Operation Achieve Anything: Day Two-Hundred-Five, Dateline 7-24-2018

The cure for boredom is curiosity. There is no cure for curiosity.
— Ellen Parr

Good morning crickets. Welcome to day number two-hundred-five of Operation Achieve Anything. It feels so nice to finally be back to a place where I can sit and get around to the point where I now have options for how I would like to get through my day. Since I started to experiment with working a graveyard schedule to cope with my slow, bedridden, lying on belly typing, I can now opt to either blog after midnight at the technical start of a new day, or put it off until the morning.

Though I needed that split when I was in pain to compensate for how long it took me to get through my daily tasks while typing on my elbows, now that I’m sitting and back to typing with ease, I’m back to not dreading my deadline. This means, if I do put things off until the morning, it’s not really a procrastination thing but a choice. Like how I kind of wanted to write this post last night so that I could just wake and go with my day job to get it over with. Then, by the time the clock struck midnight, I was so burnt out from watching and reviewing three episodes of SNL, in my effort to get ahead, that I instead decided to call it an early night.

I could’ve stayed up later and work myself to the point where I would’ve crashed from exhaustion, but that would just mean that I’d be sleeping in during the morning. Instead, I opted to go to bed when I did, wake early and here we are. I’ll be finishing this post and starting the day job even earlier than if I would have chosen last night’s attempt at a head start. The best part is, now that I’m healed, either way, I’ll be finishing my day way before my deadline.

As I just pointed out, I’m also starting to stockpile SNL reviews again, which also really helps to lower my levels of stress. Right now, I’m two days ahead which means that I can watch the next show morning, night, or tomorrow and will still be ahead of the game no matter what my choice may be. All of this flexibility makes life so much easier to manage that I wonder if creating options will be a lesson in the Achieve Anything… book.

Speaking of the book, let’s get into today’s assignments. Yesterday, I was supposed to think of people throughout history who were fueled by curiosity which led to their success. Since I’m already fully on board with the whole idea that curiosity is one of the keys to learning and growth, I wasn’t all that inspired by this topic considering the fact that I already have it nailed down. It would be like asking me 1+1 when I’m already aware of math.

That’s not to say that I didn’t think about it, or disagree with the book, it just kind of slip my mind, due to my level of comfort,  until I too little time to give this assignment the time that it deserves. In general, I’d say that I’m inspired by any inventor whose curiosity led them to develop magical things out of either personal interest or in an effort to change the world, without really thinking about profit.

I think Nikola Tesla is my favorite when it comes to this, at least the romanticized tale of his existence that I have in my mind, where he could have been a billionaire if his intent was greed, but died penniless in his efforts to change the world that the greedy then attempted to bury away. It’s really nice how that shitty rock band from the ‘80s and Elon Musk have help to bring the name back to the public eye because I knew nothing of the man until I was in my mid-twenties.

Hm… I guess that paragraph there just fulfilled the assignment more than I thought, so let move on to the task for today where I’m just supposed to allow my curiosity take control and see where that leads me. I’m sure that just means weird YouTube videos, but as always, I’ll be sure to let you know how things turn out when I check in with tomorrow’s update. Until then, it’s now time for me to wrap this thing up by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.

Talk to you soon.

Sincerely,

The Wicker Breaker
