Dateline 12-20-2017

What was already going to be a tight schedule, just got even tighter. As I've been saying over the past couple of days, I'm growing to be a bit worried that I will not finish the latest draft of my novel in time to share it on the first of the year. The other night these concerns were eased a bit when I realized this draft isn't as time-consuming as it is more of a polish draft than a major rewrite. Then, yesterday afternoon, I got an offer to do some paid work.

As much as I would have loved to turn it down and say, "Screw you, I've got my own project to worry about," I'm so desperate for an income that I can't afford to turn down anything that offers an honest paycheck. The job in question is another task-based gig where I have to categorize Twitter images until a small group of us get through the queue of fifty thousand shots.

Though I would rather be doing my own thing, I really wish the task last long enough for me to fit in the maximum thirty hours a week that I am allowed. Unfortunately, this company works by using a first come first serve policy so I can't divvy up my allotted time to spread it throughout the week. Instead, if I want to max out my time, I have to work damn near twenty-four hours straight and even then the work often runs out before I get my hours.

Luckily, part of me keeps getting confused to where I keep mixing up my countdown to the end of the year with my countdown to Christmas Eve so that I keep thinking everything is due by the end of the week when in reality I have close to two.

It shouldn't be a problem either way, as I am now close enough to finishing that I know that if I need to, I can knuckle down, lock myself in my room, and knock out this draft within a couple days and even if I don't, sharing this draft of the novel is actually a part to a bigger project so if worst comes to worst, I can make finishing things up to be goal number one, which should have been the plan in the first place.

Oh well, we'll see what happens but for now, I really need to get things done. As always, I'll be sure to check in tomorrow with yet another update on my progress. Until then, it's now that time for me to say good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
