Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Twenty-Nine, Dateline 8-17-2018

We give our lives to that which we give our time. I have learned that it is very difficult, if not impossible, to unclutter one’s life by starting at the top of the pile with the idea that the solution is to just get things sorted and better organized. It is nice to get better organized, but that is not enough. Much has to be discarded. We must actually get rid of it. To do this we need to develop a list of basics... [This list] must be the product of inspiration and prayerful judgment between the things we really need and things we just want. It should separate need from greed. It must be our best understanding of those things that are important as opposed to those things that are just interesting.

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-twenty-nine of Operation Achieve Anything. Here we are on yet another Friday, a payday Friday, meaning the next several days will be super fun as I go on my monthly payday shopping spree that gets followed by a week of Christmas as my purchases trickle in through the mail.

I know this may make me sound very materialistic, but I've been living in a room for close to four years with the same hand-me-down furniture that was already here when I moved in. The purchases mention above are to help personalize my space in an effort to boost my self-esteem by making the space feel like it's actually mine in a grounding way instead of looking around at a bunch of reminders of how easy it would be to just walk away, or worse off be sent away.

That's not to say that I plan to stay here forever, but I still have a few things to work through before I can move on to the next phase as my life, so I figure, I may as well make this phase much more comfortable, now that I passed the wallowing phase. I don't know if this idea will actually help at all, but I don't see how it could hurt.

I guess this kind of works to fulfill the task from yesterday's assignment, where I was supposed to stop planning things and finally put one of my goals into action. I'd consider this a cheat if I weren't already actively working towards so many goals that I don't have the time to take on any more until some of these older goals wind down.

Now let's move on to today's assignment that couldn't have better ironic timing as here I've been talking about adding more clutter to my room, the task for today is to sort out the clutter from my life. Thankfully, the book is talking about clutter as in how I fill my time, but I know the other clutter is bad as well, which is why I'm getting rid of more than just the items that I'm replacing as I update my living space.

As for the schedule clutter which is the real task at hand, as always, you'll have to wait for tomorrow's post to see what I manage to come up with. Until then, it's now time for me to wrap this thing up so that I can get to enjoying my weekend. With that, I'll sign off by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
