365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day One-Hundred-Six 4/16/2021
/One Creative Introvert’s Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…
Welcome to day number one-hundred-six of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where yesterday was another big day as far as this site’s traffic goes… and I hit a new high when compared to the past several months… unfortunately… this regain of traffic isn’t showing in the revenue… but at least it’s a start…
Below are most of the lifetime stats for The Wicker Breaker…
I actually started this site on December 31, 2012… but apparently… Squarespace’s analytics only go back to 2013… so I didn’t go from 0 to 2000 my very first month… actually… around that time… my traffic was dropping because that’s when I lost a lot of friends who followed my work… after I decided to stop working in film and television…
The lower/flat months/years are from when I lost… the climb began when I started the My Saturday Night Life challenge… back when I got over the heartbreak of leaving Seattle… back when I stopped fantasizing about making it as a screenwriter… and started to treat this blog more like a job and not just a frivolous hobby…
The climb from 2017 to 2019 may also be due to the fact that I was working on three daily challenges at once… My Saturday Night Life… Operation Achieve Anything… and The Daily Breaker … which led to blogging burnout… and that first traffic drop of December 2019… after that… all of the traffic’s been purely organic… because I went on a two-year break…
I don’t know why there was the dropoff in June of 2020… but I do know that the boost in traffic around October of 2020 is from when I started to add SEO… the BIG drop off in December is from when I screwed myself by shortening all of the URLs before learning all of the steps to do so… but… I’m happy to see that the traffic’s been back on a climb ever since…
I just can’t wait for the revenue stats to start reaping the benefits…
Until then… this concludes my introduction to the day… now let’s move on to see how I handled the theme from yesterday…
According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Income Tax Pay Day… and I have nothing to say about my taxes from this year… but I do have a story to share… about back when I was in elementary school… and still needed to find a Christmas gift for my dad…
One day… while unsupervised at the local 7-11… that used to have a mini arcade… I had to wait my turn… so… I ventured over to the magazine rack… which I’m sure annoyed the cashier at the time… having to babysit all of us kids… but… I found what looked like a magazine to me that promised to maximize your tax returns…
Knowing that my dad loves a good money-making scheme… I bought the magazine… and then used the rest of my money for gifts on candy… little did I know… this magazine that I bought as a gift… was just a book filled with tax forms… my family still gives me crap to this day about this gifting decision…
And with that… I’m going to consider today’s theme taken care of… now let’s see what the book has in store for today…
The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Wear Your Pajamas Day… and I’ve already beaten the book to the punch… sinch every day is pajama day when you work from home… that said… I’ll still have to come up with something to actually write about… so… I can’t wait to see what I end up posting about wearing cut-off… flannel… plaid pants…
But for now… to wrap it all up… below are my statistics for the last seven days… now complete with speed stats…
