/I woke up in a pretty good mood this morning. I had another night of great dreaming and was very excited to share my insights but once again lost them between waking and walking over to grab my morning energy drink. It's fine because I'm willing to bet it would be like... well... it would be like telling someone about a dream.
I need to stop thinking about sharing my dreams as content because it never really works out. First, I always seem to forget the key story beats that make the dreams interesting to me and second it's impossible to share the context that made the content interesting to me from the get-go. So maybe it's a good thing that dreams are designed to disappear into the ether upon waking.
This might be why I end up talking more about the frequency of my dream over delving into interpretations.
So, that's where I stand on that issue.
After waking, I went over to the computer to start my day. I went to start my day job but was distracted by my unfinished Blue Velvet app that I built for my cousin. I just had a few tweaks to make to complete the build so I decided to wrap it up which led to a great feeling of accomplishment before I even started my mandatory efforts.
Now I've completed a project, I finished my day job, and now all I have to do is hit the publish button for this post and the rest of the day is mine. I think I'm going to take the momentum from completing my cousin's app and get back to work on my personal project that I was distracted from.
I bought a bunch of index card to help me work through the overall layout of the app I am trying to design. I've been torn as functional I want the mockup to me. Do I want nothing but the layout or do I want the app to function as close to how I see the end product running as I can get it so people will understand it when I share?
My last conclusion was that I wanted the app to be as functional as I can make it to guarantee a working draft in the end but now I'm leaning toward preplanning the F out of this app. I think I'm going to work through the idea on the index cards for the first step. Then I am going to work through the layout and design in Photoshop to figure out the look and finish it off by interpreting everything that I've come up with into code.
As it is, ideas seem to be changing too often to keep up especially since I'm so new to the game. I just can't help but want to dig into my new bag of tricks and get down to the coding but instead I'm going to be patient and make sure that I do this right and not just right away.
Oh well, we'll see what happens and I will let you know what does.
Talk to you tomorrow,
