Resolution #74: Eat The Cuisine From As Many Countries As I Can...

Due Date: 3-15-2015
Resolution: My month of primarily living off of the survivalist bucket o' food is coming to an end. Meanwhile… because of my new job, I'm also getting close to having money to be able to afford to try new things. As these two events collide I'd like to start a new food challenge. That challenge being… to eat as many different types of ethnic foods that I can find.
Before moving to Seattle back in 1997 I was a bit of a picky eater. I feel that being from San Diego I felt so satisfied eating nothing be Carne Asada Burritos that I didn't feel the need to both with anything else. Being that the Mexican food in Seattle comes nowhere near the quality of Mexican food of my motherland, I had to venture out and explore new tastes.
Rather than go through and list all the types of food I've already tried, I'm going to reset my taste experience to zero. As I try the cuisine of a new country, I will color in said country on the map below and share what I ate along with what I thought about my meal.
Result #74: Not Only Did I Fail To Venture Out To Get Ethnic Food… I Also Failed To Note When I Actually Did…
Update #1: The Foods I've Tried (Ongoing)…

I'm counting my usual diet as American.

6-7-2014: Mexican - Tacos Arabes and Lengua Tacos - Hecho - Greenwood, WA
9-14-2014: Georgia's Greek Restaurant and Deli 232 NW 85th St. Seattle, WA 98117
Update: #2: The Conclusion…
Date: 3-15-2015
Granted I never expected to fill the map by eating cuisine from every country on Earth within the year, I did expect to try more than four ethnic meals.
Come to think of it, I did actually have more than the four dishes that I've featured above. I just didn't find any of the other dining destinations all that noteworthy. For example, I could have counted that grocery store sushi rolls as a taste from Japan, or the many slices of break room pizza could qualify as my Italian dish or the microwavable P.F. Chang's General Tso's Chicken as my Chinese food...
Looking back I should have counted these convenient Americanized versions of cultural cuisine just to fill the map. I was just trying to avoid any arguments of validity. It's not like I haven't had quality samplings from these countries in the past, before the reset.
Though I'm disappointed that I didn't take advantage of these technicalities, I'm more disappointed that I managed to go the whole year without trying an ethnic food that was brand new to me.
Luckily I plan to keep this blog going for a while and will have plenty of time to continue working at this resolution while exploring what the rest of the world eats.
