365 Days Of Marketing And Me: Day Forty-Five - 2/14/2021

One Creative Introverts Effort To Take On The Extroverted Marketing World…

Welcome to day number forty-five of 365 Days Of Marketing And Me… where I learned today that I’ve been handling my 301 redirects improperly for the past couple of weeks… which means that I may have been doing more harm than good with all of my recent efforts… it turns out that when you do need to steer users to a renamed URL that there is no need to then hide each page from being crawled using robots.txt… ant that you should only do one or the other… not both… the way I opted to take on these issues…

Thankfully… I was using Google Tag Manager to hide all of my redirected links from the robots… because… one… it didn’t actually take all that long to set up… meaning not all that much time was wasted… but it also means that I was able to remove each no index instruction with just a couple of clicks… so even less time was wasted getting everything back to normal…

The only problem is… I now have thousands of more issues to fix… when I was just starting to feel that I was almost done correcting all of this site’s problems from the past… before I ever thought about marketing… and was just blogging for a hobby… that said… I don’t mind this problem… because it looks like if I fix everything correctly it should increase my organic traffic even more… plus… I’m also fine with putting in the extra work… I just wish there wasn’t so much conflicting information about how and what needs to be done…

Speaking of done… there you have my marketing effort for today… as well as what I’ll probably be working on for the rest of the week… and now it’s time to share my efforts to complete yesterday’s task…

According to the 365 Days Of Marketing book… yesterday was Blame Someone Else Day… and to fulfill a task for this theme… I decided that I’d blame my dog… since it was her fault that I did not get to my end of the day The Daily Breaker post… because… while taking a break to watch some TV with her… I lost all of my ambition to get back to work… especially after convincing myself that… in doing so… I would technically be fulfilling the task from yesterday… plus… how could you not want to pass up work to spend more cuddling time with this mutt???

I assure you that everything will be back to normal tonight… but that’s how I handled the assignment last night… now let’s see what the book has in store for me today…

The 365 Days Of Marketing book says that today is Valentine’s Day… as does the rest of the world… which is why I think that it’s kind of lame that the marketing book uses mainstream holiday’s for their themes… it probably doesn’t help that I’ve always been single on this date… so I wasn’t really looking forward to even acknowledging the day in any way… but here I am with and assignment aimed at this couples themed day… hopefully I’ll figure out a way to handle this task by the time that I sit down to write tomorrow’s post…

Below are my latest stats… yes they may be low… but as you can see by the flatline at the front of the Last 30 Days… I’m starting to see some growth again… so… I’m going to go back to adding this bit of info to the end of every 365 Days Of Marketing And Me post from here on out…
