As excited as I am to be back on the ball in my efforts to rewrite my novel, I can't wait to be done with this draft. As I said in past posts, this rewrite is taking extra-long because there is an illustration element to the story that I'm working on so I have to constantly jump back and forth between Word and Photoshop throughout the writing process.

Even though the Photoshop aspect is pretty simple to where I mainly edit elements of a template to create the images that are peppered regularly through the story, the jumping back and forth between programs makes it very difficult to maintain a steady stride.

Half the time, while switching back and forth, I'll accidentally end up minimizing both the program I need to be productive only to find myself face to face with the internet. Sure I should just shut down my browser altogether in order to aide my efforts to focus but that just leads to more problems when I can't resist the urge to where I then have to wait twice the time to wait for the browser to start up.

I've come to grips with this and am fine because I also find that if I don't take my time, including these mini breaks, I end up writing first draft quality content where I'm simply racing to the finish line and polishing words instead of focusing on the flaws leading the manuscript to remain in the draft world needing yet another edition.

Once again, for those playing along at home, my goal is to finish this new draft within the next couple of weeks then take a quick break to refresh my eyes and then print, proofread, and write a polish draft by the end of the year. After that, I plan to make said polished draft available through this site.

This draft that I plan to make available will not be the final draft because the plan from there is to seek feedback, advice, and volunteers to help me get it to the point where it's locked. At that point, I plan to self-publish a hard draft while keeping a free downloadable version available on this site.

That's the plan at least and in order to get there, it's time to wrap up this task to move on to my Saturday Night Live review, fit in a nap then get some rewriting done. As always, I'll be sure to check in tomorrow with another update on my efforts or thoughts.

Talk to you then.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
