/Time for another quick garden update!!!
Up until a couple weeks ago, I've been adding a couple plants to my garden at a time. I would plant several seeds in individual seed starting planters to then transfer into the main garden when they seemed strong enough to survive.
This technique didn't work all that well because I only had enough extra space to start a handful of plants at a time, some would take and others would die and those that were transplanted suffered the same 50/50 chance of survival. To top it off, these low averages of success got me a bit discouraged.
Then after seeing my two-year-old nephew successfully start several seeds that I gave him by just throwing them in the ground and giving them water, I decided to follow suit and let nature do its thing. So, I threw all the seeds I own into the ground to see what happens.
It's now been two weeks and I'm starting to see some progress.
As you can see from the image, things are starting to take off. Some rows are more obvious than others when looking at the photo but when looking at the real garden with your own eyes you will see signs of life in every single row.
I'm not sure whether or not the will make it through the winter, I mean, I am in San Diego so I don't have to worry about snow, but I don't know how they will do with occasional morning chill. Whether this batch makes it or not, I now have a strategy for next spring when the seeding season traditionally begins.
As always, I will keep you posted on the progress and until that happens...
Talk to you tomorrow,
