Operation Achieve Anything: Day One-Hundred-Ninety, Dateline 7-9-2018
/Good morning Crickets. Welcome to day number one-hundred-ninety of Operation Achieve Anything. Yesterday's experiment in taking a day off was a complete success as far as yesterday goes but now I'm stuck with the consequences of only committing to half of the entire plan. Where I was successful in avoiding work, up to, and including personal projects, I failed to start today's workload at midnight which was the second half of the plan.
The idea was that since I am still bedridden with sciatica, I'd switch to a graveyard schedule to, one, escape the heat, and, two, to finish my work for the day without running right up to the last minute of my deadline which has been the case ever since I started to work while lying on my stomach in an effort to ease the sciatic pain. Though the position I 'm in while I type does ease the pain quite a bit, it really does slow down the typing process to the point where it almost takes double the time to complete my work, especially when I add in the breaks to ease the new pains in my elbows and shoulders.
That said, the main reason for yesterday's break was that it was Sunday, so, I didn't have a day job and it's literally been years since I've taken a break from this blog. As I said in yesterday's post that I wrote after midnight but before I fell asleep, I may go easier on the weekends but I have no idea when I've allowed myself to do absolutely nothing at all, and it super nice. So nice that when midnight came and I was supposed to start today's work I kept giving in and putting it off. At the same time, really throwing a monkey wrench in my sleep schedule to where here I am writing this Daily Breaker post at a time when I would be wrapping my whole day up before I started to work from bed.
On a side note, since I was bedridden and exhausted, I almost avoided technology altogether unless it was to entertain me while I slept, meaning I started a long YouTube playlist and listened to a podcast or two, but I avoided the news like the plague and didn't look at social media at all. This kind of plays into yesterday's assignment where, once again, the Achieve Anything... book's continued focus was on technology and the difference between information and knowledge and how the two are connected but not the same.
Once again, I really get what the book is saying because normally, I listen to news from a wide range of sources even the people who I don't believe are telling the truth. Many people seem to think that this is a bad approach and that you should not give any attention to that which you don't believe but I feel that listening to everything is important because it allows you to see the motives of those with whom you do disagree. Like how, as an Atheist, I could just write off religion and live blissfully blind to their belief or I could try to see where they're coming from to avoid any traps during discussions or to have a well thought alternative interpretation while trying to get others to see the world you see.
Either way, I feel like information overload is a real problem that I really suffer from time to time because the broader your scope gets the more that it feels that everyone is full of lies and it's not the information that's the problem, but the belief in good guys and bad guys. Keep in mind that every bad guy is a good guy in their own minds. So I don't know if looking at the world as if information is a weapon is the right way to go and we should take it in from anywhere, only not to believe outright but to be more aware of the millions of beliefs that are affecting our world.
This also plays into today's assignment that doesn't really have a task but instead just goes on to solidify the fact the information and knowledge are not equal and how modern technology may be giving us more information but that's not necessarily a good thing. Of course, I'll delve into this deeper when I check in with tomorrow's update that I hope won't be as scattered since I'll either be working from my desk or switching to a graveyard schedule that would allow me more time to think as well as spend more time to double check my work before I post it. Until then it's now time for me to sign off as usual by saying, good day and good luck to you and all of your projects.
Talk to you soon.
Sincerely,
The Wicker Breaker
