You know how yesterday I said that I was aiming for a slacker Saturday? Well, that didn't last all that long. As a matter of fact, it was only minutes after I published my post that I started the layout process for my reviews for future seasons of SNL since I was, at the time, one full season and a half ahead of the game.

I decided to split the prep work into three phases. Phase One, probably being the most monotonous, was to create each page with placeholder images, text, as well as the episode number up in the title to make sure that I have a page for every single episode.

In Phase Two, I plan to copy, paste and reformat the host's name and appearance date to round out the rest of the title. This is going to be just as monotonous as Phase One only it will go much quicker because there is less involved and it will also be fun to see all the names involved in upcoming shows while trying to guess what they are promoting.

Phase Three is going to be another fun one where I will go to the video to screen capture the host for during their opening monolog and final host photo that traditionally marks the end of the show to fill in the image placeholders that I don't need to watch the entire episode to determine with images I need. The only thing that sucks about this phase is that I also have to actually create a new header image with the date crossed off for each and every episode.

Finally, Phase Four will be the toughest one as it requires the most work. This is the phase with I use my reference site to create the initial breakdown that just lists the titles of every sketch in the episode for me to fill in the summary when I actually watch the episode. This one is just rough because there is a lot of reformatting involved.

Getting all of this done in advance will probably end up saving me over two hours each day. Not really that it takes me that long to do all of this work but it does take time while creating procrastination processes that I drag my feet to get to. With all of this done in advance, I will be able to simply sit down view an episode, and write a review without already feeling burnt out from the process.

Last night, I completed Phase One which was far from my goal for the day but I am very excited to be done with it allowing to see the progress of my efforts and the finish line to when it will be over making it much easier to envision this as a successful challenge.

Today, I plan to finish Phase Two to then start Phase Three tomorrow, which will definitely take a few days but I'm going to stay vigilant because having all this prep work done in advance will make me a very happy camper.

Oh well, we'll see where I get and of course, I'll let you know where that is tomorrow.

Talk to you then,

The Wicker Breaker
