365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Twenty - 1/20/2021

One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day twenty of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I’m presently sitting here typing while enjoying leftover treats from yesterday’s Popcorn Day festivities… for those of you not playing along at home… each day… the 365 Days Of Marketing book shares an annual celebratory day for the reader to work into their marketing plan for the day…

Yesterday… I ran with the popcorn theme by choosing two products that use marketing techniques that will get me every time… first… I bought some “New Product” popcorn from Cheetos… since I always like to… at least try… new product from established brands that I don’t mind… and figured I could trust Cheetos to add almost an offensive amount of cheese power to their popped corn… I also bought some Red Mill kernels… because I always fall for high-end versions of treats that one typically thinks of as low class…

I have to say that I was actually surprised by both popcorn options… first… the Cheetos brand corn caught me off guard because they actually didn’t go as heavy-handed with the cheese flavoring as I expected… in fact… I would say that the cheese flavoring was lighter than what you get from one of those gigantic three-flavor popcorn tins that you might expect as a lame gift around Christmas…

Next… I was a little surprised that… though good… the Red Mill brand wasn’t all that impressive when compared to other popcorn brands that start out in kernel form… that’s not really saying all that much… because freshly popped corn is always ten times better than popcorn that you get from a sealed bag… I would say that the Red Mill kernels were above average… but they didn’t blow me away…

This could also be due to the fact that… the Red Mill kernels weren’t as easy to pop as I thought they would be… for my first attempt… I tried to make a batch in my instant pot… trying to use cannabutter as my oil… but… I think I used too much butter… drowning the early popped corns and burning the butter before the full batch could explode…

Thankfully… the cannabutter was made from spent weed from my new Arizer Extreme Q with remote control… so it wasn’t that big of a deal that the butter and kernels went to waste… since the kernels may seem high end but it was a good-sized bag that cost me under four bucks… I also tried to pop more kernels in my air fryer… but again… all that I got was a couple of kernels to pop… I’m sure that both techniques work when done correctly… but I didn’t try hard enough to figure it out…

Instead… I went inside the house to use the kitchen… since I don’t have a stove out in my place… using the stove’s burners… I was able to pop the perfect batch that I’m still enjoying as I finish up this summary of yesterday’s Popcorn Day festivities…

And with that… It’s now time to dig into what’s in store for today…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… today it Disc Jockey Day… to honor the day… here is a playlist of songs that I created for my IsIt420ornot.com project… where I’ve started to build a website based on the 420 theme… and plan to create 420 playlist entries on YouTube… each with a different theme… and each with 420 playlist entries… I started to work on this project during my two year sabbatical from writing… when I started to experiment with more visual forms of art…

At the time I created this specific playlist… I was trying to tell a story based on the order of the songs… I’m still fine-tuning the order for a better narrative… but that’s going to have to wait until I get to the point where I’m earning enough to support myself… since I was working on the 420 site before I lost my job… hopefully… now that The Wicker Breaker is making up for some of the lost wages… and I feel sane enough to write again… I’ll be able to get back to work on these other projects in my spare time… but I don’t see that happening any time soon… especially with all of the technical issues that keep killing my revenue…

Oh well… I’m sure that everything will eventually work out… or I’ll die trying…
