Operation Achieve Anything: Day Ninety-Four, Dateline 4-4-2018

Never look down to test the ground before taking your next step; he who keeps his eye fixed on the far horizon will find the right road.
— Dag Hammarskjold

Hello, Crickets. Welcome to day number ninety-four of Operation Achieve Anything. Today is the eight and final day of the Achieve Anything... book's success and failure themed set of lessons that highlight how you can't have one without the other. I wish this were true because today has been so filled with failure that I should be a major success by tomorrow morning.

What really sucks is the fact that today started out on track to be one of the best days that I've had in a while. I awoke super early in a really good mood and started to work at a pace that would allow me to finish all of my blog work for both today and tomorrow and still have time to fit the maximum amount of work that I'm allowed from my current gig.

I got through my viewing of Saturday Night Live around the time that I usually roll out of bed but when I went to publish the post, I found that my internet was dead. This is a common problem in my house to before going in to reboot the modem, I decided to reboot my computer as well since I had recently received an iTunes update and had yet to restart my computer.

No big deal at this point. I simply resent the modem and router but by the time that I got back to my room, I found that my computer was frozen on the start screen with no spinning wheels to show any progress. This has been happening more and more often which leads me to believe that my computer is on its last legs.

I have a laptop but I hate working on it because the keyboard feel too cramped for my fat hands and the screen has horrible resolution. I used to use the thing a lot back when I worked in film and had to travel from time to time but now I barely use it at all. Because of this, the dumb thing would let do anything without updating all of my programs.

I was able to fit in a little work but all of the updating slowed down the system to the point where there was a lag that followed any click of the mouse or string of text that I tried to type out. Luckily, I was far enough along on my SNL review that this didn't end up taking too long but I needed to resolve all of the issues before I could move on because when I have computer issues on my mind, I struggle to focus on anything.

Now, I'm writing on my desktop computer that only starts in safe mode while my laptop is downloading a bootable file that should resolve my computer's startup issues, or at least that's what I keep telling myself. I wish I could just do a clean factory install to correct all of the issues that have developed over the year but, I don't like doing factory restarts because I never trust that I've backed up everything that I need. Plus, the thing was working fine just yesterday, at least fine for what I need.

I guess this is perfect timing because as angry as I've been all day, I've learned a lot from my many failed attempts to get everything back up to speed, which was literally the point of yesterday's assignment that focused on the quote failure teaches success.

Granted, I've yet to get to the success part yet, but I now know several new things about my computer as well as many technics to could potentially keep it running much better once I finally figure it out since I can't afford to fail right now and I need to get back to my equilibrium before I can get any sleep because there is absolutely no way that I can do this again tomorrow, without going out of my mind.

For today's assignment, I'm supposed to through caution to the wind and explore the idea presented in today's quote about always moving forward without ever looking down. By this, the book means that you miss so much in life when safety is your top concern since you are too busy looking at the ground to not step in gum instead of taking in the world around you.

I think you can figure out where I stand on going the safe route but you'll have to wait for tomorrow's update to see how I handle this task. Until then, it's time for me to get back to work on getting both of my machines up and running again. So, with that, it's now time to wrap this up by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects!!!

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
