Am I alone in noticing that the weeks following my review where I admit to the fact that I'm in a rut, or climbing out of a rut, by the next review things seem to be running smoothly... well maybe not smoothly, but the ruts seems to clear up... at least a little and all it seems to take is announcing it to the world of my five weekly readers :)

Thanks to those that do follow this project.

It's interesting being this deep into the experiment, it's gotten to the point where I've forgotten my whole reason for doing this.

Alright enough about me, let’s get back to the breaking down of Southland Tales.

Way back in review 20… I read the first installment of the Southland Tales prequel graphic novels.

In review 31 I read the screenplay for the animated feature prequel of Southland Tales.

The screenplay is broken up into three sections and each section shares the title with the corresponding graphic novel.

This week I continue to compare and contrast the various Southland Tales timelines as I examine Fingerprints, the second installment of the Southland Tales prequels.

I have yet to reopen the script or peek into the 2nd graphic novel since the first time I read them back in review 21 when I first read this section of the graphic novel, and review 31 when I first read the entire prequel screenplay.

This week I’ll be concluding my comparing and contrasting of the various Southland Tales timelines as I examine The Mechanicals, the third installment of the Southland Tales prequels.

This week went so fast… too fast almost.

Minus the daily trip to the store to grab lunch, and avoid being a total shut-in, I don’t think I left the house. Since my last review… I just sat here writing at my computer.

I’m in the process of adapting five of my feature screenplays into one novel and using the NaNoWriMo event as my motivation/excuse…

It’s time for the second and final week of my journey into the Special Features area of the Southland Tales physical DVD as I explore the animated short entitled, “This is the Way the World Ends.”

Now if you will excuse me as I toke-up and queue up this nine-minute animated short.

I’m intrigued.

And I’m baked.

Ten weeks to go and I’m trying something new!

I usually have a podcast running in the background as I write my weekly review. Last week’s review's soundtrack was a show called How Did This Get Made, a podcast that breaks down some of the best worst movies out there.

Somewhere between review 23 and 25 in my three-part journey to find the link between Southland Tales and Sri Yantra, the mental patient host of this YouTube video mentioned a brief link between Southland Tales and The Wizard of Oz. I think this link had to portals of something.

Here’s what I wrote back then.

• And then Oz. I actually looked away and thought they were talking about the prison show, but no.

• Wizard of Oz!!! Are they going to link the fact that Dorothy escapes in a hot air balloon to the Treer Mega Zeppelin?

Holy shit! Is Southland Tales the retelling of the Wizard of Oz?

Sometimes poor planning actually pays off.

I mentioned a while back that I was working on a novel as part of this year's NaNoWriMo event. This is an event where you write a 50,000 word novel within the month of November. Well… it's now Christmas Eve and I am still working on it only I'm 110,000 words deep.

I've been so focused on writing lately that I've neglected almost every other aspect of my life, well every aspect other than my weekly Southland Tales reviews… that is….

It's New Year’s Eve, and as the clock strikes midnight thewickerbreaker.com website will officially become one year old!!!

I should also have this, my 46th review of Southland Tales, posted by the time any a-hole on this coast starts to count down that amazing moment where today becomes tomorrow and I forget to write a new number on any form that asks me to document what year it is.

YIPPEE!

It's week 47 only 5 more to go!!!

This week I conclude watching Southland Tales with my family and sharing their guest reviews so at 8:00 in the pm on Monday… January 6th I fired up the Cannes Cut of Southland Tales to see what my mom and two younger sisters thought about the differences.

Keep in mind that even though I've been doing this experiment for a year, these people have never heard of the movie and I continued to avoid sharing any information that I've found in my research to make sure everyone's opinion was their own.

Last night I got home from my trip to San Diego to visit my family for the holidays. I stayed a couple of weeks longer so that I would be in town for my mom’s wedding. It was an amazing trip and I had a lot of fun. I get to learn more and more about these people with every visit and you got to learn a little about them in the past to reviews.

Now I’m home and it’s back to work.

WOW!?!?

Not since my first viewing of Southland Tales have I ever been as confused by what I had just watched. Keep in mind the first time I watched Southland Tales I was so high I thought everyone was playing multiple characters. For this movie… I was just a little drunk and even after sleeping on it… I’m still not sure what I watched.

This week I discovered that if you watch Southland Tale with audio from The Clash's 3 disc album Sanidinista! you get The Clashland Tales a pairing that's even better than The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wizard of Oz.

Last week I discovered The Clashland Tales (The pairing of Southland Tales with the audio from The Clash's album Sandinista!) but didn't really get to enjoy it because I had to pause the movie every two minutes to note how these two projects fit together.

This week I was dog/house sitting and had just learned how to knit, as part of my new 365 Days of Resolution challenge. So, I decided to just chill with the dogs and knit as The Clashland Tales provided the entertainment for the night.

I fired up the pairing at 9:30 in the pm, just a couple of hours after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl on Sunday, February the 2nd.
