365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day One-Hundred-Three 4/13/2021

One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day number one-hundred-three of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I’m finishing up my free 7-day trial of Paramount Plus by watching the finale of Big Brother Season One as I write… it’s taken me almost the full seven days to get through all 70 episodes of the show… what does this have to do with the challenge you ask???

Well… first… I’m sharing the free trial link which is technically a form of marketing… but the main reason viewing Big Brother fits is because rewatching the show 21 years after it originally aired reminds me that there are people out there who are entertained by the mundane… which is my favorite genre to work with…

I write for the person who’s stuck on the bus… with hours to fill on their commute… they may be tired of the news… or tired of hearing from an expert… and just want to read something fun… something from someone whose goal isn’t to make the reader feel stupid or wrong… something from a friend… which is the tone that I’m going for…

This was also the tone of Big Brother Season One… since the houseguests and audience were so into the idea of getting along… and not playing head games to create meaningless drama… the way that a modern season may run… showing me that there is room for content minus the over the top drama…

Granted… the show changed the very next year to liven things up… since the moneymakers weren’t happy with the results of the easy-going episodes… which highlights the fact that my genre of choice isn’t that marketable… but… I’m not looking to make life-changing profits… I just want a big enough slice of the pie to get by and keep doing what I’m doing… without the need of a schedule or a boss… and with my low expectations… I know this is an achievable goal…

And this concludes my introduction to the day… now let’s move on to see how I handled the theme from yesterday…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Licorice Day… which is a day that I’m not a fan of… ever since I was a little kid… and ate an entire box of Red Vines while at the movies… only to come home and throw up all over the lawn… making it one of those treats that I can no longer even smell without feeling the need to vomit…

Because of this… I opted to enjoy a couple of Twizzlers to celebrate the day… I know that this is blasphemy to any true licorice lovers out there… but… it’s the only thing that I could do… considering the fact that I’m feeling kind of queasy from the texture alone… if I were to include the taste… I’d probably hurl all over my room…

The Twizzlers that I ate…

And with that… I’m going to consider today’s theme taken care of… now let’s see what the book has in store for today…

The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Scrabble Day… which used to be my favorite game to play on my phone before I deleted my Facebook account… back when you needed one to play… I’ll have to track down a single-player version or something on my phone to celebrate the game and have something to report on when I check in tomorrow with my next update…

But for now… to wrap it all up… below are my statistics for the last seven days… now complete with speed stats…
