/Yesterday ended up being a pretty good day of decompression after two days of a house full of children. Though I had a blast helping watch my two nieces along the nephew who lives with me, it's nice to get a break from kids screaming in my ear as to make demands on how we play. I get the screaming twice as bad because I'm the adult in the house who plays while the other adults deal with the responsible side of sitting.
It also helped that our internet in now working correctly following a visit from a technician who gave us a lie as well as a new modem. When he first walked in the house and looked at the modem he was shocked by how old it was. Meanwhile, this was the modem that the last technician swapped out just a little over a year ago, the last time we had this issue.
After swapping out the modem he left before getting a proper speed reading but the internet was running again so who were we to second-guess the expert. It only took about a half an hour after he left before the internet went to shit again.
Eventually, my sister's fiance, who has the password to the router, got home from work and looked into updating the firmware. Once that was done, the real problem was resolved and it was nothing that was even suggested by the technician, but it doesn't really matter anymore because everything seems to be working out fine and we now have potential solutions for future problems.
The calm following the fun storm of family and the frustrating storm of technology was a super nice change of pace that I needed. Not only was the break nice, but I'm also in a texting relationship that has been building which is also helping to keep me in a better mood, as I now have someone in San Diego other than family to talk to that I'll be meeting up with sometime next week.
That's all I'm going to say on that last subject at this point as it's too soon to say what's going on but if it does get to a point where I have something to share, I'll be sure to keep you posted on the progress.
Until then, it's work as usual so I'll check in tomorrow for a report on my lazy weekend days.
Talk to you then,
The Wicker Breaker
