Operation Achieve Anything: Day Thirteen, Dateline 1-13-2018

Never worry about numbers. Help one person at a time, and always start with the person nearest to you.
— Mother Teresa

Welcome to the second Saturday of Operation Achieve Anything!!! So far, I'm beginning to find it interesting that a lot of these early assignments are aimed at accomplishing goals that I've already either contemplated and/or implemented in the process of developing this blog. I guess this makes sense considering I've been at this going on five years, so I must know a little something about how to achieve a thing or two. Now I just need to figure out how to achieve earning money for my efforts.

I'm guessing that part of the reason that I've already developed these habits came from the days when I used to listen to a lot of Self-Help audiobooks in an effort to aid with character development in my writing. I found that the self-help genre provides a wide range of character types by sharing negative traits through examples of “before” prototypes as well as the positive “after” traits  while including the steps from point A to B. In the process, these books also share established character arcs that are simple enough for even the lamest of layperson to see.

On top of the self-help connection, a lot of the assignments in the Achieve Anything... are common practices that are suggested to writers to create a writing ritual, which I've been doing for over twenty years. For example, yesterday's assignment was to start to journal which is pretty much the whole point of this blog.

I've been full on journaling through this Daily Breaker post, literally daily, for close to four years. Before I went public by posting these thoughts, I've been journaling using various other technics for most of my adult life, so I'm going to consider this assignment to be a success.

As far as today's assignment goes, it is yet another thought experiment that taps into something that I used to practice in the past. For this assignment, I'm supposed to think of ways that I can volunteer in order to help the community or someone in need without there being a promise of personal gains.

As always, I'll share more of my insights on this assigned task when I check in tomorrow with my daily progress report. Until then, it's now that time where I say, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
