Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Forty-Five, Dateline 5-25-2018

I’m doing what I think I was put on this earth to do. And I’m really grateful to have something that I’m passionate about and that I think is profoundly important.
— Marian Wright Edelman

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number one-hundred-forty-five of Operation Achieve Anything. It’s a Friday and today I am going to try something new. Before I started this new day job I was starting to make a conscious effort to start going a bit easy on the weekends since I was burning myself out from doing the same exact thing seven days a week. Now that this job cuts into the time that used to spend working on personal projects, the weekends now seem like the perfect time to fully focus personal project fun. With that said, I need to figure out a new way to fit in a day for a break.

Today, I plan to use one of my backup SNL reviews to post in order to fulfill my one review a day goal. Rather than watch and review tomorrow’s episode in advance, I’m going to take the day off and get right to work on my day job. It’s early enough that I can meet my daily blogging obligation, jump right into the day job, and have everything that needs to be done around noon and then take the rest of the day off to do whatever the hell I want.

This weekend, I plan to stockpile as many backup reviews as I can in order to allow me the ability to go easy throughout the week if needed. Again, this is still a new schedule for me and I feel like I’m close to getting used to it but still need a bit more time to adjust. I can’t wait for my work to be done for today though, because I have a high potency edible that I really hope will knock out the final twinges of pain from my latest bout with sciatica.

In order to get there, I need to wrap this up, so let’s get to today’s assignment. This is going to be a quick one as the Achieve Anything… book still focused on the importance of finding my passion/purpose for being here. As a prolific failed writer for over twenty years, I don’t feel like I need to do much soul searching to figure out what I’m passionate about, especially since, other than not being able to afford to write, even more, I feel perfectly fine with my progress because I’m more interested in honing my skills while finding my voice than I’m interested in writing for fame or profit.

Hell, I’ve already come to grips with the fact that I probably won’t get any recognition until after I die when, hopefully, the people I love might finally check out my work in an effort to discover who I really was and then maybe find content worth sharing. That’s the dream at least, but either way, I’m already braced for the fact that my day may just never come while I’m living, and though it would be nice to have postmortem success, even that is just a fantasy to act as my carrot on a stick to keep me moving.

As for today’s assignment, the lesson has a new angle but the assignment for the day is to continue to search for my purpose/passion for the third or fourth day in a row. I don’t even know how I’m going to deal with this one, so, we’ll all have to wait for tomorrow’s post in order to see what I come up with. Until then, it’s time for me to sign off by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
