It amazing how easily technology can ruin your day even when it is working the way it's supposed to. Normally, I'm only angry with our advancements in the world when I do the same thing that I do every day only to get a different result due to an update or some sort of internal failure.

First off, I'm currently at my sister's house for a mini three-day "vacation" with my nephew, who I live with and the keyboard and computer set up is different enough from my to the point where it is a little frustrating but I'd say this is more of an inconvenience that I am getting used to and not really what I am talking about.

Last night, I was having fun with the fam and went all day without any cellphone distractions. No check in from my mom or the kids, which is completely normal because even though I live at home, I am not on a leash in any way so am allowed to come and go as I please as if I am living with roommates and is the main reason I don't mind the move back while I attempt to straighten out my life.

So, the end of the night comes and I turn off my phone to "enjoy" Sharknado 3 which has somehow become my family's favorite movie series. About fifteen minutes into the movie, my brother-in-law pauses the "film" and say, "You have to call your mom." My sister then looked at her phone and said, "Yep, she called me too."

I look at my phone to see two missed call and a couple of text where the summary simply reads, "MATT," making me think this must be some sort of emergency especially since I'm very open about my anxiety when it comes to actually talking on the phone, and the fact that, as I said, I'm here with my nephew.

So, I rush to the other room to see what's going on, only to get a joking voice playfully reprimanding me for not answering my phone even after explaining we were in the middle of a movie. When I realized that this was more of a frivolous call I replied with a snappy tone which then turned me into the bad guy.

It turned out that my mom get a text that I sent at noon about how RuPaul and his drag queens are coming to town and since I introduced her to the show she wanted to see if I was interested in going. This made me feel even worse because I ruined the excitement of her offer and I know she just wanted to buy tickets before they sold out but the event doesn't happen until October.

I then spent the rest of the night stuck in my head, disappointed that I did seem appreciative about this offer that was supposed to be fun because the urgency involved sent me into a panic because I'm used to being left alone and don't often get these types of calls out of the blue which might be why I get extra anxious whenever it does actually happen.

Oh well, it's over now I'm back to having fun with the fam and with be seeing a bunch of drag queens in a couple of month with my mom and sister which should be a surreal situation that I'm sure will lead to a pretty fun post to write about.

Alright, time to wrap this up and get away from the computer and play.

Talk to you tomorrow.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
