/Last night I finished my latest app assignment, again this assignment was supposed to take about an hour if I were to follow along with the instructional video but I had bigger ideas. With all the extra bells and whistles it ended up taking me three days to get the app to where I'm ready to move on.
I'm proud of what I came up with and can't wait to learn how to share my work which is the final section of the course. At this point, I just want to share my progress because even though I'm putting all this extra effort into each assignment the end result is still the same as everyone else who has taken this class.
This extra polishing is one part; an attempt to stand out from the other, and multiple parts; learning to find solutions to issues that are outside the scope of the class. Since I don't have a video to reference for the extra features that I'm adding, if an issue arises it's up to me to figure out what I did wrong.
There have been times where I've done everything right only to have the app work in ways that I didn't intend. This would lead to hours of research only to find an unrelated issue from another part of the code. Though this felt like a waste of time when it happened, I now know where to check when I'm chasing my tail in an attempt to find the solution.
I don't think I would be gaining this experience if I wasn't straying so far from the course. So, even though this is taking me way longer than I was planned, I'm loving what I'm doing and can't wait to implement my newly acquired skills into real world applications.
Now it is time to get to work.
Talk to you tomorrow,
