that her determination to compete with the guys stemmed from the fact that she's actually gay.
  8. Eric Clapton then returned to the stage to perform Pretending.
  9. Jon Lovitz's Romantic Scene was a sketch with Jon Lovitz and Debra Winger having a romantic dinner. Phil Hartman plays the waiter who interrupts Lovitz romantic stride. Soon after Hartman leaves the scene Lovitz reveals that he's pissed because he wrote this script to show off his acting chops and that he's more than just a goofy sidekick. This led Debra to encourage Lovitz to keep on going but the second he started to act cast member after cast member dropped by to upstage Lovitz by showing off their own acting skills.
  10. We then went to the Senate Record Labelling Hearings from back in the day when the decided to require explicit language warnings on albums. They started off the scene with "Ozzy" finishing his testimony before we got introduced to Satan who just put out an album of his own and thinks the stickers are bad due to the First Amendment. Unlike reality, in the world of the sketch, Satan actually wins and the warning labels never got implemented.
  11. Eric Clapton returned to the stage once again to perform Wonderful Tonight.
  12. Finally, Debra Winger closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E17... HOST: CORBIN BERNSEN... DATE: APRIL 14, 1990

SNL: S15E17... HOST: CORBIN BERNSEN... DATE: APRIL 14, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with a parody of a segment from the Cable Shopping Network where Brent Musburger and Jimmy The Greek are the two pitchmen pushing their cheese home shopping products to the home audience. This was another one of those sketches that might have been funnier back in the day when the references were fresh but through modern eyes, it doesn't age well at all. As always, this being the opening sketch it also ended with the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Corbin Bernsen then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he's shouldn't be confused with the character that he plays on LA Law and that he's not the arrogant womanizer that he plays on the show. Then after going into more details about the character he can't help but admit that he does actually have a lot in common with his character and was just hoping that his lie would win over the more hesitant viewers who might not like his kind.
  3. TV Lawyers was a sketch were Corbin Bernsen is being sued for an illegal addition to his house. When the judge asks Corbin where his representation is, he informs her that he's been a lawyer on TV for four years and can handle the case on his own. He then goes on to defend himself using TV terms in a manner that doesn't make any sense. The judge doesn't take well to this and offers to put the case on hold until Corbin can obtain a real attorney but Corbin had different plans and brings in several other TV lawyers to represent him, including someone else from LA Law, Perry Mason, and Matlock.
  4. The Night Hanukkah Harry Saved Easter was a follow up to Hanukkah Harry saving Christmas where Hanukkah Harry was enjoying his Passover dinner. It all starts out normal until Harry gets to the seder where he to tell the tale of Elijah. When he opens the door to let in Elijah's spirit, he's met by an injured Easter Bunny who ask Hanukkah Harry to help him deliver his Easter Eggs. For some reason, Hanukkah Harry can help on his own so he turns to Elijah's spirit to help him with the task but rather than eggs and chocolate Easter Bunnies he brings the Christian children a collection of traditional Jewish treats.
  5. The Smithereens then took to the stage to perform A Girl Like You.
  6. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Victoria Jackson stopped in for a segment where she talked about the passing of Mother Teresa and how she affected her life but mixes her story up with the tale of how Mickey Mantle promised a home run to a dying kid then goes on to memorialize both Mickey and Mother Teresa as her heroes. Dana Carvey also dropped in for another visit as his Grumpy Old Man character who, as always, share the way the world work when he was a child yet no one complained, "because that's the way it was and they LIKED IT."
  7. George F. Will's Sports Machine was a parody of a baseball-themed game show where the host questions former baseball players about the sport only the questions so advance, going into physics and philosophy, that neither contest has a clue what the questions even means let alone have the knowledge to answer.
  8. Conceited Guy was a sketch where Corbin Bernsen brings Jan Hooks back to his apartment after meeting her at a party and when they enter the room Jan Hooks is surprised to see a six-foot-wide ten-foot-tall picture of Corbin's face. Jan is hesitant to continue the date but decides to give him a chance until she finds that he has his face plastered all over the place from his glassware to his robe, this narcissism is too much for her to handle so she hightails it out of his place.
  9. We then got a sketch that started with a parody of a police drama Smart Streets that wasn't that funny and seemed to stop out of the blue before they got to a joke. We then cut to a talk show called Movers And Shakers where Nora Dunn interviews the producer of the Smart Streets series about this fictional show that almost seems too real to be funny. Eventual during the talk show segment we cut back to the Smart Streets scene as a promotional clip but this wasn't that funny as well. They then returned to the talk show set to finish the sketch on a "retard" joke that didn't seem to go over well even at that time when it was acceptable to use this type of language without it being a big deal.
  10. The Smithereens then returned to the stage to perform Blue Before And After.
  11. We then met a couple of Playgirl Models who are getting made up for their photo shoot who talk about the upcoming shoot in a way that you'd expect from their female counterparts only they each have an extra masculine voice.
  12. Finally, Corbin Bernsen closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E18... HOST: ALEC BALDWIN... DATE: APRIL 21, 1990

SNL: S15E18... HOST: ALEC BALDWIN... DATE: APRIL 21, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with another Message From The President Of The United States where once again Dana Carvey as George Bush desperately tries to prove that he is doing a good job as president by playing up efforts as if they were major accomplishments. As always, this being the opening sketch, it ended with the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Alec Baldwin then officially opened the show with a monolog about how he was nervous to do the monolog because he is more used to working on films where there is no live audience to have to impress. He then went on to do a dozen takes of different introductions to get in his comfort zone.
  3. Greenhilly was a sketch that takes place in a country estate where Alec Baldwin and Jan Hooks just finished a tennis match. A bird flew into the room while the two were talking about the game and in their effort to get it to leave the two end up locking eyes before they started to make out. Jan then runs out of the room saying that this was a big mistake. This sequence of events then happened over and over again which each girl who entered the room. Alec would get involved to help the girl with their issue then they'd lock eyes and make out and the girl would realize it was a big mistake. The comedy eventually comes from the same sequence of events happening with both Phil Hartman and the family dog.
  4. The Environmentally Conscious One was surprisingly the only sketch of the night that I couldn't find anywhere on the internet.
  5. The Greta Garbo I Knew was a parody biopic where Alec Baldwin's character shares his experience with Greta Garbo as her butler where he had to play charades with the reclusive actress in order to share her excuses as to why she was avoiding the world whenever anyone would call or show up at the door.
  6. Only In New York was a sketch that made fun of Cindy and Joey Adams while Cindy shares her gossip while Joey attempts to tell his jokes.
  7. The B-52's then took to the stage to perform Cosmic Thing.
  8. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, A. Whitney Brown dropped in for another Big Picture segment where he discussed the importance of Earth Day. Kevin Nealon also returned for another installment of New From 10 Feet Away where he reports on what the audience is doing while Dennis Miller just sits in the background and the director desperately attempts to cut the segment short going so far as to knock Nealon out with a sledgehammer.
  9. The Nude Talk Show was a sketch that showed a behind the scenes look at the development of this Nude Talk Show. After witnessing the development phase we got a taste of the pilot episode that failed due to the fact that it was just a couple of nude guys sitting around having a mundane conversation. Following the failure, the developer of the show got the brilliant idea to make it nude women and it instantly became a hit that went on to win awards.
  10. The Diner is a sketch that takes place at a diner where two dumb rednecks are enjoying their breakfast while the two waitresses do their job. Enter Alec Baldwin who plays the hot redneck type which leads the sketch to quickly turn the typical hot host sketch with Baldwin flirting with the head waitress while she fights to resist her urges.
  11. The B-52's then returned to the stage to perform Channel Z.
  12. Middle-Aged Man then made his debut to the show where this mystery man shows up out of the blue to give advice to the youth by sharing what he's learned from his half-life worth of experience. Tonight his main focus is Alec Baldwin problems in bed all the while worrying that the troubled couple is staring at his middle-aged gut.
  13. Finally, Alec Baldwin closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E19... HOST: ANDREW DICE CLAY... DATE: MAY 12, 1990

SNL: S15E19... HOST: ANDREW DICE CLAY... DATE: MAY 12, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with an announcement that The Pat Stevens Show would not be seen tonight due to a special program called It's A Wonderful Dice. This sketch started by showing news clippings about how people were outraged by the fact that the Dice Man was hosting SNL while also pointing out that both Nora Dunn and Sinead O'Connor dropped out of the show in protest, then went on to say that Dice had disappeared. This led to the It's A Wonderful Life parody that the title of the sketch implied, where Andrew is about to jump off a bridge until the devil grants him the wish to see what life would be if he was never born where Frank Zappa was the host in this alternate world, who bored the audience with his first amendment rants causing the show to be canceled. We also learn of other changes, both positive and negative, that stemmed from Dice's nonexistence leading up to the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Andrew Dice Clay then had to argue with some protesters before officially opening the show with a monolog about all of the attention he's been getting thanks to his controversial performance on MTV. He then went on to perform a bit of a stand-up routine about almost getting mugged on the way to the show by a bus driver who was on his break, in a much funnier telling than my summary.
  3. Diceman Employment Agency was a sketch where Andrew Dice Clay is an employment agent who's blunt and to the point in placing his clients in shady careers like crack dealing, fencing, and performing as a criminal look out when they are actually there to land more traditionally acceptable jobs.
  4. The above sketch was instantly followed by TV Guide Jeers where Don Pardo reads a predictive negative review of the sketch saying how sexist it was being that Victoria Jackson was offered a job as a hooker while Kevin Nealon was offered the higher paying gig as a drug dealer simply because he's a man.
  5. Cooking With the Anal-Retentive Chef returned for another installment where Phil Hartman attempts to share another cooking tutorial but gets too caught up in cleaning to get past the very first step. This week, being that this was the Saturday before Mother's Day, Phil Hartman makes this attempt with Jan Hook as his mom who also acts as his sidekick and shares his desire to clean.
  6. Spanic Boys then took to the stage to perform Keep On Walking.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, Jon Lovitz dropped in as annoying man to conduct an annoying symphony which was just him being super annoying while humming the tune to a song. "Michael J. Fox" then checked in via satellite where he was "on set" in Vietnam while recording parts two and three of the movie Casualties Of War, making fun of the back to back filming of Back To The Future two and three.
  8. "Dad, What's Sex?" was an "After School Special" parody where Andrew Dice Clay teaches his son about the birds and the bees where they have to bleep every other word.
  9. WPLI was a sketch where Kevin Nealon played a morning radio DJ who interrupts the music every two seconds with the weather, traffic, and news, making it impossible to enjoy even the best of songs. Not only does he constantly chime in during the music but his guests get the same treatment as well.
  10. Jan Hooks' Personal Protest was a segment where Jan explains that she wanted to join in on Nora Dunn's boycott but didn't have the courage to stick to her guns. She then went on to claim, in a very joking tone, that her personal protest was to put in a half-assed performance during the two sketches that she was actually in.
  11. Cool Mite felt like the inspiration for Tiny Elvis where Andrew Dice Clay plays a tiny version of himself to talk chicks with his fellow greaser friends.
  12. Julee Cruise then took to the stage to perform Falling.
  13. Ridiculous Bull was a parody of Raging Bull only instead of the story being about a boxer it's the story of a slapstick comedian as played by Andrew Dice Clay.
  14. Kevin Nealon's Personal Protest was a follow up to Jan's segment where Kevin claims that he was only in three sketches out of protest and not due to the fact that he just wasn't written into them all.
  15. Finally, The Dice Man closed the show by thanking the audience and saying his goodnights.

SNL: S15E20... HOST: CANDICE BERGEN... DATE: MAY 19, 1990

SNL: S15E20... HOST: CANDICE BERGEN... DATE: MAY 19, 1990

The Wicker Breakdown:

  1. This week's show started with another Special Message From The President Of The United States where once again, Dana Carvey as George Bush Sr. shares his half-assed accomplishments for approval from the citizens of America. This week, he is nervous because he has to break the bad news that he's going to have to go back on his, "No new taxes," promise from his presidential campaign. As always, this being the opening sketch it builds up to the announcement of, "Live from New York..."
  2. Candice Bergen then officially opened the show with a monolog about her past visits and how she appreciated how SNL was her only outlet perform comedy. She then goes on to joke that she no longer needs the show now that she has Murphy Brown to fulfill her comedy needs, which as you know, the whole being too good for the show is one of my major pet peeves. Fortunately, she doesn't harp too long on about how she doesn't care about being there as she quickly shifts gears to perform a song and dance but her negative tone, joking or not has lowered my expectations.
  3. Toonces the Cat Who Could Drive A Car returned for another installment of one of my favorite repetitive sketches this time Toonces and the family show Candice and her cat home videos from their family vacation which is pretty much just a compilation of car crashes. Candice then informs the family that her cat has also learned to drive which causes Toonces to get super jealous to the point where he chloroforms his new competition and takes his place in disguise to drive everyone off a cliff.
  4. Single Men In Their Thirties And Early Forties was a sketch starring Jon Lovitz's Girl Watch A Go-Go character who has a message for women around his age about how they will have to lower their standards if they don't want to die alone since the dating pool in this age range is so lop side in the ugly man's favor.
  5. We then got a parody of The Tonight Show where Johnny Carson interviews Jay Leno about how weird it is to have Jay fill in when he's gone instead of just airing repeats like they used to. After Jay leaves, Ed and Johnny continue to discuss how weird it is to have a fill-in host before introducing Jan Hooks who plays a ninety-two-year-old tuba player in an attempt to top the weirdness of Jay Leno's visit. Johnny then has to struggle to get her to say more than a word and eventually learns she has no idea how to play the tuba which led Ed to put the old bag in an arm-lock to force her to sing in an effort to save the interview.
  6. The Notting Hillbillies then took to the stage to perform Railroad Worksong.
  7. Once again, Dennis Miller gave us the news. This week, A. Whitney Brown dropped in for another Big Picture segment where this time he discusses racial tension in New York City thanks to the rising heat from global warming. He then went on to share some examples and insights about recent racial incidents within New York.
  8. Wayne's World also returned for another installment where the two basement dwelling cable access hosts reviewed movies before they moved on to interview Candice Bergen who plays Garth's mom, where Wayne did nothing but flirt with his best friends mom and even shared a dream sequence where the two make out while Garth and his father are out of time for the summer.
  9. The Notting Hillbillies then returned to the stage to perform Love You Too Much.
  10. Once Upon A Time was a PBS style show where Dana Carvey played the host who sits in a fancy library and introduced the story of a bored queen from the Victorian era who is desperate to be entertained but is disappointed by even the best of the village's performers. We then meet Slow Ned, the village idiot who has a sheep turd that he is confident will win over the queen. We then went back to the castle where villager after villager fails to impress their ruler until sure enough Slow Ned shows up and the Queen is impressed by the turd.
  11. She Does It All was a sketch where Candice Bergan plays the CEO of a major company but has no idea how to delegate to the point where she does everyone's work from typing up reports to pouring everyone else's coffee. She even goes as far as to wash the building's windows where she also has to save herself from falling to her death.
  12. Finally, Candice Bergen closed the show by thanking the audience and saying her goodnights.
