365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Fifteen - 1/15/2021
/One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…
Welcome to day fifteen of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… as much as I would love to move on from complaining about the technical issues going on right now… these issues only arose after adding marketing tools to my site… and since this is a marketing challenge… my efforts to resolve the problem actually fall into this project’s scope of topics worth talking about…
Now that it’s been over a month and a half of three support teams all claiming things look fine on their end… no matter how much evidence that I show that things worked correctly just a short time ago… keep in mind… I’m still a fan of all of the actual services that are involved… or else I’d just drop them… it’s more the lack of interaction between the support teams that has me annoyed… but at the same time… I get it because I guess they’re all in competition some how…
I think it all started when a verification code was regenerated after I renewed my domain… it seems this verification code would update on its own when my domain name was still controlled by GoDaddy… because their a big enough name in the domain game there service is supported by SquareSpace… the only problem is… CloudFlare now holds the control of my domain name… and though these two services play along well when properly configured… neither support team will do more than cut and paste posts from the other service with suggestions that just don’t work…
The Ezoic support team has been the best… answering my questions quickly the best that they can… but they are the end of the line of my convoluted connection to this website… and usually need information from one of the other services before they can do anything on my end… I’m sure that I’ve created more problems with my trial and error approach… but what am I supposed to do when none of the suggestions led to a solution???
This morning… when I woke to find that my page was completely down again… I said screw it… and now my site only goes through GoDaddy and SquareSpace… as soon as they seem to start working like normal again… I will then start to reimplement these other services… because I liked how they danced together before the connection was broke…
This means that I have to wait a few days to make sure the fresh start is actually correcting the problem… and then when I bring a new service in… I’ll have to wait a few days again… I see this taking at least a week with no guarantees that it will lead to any change… but… it is is forcing me to take a bit of a break until the reset is complete… since I can’t do any of the behind-the-scenes work until everything’s working like it used to again…
Until then… let’s dig into today’s assignment…
Thankfully… according to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… this is Hunt For Happiness Week… it’s also Get To Know Your Customers Day… but since I write for an audience of no one… I figured I’d hunt for happiness instead… especially since this week will be filled with a lot of waiting before I can really get back into the game…
To add to the fun… I’m almost done with all of the 301 Redirects that all the support teams initially blamed my traffic tracking inconsistencies on… but… and I corrected these Redirect issues… my traffic stats went back to normal according to some analytics while remaining low through the important/monetization services use… this will free up a ton of time… so that I can focus more on the posts for the site… and play more when I’m not writing…
That said… before I can play… I’ll first have to clean my room and start getting my life back in order now that the twelve hours a day of making SEO changes are almost over as well… so this week will also be a good week to hunt down happiness… because… as soon as everything back up and running again… I have more behind the scenes plans that will fill most of the free time that I have…
I’ll be sure to tell you what my happiness hunt drums up… when I check in with tomorrow’s update…
