/It's day number eight of this year's NaNoWriMo and I'm proud to announce that I am officially caught up to the recommended pace after dipping due to taking a day off. My next goal is to keep up with this catch-up pace until I get to the point where I'm one day ahead of the target. This would help to ease some of the daily pressure over whether or not I'll meet my daily goal.
Yesterday, was a very productive day where I stayed focused and on task consistently enough to be able to complete my daily obligations early enough that I almost could have doubled down on my workload. I was half tempted to give it a shot but then opted to start smoking earlier than usual in order to celebrate getting caught up while also inducing an early end to the evening.
This early smoke session led to three days in a row where I was able to fall asleep before it technically became tomorrow. As the saying goes, early to bed, early to rise and I really can't believe that I'm becoming a morning person but with that said, I am still falling asleep when I want and waking without an alarm so this new morning routine has nothing to do with "The Man" which is the true reason I've always dreaded the early AM rat race.
When I used to write nothing but fiction, I just found it easier to write all night in the silence of the sleeping world. Now that I mainly write nonfiction for this blog, I don't feel I need as much of the midnight magic, allowing me to write whenever I want. With it being close to winter, the sun is working with me to where I get to experience the best of both worlds.
Now, I start each day by working on my blog. Though I've been blogging for several years, it hasn't been until this year that I loosely stick to a schedule rather than waiting to be struck by inspiration. Between this post and my SNL reviews, this takes up the first quarter of my day.
Once the blogging is done, I spend a couple hours either working task-based gigs or looking for other ways to make money. After that, it's nap time!!! Though I don't always actually fall asleep I give myself an hour to an hour and a half a day to just relax as my form of meditation while providing a split to my day.
When I wake, I move on to working on projects that have the potential to provide a future income. The current project is this NaNoWriMo novel that I could potentially sell someday. I started this new project the day after finishing the second draft of a novel I wrote a couple years ago. Before that, I was either building apps or spending this time on school.
I know this makes it sound like I've been on this consistent schedule for quite a while. Though this might be true as far as the order of my efforts goes when it comes to time management, my working schedule used to be all over the place but this never really bothered me since I always managed to get everything done on time.
I think part of me is still fighting any effort to commit to a specific schedule due to my rebellious youth but I'm starting to find that I really like it and that it gives a sense of professionalism toward how I spend my day which is boosting my pride, mood, and confidence in that I would happy to live out the rest of my life this way if only I could manage to draw in a better income.
We'll see what happens, but my overall confidence is growing more and more now that I'm selfishly focusing on Plan A instead of constantly wasting my time worried about back up plans for what to do if I never end up succeeding in making a livable income purely through my words.
With that, it's time to move on to the next part of my day and as always, I'll check in tomorrow with another update on my progress.
Talk to you then.
Sincerely,
The Wicker Breaker
