It's amazing how a good season of Saturday Night Live will lighten my overall mood. That's not to say that the show is the controlling factor in my ever-shifting temperament but ever since I started this SNL challenge, my day starts a lot smoother during solid seasons of the show.

Of course, the obvious reason for this is that it's nice to start the day by being entertained by one of your favorite shows but there is more to it than that. You see, when a season of Saturday Night Live falls into the just average to bad range, every episode from said season seems to suffer from the same exact issue where I can be slightly entertained but frustrated that I then have to struggle to come up with something to say that isn't as repetitive as the catchphrase from a reoccurring character.

Meanwhile, when a season is solid, I have no problem coming up with new ways to heap praise on the program, leaving me not only entertained but also excited to write in general. I've noticed that even these Daily Breaker posts seem more inspired during stand-out seasons and I write these first thing in the morning before the current day's episode could affect my mood in either direction.

In more interesting evidence, I started my to rewrite my novel back toward the end of season fourteen which I found to be highly entertaining and I hit the ground running, rewriting close to twenty-five pages over the first weekend of my efforts. Then started the so-so year that was season fifteen and, aside from the family event and out of the blue sickness, my productivity dropped to only a couple of pages a day if any at all.

Alright, so that's not a good example because there were other distractions involved but I have noticed that I'm back to being enthusiastic about my efforts when that just wasn't the case even when I wasn't sick or preoccupied with other activities. Either way, I'm in a great place at this moment and hope that it at least lasts until I finish this latest draft of my novel because I hope to get it to the point where I can share it with the public by New Year's Day.

With that, it's time to move on to start my SNL portion of the day before I move on and spend the rest of the night rewriting since Friday is the start to my weekend where, in general, I'm more productive since there are far fewer distractions than during the rest of the week.

As always, I'll check in tomorrow with another update, until then, I hope you have yourself a good day.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
