Operation Achieve Anything: Day Ninety-One, Dateline 4-1-2018

In Life as in Football
Fall Forward when you fall.
— Arthur Guiterman

Good afternoon Crickets!!! Welcome to day number ninety-one of Operation Achieve Anything. Not only is this day number ninety-one but today makes this the end of week number thirteen and the start of month number four. All this while today also marks day number six of eight of the Achieve Anything… books success versus failure themed collection of lessons. Since this is a Sunday, and I’ve already covered most of my views on the subject during days one through five, this is probably going to be a quick one, but then again, I never know until I get to the point where I am saying my goodbyes.

For yesterday’s assignment, I was supposed to reflect on the quote from Edison who said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” The book then wanted me to go through and share how I deal with failure and whether I give up or continue on. Spoiler alert, I’ve been a failed writer for over two decades now, so I’d say that I feel pretty persistent and constantly try to learn from my mistakes.

I think this is because, my two favorite quotes that I discovered either right before I started to write or, at least, very early on in my learning process inspired me to always continue on. The first quote being very similar to the opening quote from a few days ago that says, “It takes ten years to create an overnight success,” and the second being, “Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing enthusiasm.” These to quotes gave me an excuse to be both persistent and patient while I continued to hone my craft in hopes that one day it would all pay off.

I have to admit that when I was younger, I kind of sought out failure since I felt there was more material to be mined from the misery than instances where everything went well. As I grew older, I still found failure to be more interesting storywise but at the same time, minus any breaks to taste success, the constant loss really started to weigh down my spirits. That didn’t stop me though, I just continued to work on my project with the hopes that one of them would eventually hit so that all of my efforts will eventually pay off.

Right now, I feel pretty pot-committed to figuring this out even if it means failing right up to my dying breath, which I hope that my passing will inspire the people who have come and gone from my life to finally look into what I was doing and hopefully share what they like to help me leave my mark on this world since it’s not looking like I’ll ever have a kid to carry on my legacy. Sure this may be a bit dark, but this hope that my work could potentially provide an afterlife of sorts is what keeps me writing every single day.

As for today’s assignment, the book is still on the failure theme as I’m supposed to explore what it means to live by today’s quote and share what I think that it means to fail forward. Again, since I have a lot of experience with failure, I’ll have plenty to say on this subject. As always, you’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s update to read what I have to say. Until then, it’s now time to wrap this up by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
