Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Three, Dateline 4-13-2018
/Good morning Crickets, and welcome to day number one-hundred-three of Operation Achieve Anything. First off, I’d like to apologize, or at least acknowledge the new advertisements that I’ve added to the site. I guess I’m not all that apologetic for adding them but, due to the way that I set it up, Google Adsense places that ads where ever it feels they are the best fit which sometimes can create a bit of an eyesore. Since this is an automated service where I simply cut and paste one code to create a site-wide style, it’s going to take me a little while to figure out how to customize the layout.
On a positive note, these ads are already paying off, or at least the analytics tool is estimating that I’ve been making a few bucks a day. Granted, this is nowhere close to putting me in a place where I can live off of my writing, it is a major step toward my ultimate goal to do so. I just wish that I could credit the Achieve Anything… book for this achievement. Then again, maybe I can but it would be a very round-about journey to do so.
The problem with the book is that we are now one-hundred-three days in and it’s still fully focused on the self-help aspect to get me to a place where I can handle all the success that will come. Since there’s yet to be any advice like, set a schedule and stick to it or try to contact at least five people a day until you have the support team that you need to help you through your project, or even to narrow my list down to the achievement that I hope to complete with the help of this book.
Hell, right now, the book is using a kid’s quote of the day motif as an excuse to go back and revisit assignments that have already been done. Since this kid theme started a couple of days ago, I feel like I’m only going through the motions to complete each task since, as I’ve said in the past, I’ve been self-helped out for quite a while after a couple of years where I studied self-help books in an effort to improve my ability to create characters all with different goals, since these books can offer examples of write and wrong thinking on almost any topic you can think of, while at the same time I was hoping to fix a thing or two of my own in the process.
So even though you could say that these assignments are only repeated once or twice to allow the information to sink in, it feels too much like filler considering the fact that the author never points out why I may be feeling a sense of déjà vu by simply explaining the reason for the repeat. This sort of makes me feel like they are trying to pull one over on me which then leads me to drag my feet and find flaws, instead of happily playing along like I do when the assignment feels fresh.
For yesterday’s assignment, I was supposed to meditate on a young Kate’s quote, “It’s okay to fail, but it’s not okay to give up,” which led to pretty much the same exact lesson the was centered around the Edison quote, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that don’t work,” which was already a repetitive assignment from back when the book was focused on how handling failure is one of the most important keys to success.
I’ve already made it clear, that as a wannabe writer for over twenty years, I’ve learned to live with failure over a decade ago. Not only that but as a depressed story collector, there have been times in my life where failure was my desired results since tales of things gone wrong are always way better than any success story. This is a bit abridged because I’ve already covered this with more details back when the topic was originally brought up. So with that, I’m going to consider this assignment a success and move on.
Today’s assignment is a repeat of a task that took place back when the book was focused on treating others like humans in order to win them over to your team as the quote of the day is about how giving compliments is even better than receiving them. As for the task, I’m not only supposed to try to compliment more but I’m also supposed to think about how often I compliment others and how it makes me feel to both give and receive kind words.
With that, here’s a bit of a backhanded compliment for the book since I did say that was a round-about way that the book is helping me to achieve my goal. Even though I feel the book is too focused on self-help over focusing on the actual goals, it does have me in a constant mindset to where I am always looking for new opportunities in hopes that I can find a way to crowbar sharing my experience into fulfilling a task which has actually led to quite a bit of progress, like the ad you now see down below.
As for the rest of today’s assignment, you’ll have to wait for tomorrow’s post to see how it officially turns out. Until then, it’s now time for me to wrap this thing up by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.
Talk to you soon.
Sincerely,
The Wicker Breaker
