Dateline 10-14-2017

Well, my plans of having a productive weekend of writing have gone right out the window once again. As I pointed out in yesterday's post, I think my venturing out to be amongst the masses, for the first time in five years, not only left me with fun memories of an interesting night out with my family but also left me sick as a dog with a cold.

Last night turned out to be a very fun night even though it wasn't nearly as surreal as I was thinking/hoping that it would turn out to be. First off, since becoming an official shut-in, I couldn't tell you the last time I was an audience member to an event.

Alright, I think by tomorrow I will be back to my ideal schedule where I wake up early enough to get all of my blogging obligations completed by noon. As I said yesterday, I strayed from this schedule for about a week thanks to a mini bout of depression where I found it extra hard to get out of bed.

For some reason, I'm really struggling with sleep once again. Where I usually struggle to fall asleep, my new problem is I find it hard to get out of bed in the morning. This sucks because I found a schedule that really worked for me that I managed to stick to for a little over a month and have been trying to get back to it all week.

Why is it so much easier to write negative content filled with complaints that it is to come up with something positive to say? That not to say that I find it hard to write fun updates in general but when I do feel uninspired with no uplifting topic already thought out, I tend to turn to negative thoughts to muster up some content.

Yesterday turned out to be a pretty uneventful day leaving me with very little to report on. I woke up late after sleeping in then casually worked through my daily tasks. My slow pace to the day made me feel a little guilty that I wasn't taking advantage of my revived positive attitude to power through the day and know out a lot of rewrite pages.

Last night ended with a bit of a fun surprise. First off, yesterday was a successful day as far as writing goes but other than that everything else was the same. Though I don't really care about the numbers, I do like to check on this site's traffic from time to time. I checked a couple times throughout the day and everything seemed average on that from as well.

Alright, all of the internal drama from last week has passed. It's amazing how little has to change to trigger such a shift in my mood. Though I do think a big part of why I was feeling down had to do with the fact that I had the news on for 24 hours a day following the Las Vegas shooting but I was slipping into a dark place before any of that went down.

Alright, I've finally turned off the news, did a little work on my novel rewrite and am starting to feel my mood start to lighten. I can't remember what site it was, quite possibly MySpace, but I used to have "Watching tragedies play out on the new," as one of my guilty pleasures.

I can't wait for tomorrow to get here so that I can start my weekend. Unlike your average weekend warrior, I don't look forward to Friday for the freedom from work but instead, I look forward to the freedom that allows me to work on my projects with minimal interruptions unlike the rest of the week.

I don't know what happened but I've lost all of my steam. Where last week I found it easy to get right out of bed the moment I woke up and get right to work, this week I've been finding it hard to even get out of bed let alone jump right into my projects.

I wish I could go back to how I was feeling last week, enthusiastic about my efforts to rewrite my first novel which led me to feel more optimistic about my future and the world in general. Unfortunately, the world and I are not on the same page as both the news events of the past several days and the public's reactions leaves me feeling that this period of history is only going to get worse before we see any signs of positive change.

Oh man, I am really struggling to start this day. The problem is that it's a Monday that's coming off yet another lost weekend where I spent a day and a half powering through an entire box of wine. I didn't even plan to drink because I've been using the weekend to fit in more novel rewriting hours but when the family came over with booze in hand I couldn't help but give in and play along.

Last night ended up being a mixed bag of fun times with my family and the traumatizing experience of being in a room full of baby boomers. As always, the family aspect was fun because my second cousin/aunt and her friends who are in town for a work conference are a fun group of people as are the other family members who dropped by for a get-together.

I could only imagine how great it must feel to make a living doing what I love. I mean, I'm pretty close right now being that I'm doing what I love but the fact that I barely have an income has me too stressed out about my future to fully enjoy it as if I am gambling with my rent money, excited by the feelings that a win will lead me to be set for life while a loss will only double down on my problems.

Last night I witnessed another example of how much that I've changed since moving away from Seattle and how I've lost whatever social skill that I may have one had. My mom's cousin, who was like an aunt to me growing up is in town for some sort of work conference so she and a couple of her work friends dropped in for a visit and I crawled into my shell.

I'm getting a late start today because last night was the first night in a while that I had enough extra spending money to justify getting liquored up for maybe the second time this month? I don't know, I stopped keeping track of my drinking when drinking became more of a random event over being a favorite past time.

Today, being the day that the nine to fivers would call the hump day, marks the midpoint of what's already been a very successful week. For the last two days, I've been getting up super early, finishing a lot of my work when I'd normally still be asleep. Though this is a schedule I'd love to stick to, it's more important that during these days, I've managed to work out a major productivity tweak to where I'm back to writing fiction no matter the time of day.

Here we go with another day. Once again I am up earlier in the AM than usual and I like it. Yesterday I woke at a similar time and was done with all of my blogging duties by a little after 10:00 in the AM. Even though I still put in the same amount of time, psychologically, it felt great to be done so early because it felt like I had more hours to work.

Well, I'd say that this turned out to be yet another successful weekend. Not only did I successfully survive one more apocalyptic prophecy, I also managed to get a lot done in my efforts to rewrite my first novel, adding another twenty pages to the done pile. To add to this sense of accomplishment that I'm feeling, a little over four of these rewritten pages are made up of brand new content.
