365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Seventeen - 1/17/2021

One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day seventeen of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… it’s been 36 hours since I started from scratch by disconnecting all of the third party marketing tools from my site… and my traffic and revenue numbers are already going back to normal… a normal that technical support from multiple services kept telling me didn’t exist no matter what evidence I showed them…

Again… I have no issues with any of the actual products/services involved… there was just a technical glitch that… thanks to the convoluted maze of how these apps communicate… made troubleshooting confusing… especially since all services involve barely acknowledge issues involving third-party software… but it would have been nice if… at least one person from technical support would have pointed me in the correct area to look into on my own… over just denying that the issue is on their end…

This reset clearly shows that a problem existed… because after just a few hours… my traffic was back to what I was used to… and I was back to making closer to three bucks a day and not the thirty cents a day average that I started to make ever since I started to report the issue close to two months ago… when I thought I did something to cause the issue…

Now I know that the problem started with a DNS entry that needed to update back when I renewed my domain… this entry used to auto-populate on its own back when I wasn’t interested in marketing and my configuration was simple… which again is the only reason that I’m including this gripe as part of this marketing challenge…

Now that the problem is close to being resolved… I hope to no longer talk about this problem… I know I said that before in the past when I thought I had a fix… but this time the fix is positively affecting my income… and now I’m excited to reimplement these services that I started a few months before this challenge… because they were all working very well before this invalid DNS entry started to mess everything up…

Who knows… maybe this is a blessing in disguise… especially if it ends up providing better before and after proof of how well these services work… and we get to see the numbers climb in real-time as I work the marketing tools that I use back in versus the revenue that I make from Google Adsense alone… keep in mind that my first goal is just to make five dollars a day… to no longer have to waste hours a day finding gig work that’s not always there now that there’s more competition from the pandemic people who are stealing all of the old school shut-in’s work…

Now that I know that I can at least earn what I used to… I can relax about the technical aspect of the site and fully focus on finding fun things to say while fulfilling each assignment for the day… and stop all this lame complaining…

Until then… let’s dig into today’s assignment…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… today is Chili Day… the book wasn’t too specific as to whether they were talking about chili and in the bean and meat dish… or chili in the form of a pepper… so I said screw it… and ordered supplies for a Frito Pie using chunky chili… and also bought a few hot pepper products to try… from Amazon Fresh… my new favorite shut-in’s shopping service!!!

I have mixed feelings about Amazon taking over the world… but I used to work there when they just sold books… so I can’t help but be impressed by some of these services… especially for someone without a car who moved from a metropolis with everything needed within walking distance… to a city with a suburban spread that makes it impossible to get by without a car…

Without them… I wouldn’t be able to get these products in time for this challenge… since my potential ride to the physical store is out of town for the weekend… and my leg is too weak to walk the miles it would take to get to the nearest grocery store…

Alright… the supplies are in… it’s a bit later than I was hoping… but it’s still Chili Day… and I still need to fulfill today’s assignment…

First… I plan to eat the Ghost Pepper Monterey Jack Cheese with some crackers and melted on toast while I perform mise en place for the next set of hors d’oevres…

The original plan was to get this stuff early and have the treats throughout the day… but there was a problem with my order… making this a rushed evening project… but that’s fine… I now plan to just share the game plan for this Chili Day experiment…

I’m sure I’ll end up sharing what happens as far as the heat goes… in my Daily Breaker post that will end my day… I’ll then share the behind-the-scenes fun to start off tomorrow’s 365 Days Of Marketing And Me post with the hopes that having this a starting topic will knock me out of technical issue start to each post that I’ve fallen into…

I swear this project was meant to be more fun than it’s been so far… but… I’m also still a little rusty from taking two years off from writing anything other than code… because my fictional work was literally driving me insane…

Next… the mise en place will be chopping up the jalapeno and habanero peppers that I plan to mix in with the flavored cream cheeses… along with some dill… basil… and green onions that I just harvested from my garden… this is not a recipe for a dip… this is just mixing a few things together to see if it tastes any good…

I may do this from here on out… starting every 365 Days Of Marketing And Me post by finishing the prior day’s assignment… that way… I’ll then end each post introducing what I plan to work on for the day… that way… I won’t feel as rushed and only technically fulfill each task… since I typically have hours left in my day that could be better used working on the assignment for the day… especially now that time is freeing up from all of the SEO work that I put into this site leading up to this new project… that I’m just now wrapping up!!!

Finally… I’ll cook up the chunky chili… to then dump on the Fritos… then top that all off with the shredded cheddar cheese and random leftover mise en place pieces… and call it a Frito Pie…

I have no plans to eat all of this tonight… but I will at least taste everything… and then finish it off tomorrow… while I’m writing my next post… I look forward to sharing how this all goes down… and now… it’s time to cook!!!
