Resolution #303: Make A Batch Of Homemade Dry Ice...

Date: 10-30-2014

Due Date: 10-30-2015

The Resolution: Ever year around Halloween I get the craving to play with dry ice. Last night I was searching for a place to purchase a batch when I saw a "How to make your own dry ice" article.

Apparently… all you need is a fire extinguisher and a bag!!!

I know, due to the expense of a carbon dioxide extinguisher, it would probably be cheaper to buy the finished product but where's the fun in that?

Result #303: Too Bad I'm Not A Thief… Because… If I Were… This Would Have Been An Easy Success Story…

Update #1: The Conclusion…

Date: 10-30-2015

When I lived in my apartment in Seattle, there was a little utility closet right outside my door. Inside this closet was a vacuum, a broom, and a fire extinguisher. Though this tiny closet had no connection with this extinguisher based resolution, I was always aware that an unlawful solution to my extinguisher needs within an arms reach of my front door.

I'm not sure if it's fortunate or unfortunate but I am not a thief.

Once as a kid I shoplifted a toy gun from an already open package that a much better thief had already made off with the featured action hero. It wasn't even a nickel's worth of merchandise but I was still scared to death that I would get caught. Even though I got away with the crime it was far from a victory and I never tried again.

So, the stealing of this fire extinguisher was never a real option but I can't help but think about it as I report this failure.

Someday I'll legitimately get my hands on a Co2 fire extinguisher and when I do, I will let you know how the homemade dry ice turns out.
