Operation Achieve Anything: Day Twenty-Seven, Dateline 1-27-2018
/Good morning Crickets, I’m back again for another update to keep you posted on my Operation Achieve Anything progress. Being that it’s the weekend and I want to take it easy today, this is going to be a quick one where I just right into sharing my assignment progress instead of building up to it with my morning ramblings. With that said, here we go…
Yesterday’s assignment was thought based without a real call to action, which should help keep this as a pretty quick update. The assignment was to keep the quote, “Face the worst. Believe the best. Do the Most. Leave the rest,” in mind whenever feel that I’m stuck in life.
I like this piece of advice and have always used a similar technic back when I used to work at copy centers. I worked the graveyard shift at a local Kinko’s where I had the store to myself to work on the bigger print jobs. Since the day crew had customers with constant needs, they rarely had time to focus on jobs that required a lot of attention, so most of this work was left for me.
I always wanted to get through the tough jobs right away while I was still wide awake and had the energy to run around like a mental patient. This would account for the “Face the worst,” portion of the quote. As for, “Believe the best,” I guess that could be in reference to working on the hard stuff first with the optimism that my day would only become easier, as the motivation to keep me going.
Next, we have, “Do the most.” Since I had the entire store to myself with every printer available to me, I would also find super easy jobs to that I could run alongside the big ones. I would have four or five machines going at the same time, and I was constantly moving. This allowed me to “Leave the rest,” and not worry about what I didn’t manage to get to since I could always justify my efforts.
Nobody taught me this strategy, it just kind of came naturally to me, but I’ve since carried it over to other aspects of my life. In general, I always tackle, “the worst,” stuff first in order to avoid the extra pressure. I often struggle with, “believing the best,” but, deep down, I’d say that I’m unrealistically optimistic. I might not, “do the most,” when it comes to chores and whatnot, but I’ve always been prolific when it comes to chasing my dreams. As for, “leaving the rest,” I might be too good at this since I really don’t sweat the small things.
Well, that turned out to be more involved than I was expecting. That’s fine though; I feel better about what I just shared above than what I initially had planned in my head. As for today’s assignment, it’s focus is to get me thinking about creating opportunities as opposed to waiting for things to come to me, like creating an at-home workout routine instead of waiting until I can afford to hire a trainer.
The actual task is to write down three ways in which I can create my own opportunities and then take one and put it into action by the end of the week. As usual, I’ll be working on this throughout the day and will share my results when I check in with tomorrow’s update. Until then, it’s that time where I say, good luck to you and all of your projects.
Talk to you soon.
Sincerely,
The Wicker Breaker
