One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day number eighty of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where yesterday I continued to work on my SEO tasks… but kept getting distracted by thoughts of redesigning this site from scratch… or at least reworking the Squarespace template that I use… as I grew bored with the SEO tasks… I started to tinker around…

At first… I was just adjusting design elements with the hopes to improve on the pages’ Lighthouse Review Scores... trying to break into the 90s… since I usually have high 80s all the way across the board… but it seems like when I get one score to improve…. the other scores end up dropping…

Then I found a different page speed testing app… that gave me an A the first time I ran it… only to end up with a D when running the test back to back… without making any changes… I then ran the test five or six times back to back and never got the same grade…

I then ran Lighthouse several times in a row… and even though the score shift wasn’t as extreme… I never got the same score twice in a row… which got me wondering if it’s even worth it to put that much effort into making changes based on these reports… and I’m also wondering how many of the changes that I’ve made using these tools are even worth the effort…

Then again… after each change… the higher range of the scores seems to improve.. so I’m going to consider the effort worth it… but the inconsistencies are still are annoying nonetheless… I can’t wait to be able to afford to hire someone to take care of all of this technical stuff so that I can just focus on the content… and I really hope that these marketing efforts that I’m making will make this fantasy of having an actual behind-the-scenes crew a reality…

Until then… my marketing effort for today are done… and with that let’s see how I handled the assignment from yesterday…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Spring Equinox Day… and to be honest… other than spending an equal amount of time on SEO marketing and this site’s design… I did nothing to celebrate the day… I did also plant a few lettuce seeds since Spring equates to gardening to me… I also spent time watering and looking over my other plants…

Aside from the gardening… I also tried to fit in a little Spring Cleaning… but only cleaned my desk… which isn’t enough to make a post out of… so… I figured that I’d group all of my efforts to at least give you this update…

With that… I’m going to consider yesterday’s task to be complete… and now it’s time to see what the book has in store for today…

The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Fragrance Day… which is a day that I at least have some old content to promote… to avoid winging it like I did today… hopefully… I’ll also get more rest this evening… and/or adjust to the new meds that I’m on… that make me feel level… but level seems to lead to uninspired thoughts… we’ll see when I check in again tomorrow…
