Dateline 3-26-2017

It's a sleepy Sunday on a week where I officially earned my keep so I'm going to celebrate by taking the rest of the day off as soon as I wrap up the few things I have to do to get caught up on my self-imposed blogging obligations.

I need this evening off to get over how disappointing it is to feel more proud of the fact that I fit in a 19 hour brainless work day that could literally be done by a child if only you didn't have to be over 18 in order to see the graphic images that I was getting paid to manually filter out of an image database, over the pride I feel in the endless hours I devote to my personal project only because these projects don't create a paycheck.

I even had to tap into my backlog of SNL reviews to free up the time to be a cog in a machine that I've been trying to escape ever since I enter the US workforce. Luckily, I still have one half-written review where all I have to do is transcribe my handwritten notes into the summary of the show's breakdown bringing my backlog back down to zero.

I'm fine with this because that's what the backlog is for, I'm just a little bummed by how quickly I tap into this buffer zone meant to reduce the pressures of having a daily deadline. I think today, rather than starting to rebuild right away, I'm going to finish the above mentioned reviewed then take the rest of the day off and get back to building the safety net as I hit it hard tomorrow.
